EP41 and 42 were so good! I hated it. Like... so many characters sacrificed themselves one after the other. I loved how Gu Jun and Tian Qi blew up about how little they care about Wu Huan and her Heavenly Realm and 'True Gods'. (Respect for those two - had they not been there, Wu Huan would've been running around like a bulldozer with no brakes.) Gu Jun deserved better. Houchi/Shangu deserved better. I even felt bad for Sen Yu, Sen Jian and Bai Jue . And Zhihan. Tian Qi is losing everyone he loves, just like Shangu. And Muguang is an idiot. He is harming his wife by covering for her. The Deicide Flower: both Xuanyi and Shangu must be "really" powerful for them to cultivate with it. (Pretty sure that Wu Huan chose the wrong person to mess with. I will wait for the day she gets punished.)
EP40: Whoever chose Zhou Dongyu for this role made an excellent choice. That scene with Houchi and Shangu in the dream showed how different those two characters were. Honestly, I'm not mad at Bai Jue. Nothing good would've happened even if he did admit that he remembered Qing Mu. (Qing Mu was never supposed to meet Houchi. It's terrible seeing her cry, but it's the only way Bai Jue can fix things at this juncture. Though, I would've preffered that he chose to disappear after his return.) Surprisingly, I'm not upset that he is going to marry Jingzhao. A cruel move, but it's also his way of keeping an eye on Wu Huan and keeping Houchi away from the Heavenly Palace and himself. He also made his feeling really clear to Jingzhao. (Wu Huan is so damn evil, but she's clever. She is the only outsider who figured out that Bai Jue might be having something up his sleeve. It is also the reason why she wants Jingzhao to badly marry him. And also wants to kill Houchi.) Even Tian Qi knows that something might go wrong with Bai Jue. Also, I used to kinda hate Wu Huan's eldest son, but he and Jingjian are the only ones who are suspecting that something is terribly wrong with their momma. (Jingjian and Gu Jun are so so good and loyal. Some of the best characters I've seen.)
I don't know Mandarin, but I think there is a misunderstanding in EP41. (About how Bai Jue did nothing when Wu Huan harmed Hou Chi.) I might be wrong, but when Wu Huan destroyed Houchi's core, she did it sneakily while Bai Jue and Tian Qi were fighting in the sky. Nobody, including Gu Jun and the True Gods saw it coming. In her first attack, she had only lifted Houchi up with some rope thingy. She wouldn't dare destroy her core with her husband and so many people standing in plain sight. Nobody would've let her do it. Even the dumb Heavenly Emperor.
They must have casted these actors because they have the talent. (Also, I think they focussed on making everyone they chose pretty as the story required. Which might be the reason there are new actors with very little experience. I only know Zhang Lin He and Luo Zheng.) The trouble is, most dramas are not shot in chronological order. It can take sometime for actors to get in character and those scenes when they struggle with it are visible. That's the main downside. But, if they actor manages to capture the essence/understand the character in the first try, their performance will be good, whether they are experienced or not. So, I hope that's the case.
I fast forwarded through EP41 without subtitles.... It ain't a Xianxia drama unless the FL attempts to maim the ML. I remember many viewers being mad at Bai Jue/Wu Huan when it aired. But, I'm 100% convinced that Mu Guang must've been unconscious. He stood there and watched the whole show. One of the most useless characters I've seen. Gu Jun has more guts and deserves the title of Heavenly Emperor more than him.
EP38. In this episode (and possibly future episodes, judging by the amount of tears in this comment section) my favorite characters are Gu Jun, Feng Ran, Jing Jian, Tian Qi and Hou Chi and Qing Mu. I was confused with Tian Qi's actions, but he seems to be the one who is actually trying to protect Shang Gu/Hou Chi from her future. Loved Gu Jun and Feng Ran's tenacity at the Heavenly Palace! Bai Jue's plan... I've to watch more to say anything else. But, Shangu might have reincarnated just like how some Gods undergo tribulation and sacrificed themselves. Did they have to take such a painful path? Bai Jue's love for her is dangerous. I just hope he ends up reincarnating and Shang Gu gets everyone she loves back. And someone needs to kill Wu Huan if the spoilers are true. She got on my last nerve with this EP. Bai Jue seems to be calculating his actions. So, I don't know what to think of this new version.
I'm starting to miss Shangu's smile from the first few episodes. (Reached EP34 and I've barely seen that smile since the second arc began.) By the way, I'm surprised by the comment section. It's best not to reply to negative comments that are purposefully being hateful. And I recommend reading the Discussion and the Reviews (press the Review tab next to the Details to see them) first to decide if it's worth watching.
Oh cmon gais..they are just the same person..idk why everyone is acting like both of them is different person,…
I think that's because they have vastly different personalities and grew up to become two different individuals. Which makes sense. They are never aware of anything that happened before and lived their lives as different people. From their perspective, it makes sense. It is explained really well in one of the episodes.
I thought it was a thing in xianxias to have evil heaven empresses. Wait for surprise in next episode.
Yep, it is a common trope. I haven't watched Eternal Love. But, in Ashes of Love, the Empress was evil for someone else. Not for herself. And she was real subtle about it. This one though... (Alrighty! Have to watch 33 and 34 today. Thanks for the heads up!) :)
(EP32) Wu Huan is the most self-centred evil lady I've ever seen. Usually, even villains have something or someone to protect. For her, everyone are just pawns to play around with, as long as she gets what she wants. It's frustrating to watch. (Xue Ying was clever enough to recognize what an oopsie Wu Huan was. ) She uses the devil weapon, lies about it and then literally uses that lie as a leverage to climb the steps and hide her crime, framing everyone to do so. Then she once again uses it to enhance her powers by letting innocents get killed. Her plan is dangerous and if Muguang had been a bit more intelligent and attentive, he'd have seen through her.
may i know what...tho i had rewatched from ep1.. i havent found the connect..tq...😉
Nothing big. But, Wu Huan made a huge fuss over that Chihe Jade in Piligrimage Hall cause it was "her" favorite piece of furniture. She mentioned that it was Shangu's favorite. But, nothing in the drama ever told us this. Its mentioned in EP31 that she likes Chihe Jade. Turns out that she actually wanted Piligirmage Hall for herself.
Tian Qi's obsession with FL is irritating.FL looks at him as her brother. Imagine thinking of a girl who thinks…
Honestly, Tian Qi is kind of the person who jokes around half the time, but takes others' emotions into account. He was upset when Shangu turned him down, but he promised that he is going to always be her elder brother. He even went to tell Bai Jue that he was idiot for not confessing his feelings. In his madness, he went against the God Realm and attempted destruction. From his POV, he had no choice with only one day left. So, he chose the worst way. But, when Yuemi was fatally hurt, he was ready to return to the God Realm, despite everything. He never wanted to hurt her feelings. In the present timeline, it looks to me that he is rather having fun with Hou Chi to anger Qing Mu. He never revealed his true identity as the Demon God (from what I've watched so far). (He lied that she was Shangu's maid. But, Hou Chi saw right through him.) He does know his limits. I find it sad that he didn't let go of the past, but he definitely won't get in between Houchi and Qingmu's relationship. Now he just looks happy that he stumbled upon his old friends.
The actress who plays Wu Huan is really good. I haven't seen her before, but she portrayed the role with so much power! One of the most excellent villains I've seen in CDramaland. I loved her in the beginning then her inferiority complex took over and she just began making and manipulating situations to make it favorable to her. (Even her own daughter's stupidity.) And Muguang needs to grow a brain as soon as possible. I'm glad Tian Qi called out his foolishness.
