The previews are so depressing. (Also nerve wracking and exciting from what I've seen.)
I regret watching them.

This drama would be considered a treasure if Xianxia dramas became less frequent. But there are so many of them coming each year or planned that everyone are tired of it. Same tropes, same storyline. Its difficult to find a breakthrough unless the leading cast has a huge fanbase or something. Love and Destiny (2019) is pretty high rated in Douban, but got buried. Love and Redemption was the highest rated Xianxia last year, but I don't think many people gave it a chance.
Like how wuxia dramas sort of faded from mainstream, which is why the ones that do get released now attract lots of wuxia fans who praise them for execution of tropes and storyline that pays homage to the genre even though its repeated. (Eg: Ancient Detective, Love in Between, Word of Honor)
I am surprised that people are trashing this drama. Its really good. Especially the CGI... I have no idea how anyone can call it bad. The actors are doing well and the plot is strong despite sounding tropey. What else is required? Its getting waay too much hate and baseless critisicm. I can understand why people might drop it, but hating on it?

I think the writers made a good decision by showing us the past for the first few episodes. Had it started from EP16, it would have been one big confusing mess - "Who? What? When? Where? Why?" Now, I'm just excited seeing all those little hints and my favorite characters in the recent ones! :D

Most people are commenting on her looks. If this drama had someone more beautiful looking or some popular traffic actress, it would be well discussed and receive better ratings. Last year's Love and Redemption by the same producer received similar backlash and many people called Yuan Bingyan ugly and all sort of stuff. Pretty sure they cast Zhou Dongyu for her skills and not her looks.

I think the overwhelming number of xianxia dramas being released with varying quality convinced everyone that every drama is going to be the same. Nobody stops notice the good stuff. anymore. Once the "xianxia" genre stops getting overdone or disappears, (sort of like what happened to wuxia in past few years), the few dramas that get released will be appreciated more despite the tropes.

I guessed they did something like that because the MDL synopsis is "very" spoilery for the God Realm Arc. Possibly for us to emotionally connect with the characters.

Honestly, this is the only CDrama that managed to make me crazily binge it after Word of Honor.
I thought that I was the only one enjoying it until I saw the comments here. The criticism it's receiving from CNetizens is something that regularly happens to dramas that start to attract attention (good or bad) and I usually take those with a grain of salt.
I won't crystal ball and say that it's the best, but some of the comments I've seen around make it look as if it's unwatchable. The problem with both wuxia and xianxia genres is that stories and tropes get repeated - the beauty lies in its execution, which is why both these genres are a hit or miss or don't attract favorable ratings/audience. (This is the first time I'm seeing such a rating on MDL for a Xianxia like this one.)
The drama has a slow start but those are just appetizer EPs like all xianxias. Everything blows up after EP10. Even the supporting cast we see has delivered powerful performances in the last few episodes I've seen. (Tianqi and Yuemi stole EP14. I particularly loved EP16 with Bai Jue and all the other Gods. The scenes were so emotional and powerful! Shangu may not look like Goddess material, but I love that she is different.)
I just hope it doesn't drag and disappoint in the remaining 30 episodes.

This drama should've been 10 episodes or atmost 12 episodes long with a well written script about what happens when in each of them. (Or even an hour long movie.) Now it seems like a mix of muddled thoughts of the scriptwriter. It's neither good nor bad. "Just watchable" is what comes to my mind. The cast is excellent and might be the only thing motivating me. But the story is clearly dragged out with about 10 minutes of important stuff happening in an hour long episode. There are only two supernatural entities that keep the plot going on, but I think the choice of such deities itself is difficult to portray - they are 'ambiguous'. (Unlike Goblin or Hotel del Luna, where there is a clear purpose for their storyline.) Much thinking should've been done and planned out.

It took me three attempts to finally get interested in this drama. (I dropped Love and Redemption after the very first episode last year. But, gave it a second chance.)
So far (I'm on EP6), I can tell that all the "fun" parts are just the appetizers. Judging from some of the GIFs I've seen and the recent stills, Ancient Love Poetry seems to be one of those dramas where things can go terribly south either in a good way or a bad way. The only relief is that the Human Realm doesn't exist yet. (Otherwise we'd have to see the characters suffer some horrible tribulation there.)

Rewatching this drama is a really wonderful experience! Especially if you are doing it with someone who has never watched it beforehand.

The love triangle storyline seems almost like a filler and it could easily pass of as a part of another drama, which is why I am not much invested in them. The plot of the main couple is agonisingly slow (TDK has only 50 days left, so they definitely had multiple times skips), but with two completely different storylines, maybe the writer is attempting to give a satisfying happy ending for one couple? (Unless Mr. Cha turns out to be a deity in disguise or everyone epically dies together at the end, I don't see how they are connected.)

MGTV is terrible at promoting their own dramas and seems to release/bury them whenever they feel like it. So, they might drop this at a bad timing or out of the blue. (They have not been secretive amd released many stills and posters.) Also, I think there is not much buzz as the book doesn't seem to be popular in the danmei circle.

I prefer Perfect and Casual over this mostly because I couldn't stand all the "investment banking" talk. I think Perfect and Casual is more "silly". But, it was quick and didn't seem draggy to me. Ofcourse, you might like Love is Sweet more than that. Overall, it comes to preference. :)

This drama reminded me so much of those Korean Makjangs. Funny and tragic at the same time. It was really unique and all the actors were soo good! I watched this for Zhang Zhe Han and he did not disappoint at all, and I think he portrayed a wide range of emotions in this one. Too bad its not well known. Zhang Ruonan and everyone else were really good too. We get a wide range of characters to watch and overall, it was worth my time. :)

Binged three episodes unexpectedly. The OST at the end of EP3 is sooo good! But, I still don't understand the young deity's plan/purpose - she keeps coming back in various forms after each of her lifetime and she is doomed to die in one way or another? (Cause in EP3 she sort of confirms that the person whom Doom was crying for at the funeral hall was her.)

The trailer, synopsis and tags reminds me of the Japanese movie "Tomorrow I Will Date with Yesterday's You."
