The only thing I really enjoyed about this drama is Ok Taec Yeon .. I am a fan of his, but not enough I watch everything he does, but watching this, he was the main thing/person who stood out. I usually like these type of stories, but this one left me confused and disappointed. I don't think we ever needed to see "K's story at all. Didn't care.. didn't need the odd double screen of herself and alternate character and really didn't need those horrible special effects. Seo Bum June was cute in this, sincere, sparkly acting. But this drama was just odd to me.

I agree. I'm actually only on the third ep. but I like the FL character. Yes, she seemed arrogant and naive in the scene where she is outlining what she wants in a husband. But she is young, and without romance experience. Giving the time for characters to grow and change is what makes the story. But you can see she is kind, fair, has good intentions... watches out for underdogs and servants... she's clever and careful. I don't really see how she could be disliked.

Oh really, they remade counter attack?? And, I'm confused, it's a Chinese production? If that's true, I really have to believe this story will get messed up.. I watched the original, and read the book. If you tell me it's Taiwanese, that's a different story altogether:)

I have always liked her very much as an actor.. I found her interesting looking, quirky, but not exactly beautiful. I was sad when she got into legal troubles and wondered if we'd see her again. I just started watching this and am enjoying it and I find SZE beautiful here. I don't know if it's because it's a period piece, or her stylist, her maturing face, or work done, haha.. Idk, I just think she's lovely here. Perfect for this role.

Agree completely. It just doesn't seem that hard to give some basis why the ML would ask for divorce and then immediately chase the FL throughout the drama. It's tiresome, it happens most of the time . I think I saw a version once where the ML had asked for the divorce because he was protecting his wife from his family who threatened her. But it's rare to have a rational script imo.

One of the versions I watched showed the girl he was chasing after while abroad she lived a very loose life there.. bringing men home... it even looked like she and the ML's character lived together and she brought a man home.. because she liked him liking her, but didn't treat him like a bf. He became disgusted and evidently went back to find the more innocent girl he left behind.

irl they're only 10 years apart?? And they're both full adults. And they are actors playing roles. I don't understand the negativity?

Does anyone know what the alternate name for "Cold CEO for 2 years, but jealousy erupts!" is? I can only find the drama without an ending. I hope I can find the whole thing under a different name.

I wonder why this one isn't in the list " Wake Up as My Enemy's Wife". I just watched it and it's pretty good.

I liked the webtoon, altho I have let it go as it continues on. I like all these actors, some look to fit the roles better than others, imo, but I am always open to seeing an actor take on roles we couldn't see them in and get a surprise:)

You make a legit point. I will say tho, just like in The Double, it was left to interpretation and everyone had a different opinion about it. At that point, it DID matter to me what the original novel meant as an ending, and also what cast members said about it as they were part of the discussions during the making of it. Because you find directors who want to be artsy fartsy and add their artistic 'statement' but it just leaves viewers frustrated. Or, scriptwriters get changed out and have a different vision than what was originally intended. So, if something in a drama is open ended, which I hate, the original source is what helps me make up my mind how I believe the story was meant to go.

Yes, he did.. but he never thought he was going to be emperor, right? She said she wanted to live a simple life , but she's not. Right? Because they have obligations to their country and their roles in it. He will have duties that will be considered what's best for the country above all else. This drama is based on the trials and tribulations they face, the roadblocks to their happiness BECAUSE of the mores of the day. They lived with who had power, what they could and could not do and say.. As an emperor he would be expected to have concubines.. You said "This is not a historical film, but a fairy tale in historical costumes. " But the emperor, his father, had concubines, even Si's uncle had a concubine.
So, to reassure me as a viewer, they should have left that line out, or had him tell her that even tho he would be pressured and expected to take concubines, he wouldn't. It's unrealistic, but it felt like I had been doused with a glass of cold water when she said that.

I realize it's not based on any real historical period of time or person. But it is loosely based on Ancient China, it's not a complete fantasy world. The poster I answered commented on my offense of the possibility of a harem wrote "to me the harem part was more like simply what the empress has to say upon her coronation" So, I'm not sure what that's based on. But honestly, if the drama is either following a realistic protocol, or a world building fantasy protocol, the fact that the character said she would manage the harem means that harems exist in that world. And the drama never has the characters discuss there won't be other wives, so it's wishful thinking ( and that's totally ok haha) that there won't be. I don't understand in this "fairy tale " world why they would put that line in there.

It's hard to say... but perhaps Blossom. ? this one has some great cinematography and a smart FL. It's a rebirth story, but not a revenge story so I really liked that.
The Double was a pretty exciting drama, with also good cinematography. The FL is clever and patient to reach her goals, the ML is handsome and a BTS kind of hero. I liked the love story, but they don't spend a lot of time on screen together. imo They are always working their own angles. . But both leads are dashing in their own rights. The ending left some people thinking it wasn't a happy ending. If you watch, you can reach back to me if you want and I will tell you all the reasons why I know it was, haha.
Lastly, Are you the One has a smart FL and a sweet ML. It's an interesting story.
Watch all of them, haha.. kidding, but I enjoyed all of them.
