That was hysterical when poor Xie Qi ran out of script. A friend and I have been counting other stage play refs in the last few eps -- SYQ on display like a stage prop, the lighting for the tent shadows scene, the HenryV walking through the camp at night trope..not sure why they are there but a definite presence.

True but not true. I was annoyed when this was so spoiled beforehand. Couldnt imagine it was true. Now I am so amazed that the director/writer made it seem so natural and predictable.

I had been sure that the butcher's cleaver was obviously her father's sword reforged.
But after it cut through General Shu's armor I am beginning to think that it is her mom's dad's sword -- General Meng's sword, with some sort of special properties?

I was worried that in the drama she would be confined only to rescuing women and children, traditionally ok areas for women to display strength and aggression. So yes.

@sanetaa, yes I do think its a little weird. I havent really worked out why she is like that, and probably it is better to wait until this arc is over. Some of people's ideas sound good, but still.

We could call this arc, "growing up time" -- for ChangYu (learning about how things work) and for JiuHeng (learning about love). Hopefully CY will stop being such a doofus.

If she was more literate in the novel, then what function does making her into a really wild innocent soul in the tv drama have? My instinct would be that it is part of the way the ML is also reshaped. He needs and wants that simplicity and purity.

The romance is really only just getting started. I wonder if it will even more different from the novel soon?

Flourished Peony (+second half In the Name of Blossom). I loved it.

I have to get going but on a distracting note -- the more I see of Xie Wu Brother the more I think he is on my minor hotties list. He wears armor well, can hold his own in closeups and one-on-one with the leads and has really good reaction-shot capability. Nice jawline too.

It seems to me that there are whole swathes of cultural preferences/different regions/different time periods/different art histories for the settings for love stories.
