Shin Chisoo as a villain has been two-dimensional so far to me. But Court Lady Kim, wow. I'm liking her.
Her character shows layers and that there seems to be more to her than what is shown so far. It's been said that the previous King favored her for being smart. She is actually a very observant character and there's more to her than being a mere underling to Shin Chisoo. Now that the Queen Dowager has taken interest in her, imagine her playing double agent to our two resident villains. I'd love that.
I'm one of those who are actually rooting for the romance. Though I agree it shouldn't be TOO much and take away…
Same, same! Also, press releases have mentioned that there will be more romance involved in the story compared to the movie. Anyway, as long as everything is balanced well I'm okay with it. The director also said that she doesn't intend to make melo scenes just for the sake of making a melo. And so far the drama's done well in balancing things out.
I love Eunuch Jo so much and how much he cares for our Haseon-ie.. I'm glad Haseon has Eunuch Jo in the palace.
That adorable drawing of Haseon for Eunuch Jo. IM CRYING. I'm also crying for Dallae and Gapsoo.
My heart is also breaking for Yi Heon though and how much Shin Chisoo has poisoned his mentality. Now it's inevitable that Yi Heon and Dallae meet. I'm totally looking forward to that. That Ep 4 finale left my mouth hanging open for a good few seconds OMG. I never saw it coming that Yi Kyu would go as far as give Haseon the exact same scar as Yi Heon. When he said, "The clown Haseon is dead. You are now the King of this nation." GOOSEBUMPS! MONDAY GIVE ME MONDAY ALREADY
Regarding the drama. WOW. I am literally in awe after this. The sets, the characters, the writing, the ACTING,…
That maniacal laughter at the end can easily look awkward on-screen if not done well and actors find it harder to act a laughing scene than a crying one. But it was really impressive how that scene played out. Huge props to Yeo Jin Goo and the director!
I totally loved the second episode! - Haseon playing king by himsef.. he's the cutest!!! T_T - When he was picking hazelnuts for his sister, my heart - Yeo Jin Goo's acting when Gyehan died. So f*cking fantastic. The way he showed how shocked and traumatized he was. That confusion on his face, how he realizes he's just a pawn to be killed and how his little action of offering the snack to Gyehan resulted to her death just like that. His body language was wow. - And then there's Haseon's sister. T_T Nooooo... - That ending part where even Yi Kyu was confused if it was Yi Heon or Haseon who returned to the palace. Damn. Wow.
Copy pasting my soompi comment here~ I watched the livestream last night and still not done watching the eng subbed version but YASSSS YEO JIN GOO YASSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
So well-directed. The director certainly did not disappoint! That scene where half the face of the king was shown and then cut straight to the clown's other half. WOW. The pacing is on point. It didn't dilly-dally and went straight in for the kill. The king is ruthless and disturbed but given the first part, his father certainly didn't help. Great cameo performance by Jang Hyuk, btw! All the actors are great. YES. THANK YOU. I agree! Thank you to the director for taking the casting seriously.
Yeo Jin Goo nailed it. That scene where he stabbed the assassin and even imitated the way he was catching his breath. DGDLKGJ. Then the next you'd see Jin Goo playing this clown and his speech is so on-point! Great, so so so great. I'm so glad and happy he's been given the opportunity to rock these roles.
My thoughts are still all over the place. But there's been an absolutely AMAZING response to the first episode! And the ratings. WOW. Congrats, TCC Team! Very well earned!
Lee Byung Hun played the main role in the movie & he was fantastic as always. I'm curious how much they changed?
- The character of the king and the chief secretary is being changed to fictional ones so they can have more freedom to explore the characters. - Age of the king and the clown are much younger than in the movie. - The king doesn't get poisoned like in the movie. - There'll be more focus on the romance than what was shown in the movie. - Haseon (the clown) has a younger sister.
I find Yuan Chunwang really good at acting, it was so realistic to the point that people hate him and even threaten…
Wow that's really scary. It's okay to hate the character but not the actor. :(
I feel like Yuan Chunwang got overly possessive of Yingluo and that's just not healthy in my book. I prefer it when there's mutual respect between characters like Fuheng respecting Yingluo's decisions every step of the way even if he still had strong feelings for her. Yuan Chunwang did help Yingluo so many times, but that doesn't mean Yingluo shouldn't have the freedom to make her own decisions in life. I find him to be a really sad character though.
I quite liked part one when it started, but not impressed by part 2. The 2037 background is not very convincing.…
"Which one is Bum Gyun and Joon Hyuk? " - There are already clues laid out in the first ep, but it gets officially answered in Ep 4. Ep 1 might be confusing for some people initially but things eventually make sense as the episodes go along. Questions from Part 1 eventually gets answers from Part 2 and vice-versa as the story goes on.
Loved this drama so much! Totally enjoyed it from start to finish! A totally satisfying watch. My biggest ship is the friendship between Yingluo and the Empress Fucha. I shed the most tears for these two.
The only downside in this drama for me is Yuan Chunwang. Not a fan whenever Wang Maolei's acting went overboard.
