If Zhang Haowei fans are considering watching this, make sure you can sit through a slow-burn thriller. He carries a lot of screen time in the middle of the series. That being said, the whole cast contributes to making this show worth watching if you're a fan of the genre. My favorite characters are actually Chief Hu and Dr. Xia. It's not all doom and gloom. Subtle humor is littered throughout the show and you only pick up on it once you understand the characters e.g. when everyone likes Chief Qin better after he got shot and best when he's in a vegetative state (slight spoiler but please watch for events leading up to condition).
This show turned out to be super cute and meaningful. For others who are hesitating because it's so campy or aren't into the color palette (lol, i care), give it a try! The issues that MC face and the accompanying folklore really ground the show in a realism that's unexpected.
I found it so funny when xj turned into a man! lol and how awkward it must have been for sf to act with lhjd in…
I laughed too!!
I couldn't help myself as I was watching all the men in the frame during the one scene where SF tries to convince LHJD that he's needed. YL's refusal was slapped down by WZZ, who said YL is just scared/jealous that SF is better looking and will compete to be favored. Then YL tried to hurt SF, but YL got shoved onto the floor by LHJD!!! YL face was full of restrained grievances while SF was smirking!! I just bust out laughing so hard! I felt like I was watching a palace drama about the harem...
Oh BLDJ, if only you'd been true to LHJD, you'd be the favored primary consort. Or LHJD would be yours hahahaha
I liked it but i am not grazy about it.I Did not liked the fl and the sfl so much even in ashes the fl was not…
Based on the unique loss of senses in both shows, I think it's fair to compare the characterization of the FLs from AoL and LaR. I was so annoyed with JM that I didn't make it pass 1/3 of the show. The problem with JM was that she had a tendency to use her poor logic to make hasty decisions and act on them!! Just because you can't fall in love doesn't mean that one should lack common sense lol.
XJ, on the other hand, was a mostly obedient child. She was also well taught. Even if she couldn't understand why she hurt someone, she learned to notice other's feelings and address her mistakes. I still don't get why the character was so smiley tho lol. You'd think she'd be more stoic with 6 senses gone. That being said, it did seem like she based most of her "happiness" on her sister's feelings and wanting to please LL. I think it's fair to be annoyed at XJ calling "sifeng, sifeng, sifeng" constantly...even HC was annoyed by this lmaoooo but i bet XJ prob grew up calling, "ling long, liu shi xiong, ling long, liu shi xiong!" up until the start of the show is why the other disciples don't care for her too hahaha
I just started watching this outta boredom. It's so good! I'm personally watching for Wallace Chung lololol #generationgap ay, but really how does this man still look so young?
is it me or does the FL lack scenes and character compared to the MLs. i really hope they don't do love triangle…
Honestly, I'm not loving the female lead. I feel she's just in the show so ppl can know that LY is straight. I don't get her logic or where she's coming from. I think it took 14 episodes for me to understand with some clue why she's feuding with her father. I do appreciate that she never naively falls for LY's flirting lol, which is hilarious.
I’m on episode 7 and I got the feeling that tang and that girl in red are gonna end up marrying somehow.
I feel that although TF has noticed Aha's beauty, but she still feels that he's weak and useless. hahaha okay yaw, just because you don't want any of the male leads to end up with a woman, but there's no need to be so antagonistic towards them. Aha is a generous and chivalrous person.
I dunno about others but I'm watching this show mainly for how funny Tang Fan's interactions are with the other characters. I haven't seen Darren Chen in anything else and he kind of struck me as being a too thin pretty face, but Tang Fan is just hilarious. I'm not convinced by TF's genius (lol). I mean, he's a smart guy and well-read. The real genius is Dong'er lol. TF's insightful and it's his insights that assist SZ (more so) and WZ (less so) to wrap things up. But SZ and WZ, especially the latter, are very capable leaders and problem solvers on their own. TF is so childlike compared to the other two leads.
As another viewer pointed out, the audience isn't really getting an opportunity to solve the mysteries in the show. I'm not a critical viewer per se, but I could figure out what was going to happen towards the end of each case so far. If anything, I'm noticing that because of the politics and bureaucracy the characters must navigate, the cases don't end in a satisfactory way. That's just too close to real life for me lol. This is why I like Wang Zhi, my favorite character to date! WZ is suave, crafty, sassy and very competent at his job.
I feel that TF is living in a slice of life drama; SZ is living in a wuxia detective drama; and, WZ is living in a dark political drama lol. Their lives just happen to overlap and we're seeing it through TF's perspective. Don't watch for the mysteries, watch for the interactions.
So I have a question, based on when he was shredding the documents can Xi Rui not read? He kept on asking the…
I feel that if he can read operas, then he can read their names. I think he's just the type of person who loses his cool in situations, and thus, can't function properly under stress lol. like when he put himself in the giant trunk.
Strangely, i like mrs.cheng...This is the first time i like female lead in the bl adaptation drama. She's a rich,…
I like her a lot too. I don't think she's spoiled, I think she's used to being in control of the household. That includes anything relating to the personal lives of her husband and younger sister in law. I feel that if she doesn't do what's correct in the eyes of society, her own credibility will suffer. Honestly, CFT can do whatever he wants because he is powerful man, so it's to his credit that he respects his wife (as he should). I love her because realistic, level-headed and a teeny bit romantic. I'd be upset too if the romance and affection I needed from my husband, seemed to be given to someone else! I don't need her SXR to be friends, but they could at least tolerate and coexist together... since not a bl lol.
I just started watching the show. I can't figure out if it's Yin Zheng I love or if I like the overall show that much lol. What I mean is Yin Zheng is sooo beautiful as Shang Xirui, so I can't take my eyes off him when he's on the screen or on the stage. SXR is a well rounded character. Other characters are great too. Cheng Fengtai feels like a standard male lead, which is not bad at all... except he's not sexy haha. HXM is very attractive, just not exuding the "feeling." Maybe, intentional?
