On We Are All Trying Here Apr 19, 2026
Koo Kyo Hwan is such a famous film actor. Over 30 films, and he is now producing and directing as well.

It is really a treat to get to see him work close-up in a drama for as long as we will.

He has only done a half a dozen or so dramas, but no need to look down on the man.
(It feels a little like he is slumming, being in a drama.)

Ep1-2
The incessant competition, the anxiety, the repressed anger and fear.
I like the way Hye Jin finally lays down the law to her panicky and cruel husband, Gyeong Se.

If she hadnt helped him (GS), he would not have made it to a stable career and would have lost his mind much more spectacularly than DongMan has. I believe it.

Imagine Oh Jung Se getting his actor's teeth into that scenario. Scary.

why are stress nose bleeds so common in Asian media? Is this a thing? The only time we see this trope in Western…
It is more of a symbolic sign of distress? Something about blood showing your feelings?
In cdrama people spit blood spontaneously, instead of quiet nosebleeds.

But I have no idea i,f in RL, Asian urban pollution is so bad that people actually do get more nosebleeds.

Dropped. What kind of disease had FL? I want to know, please.
The way her father tried to cure her was really interesting. The disease, whatever it was, is left obscure.

A good counterpoint to all of our current heroines -- there are many ways to be a hero. So how does a little rabbit-like woman, frequently silly, fainting often and always needing more blankets, save the world? Her sense of justice, her dad's influence, her true love's devotion and her own unquenchable bravery. The timid are sometimes braver than all of us, because they have to overcome fear the most. AND, she was a very good liar.

I get a little tired sometimes of the impetuous, unruly, sly, often needing to be saved bec of their own willfulness -heroines of this wave of female-centric shows. Too much of a good thing can be really annoying.

Praise to the writers of this show, who have done something original. I laughed, shrieked, sighed and cried. I loved this show. If you are reading this, HAVE A LIGHT HEART AND ENJOY THIS ROMANTIC FANTASY!

Title Warm on a Cold Night Spoiler
Ep34 spoiler --
The Crown Prince is so good-looking -- it seems artificial to make him the villain. Even though verbally ("someone more powerful") he was foreshadowed, still his acting had the opposite vibe -- true love for chi Lan.

Then, of course, came a really good plot twist.

The poor writing always gets talked about on Reddit. Discussions there are more level-headed as not too many biased…
Politically I thought it got more interesting as it went on.

Interesting how people can have different opinions.I've seen hundreds of cdramas and think that Pursuit of Jade…
You are at the point I started getting really interested intellectually/politically. The discussion of a Just War? Meaty. The completely fractured image of a campaign? A rom-com theme rollicking through a long siege in camp (Oh, Gongsun and Qi Shu!)? And the crazypants sui brothers as the bursting abscess of private imperial family problems creating untold suffering. Which of course you have just witnessed? I just got angrier and more intrigued. The cinematography of the sack of Lin An is so outstanding. The weird psycho-social allegory of QiMin's problems and that of the regime, and the strangely organic way that his lunacy will prov ide the humus for a new regime.....ummm. I wasnt bored.

Title Rebirth
I am going to drop this. A couple of scenes in ep10 really fell apart for me, so some pairings are not going to work..

I am not sorry I watched so far, this was visually great, Li Yun Rui is great, the choreography was great and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I got a chance to see plenty of younger actors and actresses.

I like to get an idea of the strengths of up and coming kids. HTT did well, I thought.

I agree with the general feeling that we shouldnt get caught up in the inauthentic Chinese forms of measuring dramas.

Something is really wrong about that.

But even though this is a site for the international audience to enjoy (ENJOY) asian dramas, it is still interesting to keep abreast of the Chinese audience. But all this junk about netizens just confuses the issue. And its boring to read.

Keep it shorter and clearer, and please, be critical of the toxic fandoms.

Can anyone recommend any other cdramas please? Not necessarily similar to POJ per se, I'm just looking for something…
You probably already know this, But Chen Xing Xu, the lead from between the lines will be starring in the NOBLE, directed by ZQJ and with Li Yi Tong costarring. Something to wait for.

And you didnt list Love in the Clouds? Hou Ming Hao, because he has a separate music career, seems to do shows in fantasy that are modern in the gender roles etc.

I am so enjoying Veil of Shadows, totally different to PoJ, but a great viewer experience. I guess you have watched…
Blossom is great. Not fancy/arty, more of a classic with some twisty princes,.
