I always felt the hiding my identity to protect you trope is the flimsiest plot device that just ended up making…
But isnt he hiding his identity to protect himself, to begin with? And he honestly doesnt think she is going to be an important part of his 'real' life, the big dummy. I think the origin isnt noble idiocy it is a characterization of the ML as a rather cold and compartmentalized human being. Then he gets smacked upside the head by love.
What are your thoughts about what Changyu said to Xie Zhen on Ep 17 " You call Song Yan a snake, and you think…
The fight definitely originated in honest jealousy. But that "who do you think you are" was repeated twice by the FL. It was heartfelt. His sudden domineering behavior came out of nowhere and surprised and hurt her. He is humble, loving and kind in her world. In his own world he is proud, closed off and irascible. He cant see his own duality . But like Song Yan, he is asking for everything and giving nothing. He suddenly says he cares but he is leaving her behind.
I'm really confused 😠Can someone help me understand a few things?1. Who are FL's parents actually?2. What's…
The Qi Min is the one i have been puzzling over -- I think the novel readers said that he was an adoptee, after his own dad, a prince of the imperial family, was killed and hung out to dry alongside of Xie LinShan (ML's Dad, they were both defending the same city together). Then he was adopted by Prince ChangXin, so he isnt a blood brother of Sui YangQing. And he is the 'older brother' because he was probably adopted (and older then too) before SYQ was born?
But when I read "the shadowy Prince ChangXin" I immediately think, oh well its all going to be in the (imperial) family after all.
I really feel the need for GongSun's sunny rationality about now, and his wistful love for the Princess. I want Ning to be safe and hidden at the Academy. I want GongSun to be on hand at the battle tent to heal when needed and to mediate between these two wildcats. And most of all I want to be sure that the puppet falcon is in good shape again and flying between the generals to save the day.
They were literally talking about each other. She is gentle, virtuous and can obviously manage a household, lol.…
She is gentle and virtuous if you know her and in our modern terms. But I heard that description he blurted out (idiotically) in medieval terms -- a gentle-woman. Never dirty or loud etc. Diplomatic and quietly authoritative in managing a very large household...
And it was clear he was repeating a typical description of a high-born lady amongst the many who had been presented to him.
Same with him, although he started it and TXW should have slapped him then.. Yes he is scholarly, very strong and very kind, in private and only in Xigu Alley so far. In his public life he is known to have had a terrible temper, to lack diplomacy and kindness and to be independent. He has the same education as any man of his class but there is no indication that he was actually outstanding at any of it amongst his peers. He is a fighter to the bone, not a scholar-bureaucrat.
It's been awhile since I enjoyed a cdrama quite like I've been enjoying Pursuit of Jade. I don't want to jinx…
Thanks for saying this -- I felt the same way about TXW before this show. Actors grow and they grow into the roles they can get. I am so thrilled by her ChangYu.
I feel obligated to talk about how hot Zhang Linghe looks in his armour - like this guy really looks godly whenever…
ZLH looks great in armor, but I have to say it -- for this role, he looks too young and pretty when on horseback. He is doing a great job at acting the character -- fierce and a bit gloomy. It was just a mistaken decision on the make-up end to make him look like an angelic 17 year old. He is nearly 30 and when in motion, in character, he really is capable of carrying off a sexier, more masculine aura.
He never explicitly said except for the fact that it was dangerous, as you said.
I meant how he completely keeps his own counsel about the war etc. while he was in Xigu Alley. Not even a hint to her about who he was. Over-cautious or just so compartmentalized that it didnt even occur to him to talk with her about anything.
ep17 I wanted CY to send Ning off together with QianQian and Bao-er, to be safe. That turned out to have been a really bad idea of mine. Ma Qin is unhinged. Where can Changning go when CY takes off to find YZ? My other thought was somehow between Li Huai An and the Princess that ChangNing could be squirreled away at Luyuan Academy. Here's hoping.
ep17 "you saved me here. You abandoned me here. That's a sort of closure I guess" YZ showing a bit of backwoods humor.
But telling her he wanted to marry someone 'gentle, virtuous, who can manage a household' ?!?!?!?! He is going to have a hard time coming back after that one.
He is humble, loving and kind in her world. In his own world he is proud, closed off and irascible. He cant see his own duality . But like Song Yan, he is asking for everything and giving nothing. He suddenly says he cares but he is leaving her behind.
I love the Sui mansion in Baxia -- epically ominous, ghostly in the rain. Will CY rescue Bao-er here?
