The synopsis already grabbed my attention. I’m so glad it’s on Netflix 😊
Kim Jae-yeong’s style here really reminds me of Byeon Woo-seok in Lovely Runner. They both have that band-vocalist vibe 🤭

i'm confused. Does NJL's mom live in the cave in collaboration with the earth fiends (the same ones who followed…
In episode 28, it was explained that the people inside the cave were senior Nanshan hunters who transformed after being wounded by Dixiao. So they chose to lock themselves inside the cave to avoid causing trouble, but unexpectedly they ended up transforming even worse and became emotionless. (It’s the same case as Aluo’s driver in the early episodes, who transformed after being attacked by Dixiao.) So they’re different from the real Dixiao.

That’s why Aluo’s mother was also in the cave—she had already been contaminated. I remember it was explained that Aluo’s mom suddenly disappeared while on a mission. So that part is clear about why she was in the cave.

As for the ā€œpink gel (?)ā€ that wrapped Aluo, I honestly have no idea either LOL.
That part is definitely a plot hole—how Aluo ended up there and how Yan Tuo managed to bring Aluo’s body back to the surface were never explained šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

I’m quite happy with the ending—it’s a very happy ending. I’m also really glad that we got more moments of the two of them together after the ā€œdramaticā€ plot, not just in the last episode (like most C-dramas tend to do).

I really liked the amnesia storyline, and her personality during that time was so funny—she really returned to how she was at the beginning šŸ˜†

But what I want to complain about is, like many C-dramas (not all), near the ending the episodes felt rushed, and there were so many plot holes that didn’t make sense to me and still needed explanations.

But oh well, as long as it’s a happy ending šŸ˜†
Oh and the ending feels like they’re hinting at a Season 2 hopefully. šŸ„¹šŸ™šŸ»

Based on the timeline, the last time Yan Tuo stayed overnight at Aluo’s house was during the Gregorian New Year…
that’s right — based on the timeline, he should’ve been imprisoned for 1 or 2 months already

What’s the timeline? How long has YT been locked up?
Based on the timeline, the last time Yan Tuo stayed overnight at Aluo’s house was during the Gregorian New Year (January 1).
And when he was imprisoned in the mining site, it was already Lunar New Year.
So it seems like he’s been locked up for more than a month.
Since the gap between the Gregorian New Year and Lunar New Year is usually around one month

The episodes are getting so exciting yihiii 🤩
I’m so annoyed at Xing Shen 😤 His jealousy is totally useless....

In episode 24 yesterday, it seems like a lot of scenes were cut 😢 They were shown in the teaser, but when it aired, they were gone 😭
And I just realized, the further the episodes go, the shorter the duration becomes šŸ˜ž Early and mid-season episodes were still around 44 minutes, but now they’re only about 30-something minutes 😩 Hmmm…

Lin Ling was adopted by Ms. Lin, and grew up together with Yan Tuo, so they’re basically like siblings

Omg he tried to terrorize the FL by reckless driving, then purposely careens them both into the river and then…
i was a bit shocked by that scene.
I was like, wow this ML is really crazy šŸ˜‚ Then when he realized the FL was afraid of water, he immediately started explaining to her about the water pressure being heavy because of blah blah blah to calm her down.
And i was thinking, wow he can explain water pressure inside a car like that — does that mean this ML often drives himself into the water with his car or something ? šŸ˜‚

the story is very clear. They have been explaining many thing by episode 2. I guess you missed all.
I don’t think i skipped anything, but I’m still confused even at episode 3.

In my opinion, there still hasn’t been any clear or meaningful explanation or information up to episode 3 about the ā€˜Nanshan Hunters(?)’ organization, or the organization Ms. Lin belongs to, or even about ā€˜Dixiao(?)’.
Not to mention the ML and FL’s backgrounds, which still aren’t explained clearly aside from the fact that the ML is a GM and the FL works in the arts.
So I guess i have to try watching a few more episodes

I’ve tried watching 3 episodes, and my conclusion is that i’m still confused about what this story is, what it’s actually about, and who all these people are — and who the ML and FL really are šŸ˜…
i don’t want to buy the express pass yet because i’m still confused about the plot and not excited about the story yet. it seems like the story is a bit slow 🧐

Female lead has a monotone look that pretty much has squinting eyes without much emotion, looks much more older…
I agree, Vic’s acting here isn’t good, especially her eyes that look like she’s sleepy (which is a bit distracting to me), but she’s good in martial arts, supported by her background as a dancer and her training in traditional chinese dance

This is based off of the novel Mountain and River Pillow, right? How true is it to the source material?
Yes, that’s right. I’ve read up to chapter 24 and i can say with confidence that the drama doesn’t follow the novel.
In the novel, it’s clearly a rebirth story, but the drama isn’t.
The plot is different, though the basic premise is the same, Chu Yu marries Wei Jun (the eldest brother). And personally, i prefer the novel and Chu Yu’s character is better in the novel

It seems like the ending isn’t satisfying, right? I’ve already seen the ending spoilers on XHS, and even chinese netizens feel the same as us international fans—disappointed 🫢.
I even remember someone commenting that Fugui’s feelings for QT in the end don’t look like love, but more like he just pities to QT. Well, I agree 🫢. I’ve already paused at episode 27 because i’m tired of the overly dramatic Black Fox plot and don’t feel like continuing for now.

But seeing how the plot gets messier toward the end, i think I don’t want to continue watching at all 🫢.
Well, at least the early to mid plot arcs were better compared to the middle to the end

when did wei jun and chu yu promised to marry each other? all they did was to investigate the crossbow but she's…
So the story is that Chu Yu pretended and lied to the Wei family, saying that Wei Jun already had a marriage agreement with her (even though that agreement didn’t exist at all and they had no relationship whatsoever).
Chu Yu said that so she could enter the Wei family and investigate the matter about the crossbow.
Yeah, that’s roughly the story 😬

But if we go by the novel, it’s not like that.
Because in the novel, Chu Yu is reborn and then chooses to marry Wei before the incident where she elopes with Gu, in order to avoid the same events that happened in her previous life when she was with Gu

I want to rant a bit more, aside from Vic’s acting in this drama, which i personally think isn’t good (not because of her age or looking older, etc. - purely because her facial acting/expressions are bad).

I was quite surprised when I found out that the director of this drama is the same person who directed A Journey To Love, a drama I really love (let’s just forget about the ending šŸ˜“).
Because in my opinion, the editing in this drama is really bad. Especially in episode 19 and the directing of the fight scenes.
In episode 19, during the slow-mo scene with the sunset (?) or sunrise (?) background— I don’t know, but the background looked so fake LOL.

Then the fight scene in episode 17… what?? Why are there so many top-down shots, and then only a few zoom shots—and even those zooms are just on their faces, not the actual fighting (yeah probably because of the stuntmen). But still, it just looks really bad.
Ugh, the fight scenes are so noticeably poorly edited here.

And the scene where they fall off the cliff— we clearly see there’s a river down there (if I’m not mistaken LOL), but then suddenly the water turns into something that looks like a fish pond 🐟

As a Li Yi Tong's fan, I feel bad for her. She seems to be a very hard working actress but doesn't have luck in…
And one more winner is Liu Yu Ning 🫢
Coincidentally, his OSTs also came out for three dramas that are airing at the same time — and all three just so happen to feature CHS. LOL
