EP18. In a kdrama, at 13.5 hrs, we would be done except for babies and maybe one attempted murder. Married, brave and praised by all can our leads relax? Nope, its Cdrama and the lead just referred to several disaster-bringing fireworks displays, and then he tries again. Ill omened.
EP17. Well then. I want to start a collection of the fanciest, weirdest, most complicated, most brilliant Cdrama weddings, but this one will have a special category! Fill-in the blanks, yall. Tender, intimate and private, like an anti-wedding (no family? heck?), but still...
When, earlier in the evening, drunk on the wedding wine (of course she saved it! ) they finally have a romantic discussion, after all this waiting, it was surprisingly and unexpectedly evocative.
I have things to say about the use of political speech in Cdrama being parallel to product placement in Kdrama, especially as to how they are changing. But, on the other hand, here i t is possible that I am only recognizing what may be obvious to speakers of mandarin, that political speech and poetic speech have a sort of generality that can be used to enrich lover's talk....especially in the long-term of 40 episodes.
Somehow all they finally said gathered up all the previous rancorous discussions of care for each others' welfare and made both of them seem more righteous, less obtuse. It gave her dignity and made it clear that each had been hearing what the other had to say under the surface, and both had been struggling with it.
My favorite move so far on the intimacy front was Li Xian's handsome hand on Yangzi's long neck as they dive back into bed the morning after.
How far ahead did Mu Dan plan? The wine was on the boat, carefully saved from the end of Part One? How long did she need to drill into Changyang's stubborn head that she would not leave him no matter what?
Enhypen on cantabile -- what about the Rose??????????????? All of these firsts also hit by the Rose????????????
I was talking about Coachella where the rose was a total crowd favorite, and the huge crowds the rose draws on its overseas tours. And its musicianship and its ever evolving. self recreation. I still hope for August, when the rose will be back home in seoul...
EP18 standouts! Yonghwa! Still the best growl and shout (cnblue), but he came on as a solo act and his soft vocals were brilliant.
Check out G0nny, PBG's find, she was great, young and infectious . PBG posts younger acts of his choice online too, and the show has an online duet place and issues some material.
New clips out and what do we learn:1. Looks like JCY is demoted - no gold belt. 2. House arrest?3. Divorce4. She's…
oooh. thanks for the update. but please please put yr spoiler veil on. sometimes i want to know ahead of time but sometimes i dont. here in northeast us on viki we get new eps late at night as well as being behind yr viewing schedule, so right now i am only at ep14.
I'm behind as I have been a bit busy lately. I am on episode 7 now and want to check on anyone who has read this…
I would go with two themes -- the tragedy of obsessive love and the'absolute power corrupts absolutely'. Any historical Cdrama is definitely not going for realism, but they do love 'great' themes.
The County Princess demanded that Liu Chang , her long-time lover, not consummate his marriage to mu dan so she could have him. Liu Chang's obsession with mu dan is plain wild operatic madness . He never loved her while he had her but now that he divorced her he wants her? Nutcase obsessive possessive male weirdness. The County Princess' craziness comes from close contact with his, I think...or just because she is a wildly spoiled imperial brat prone to excessive romanticism.
ep14. close but yet so far. mu dan once gave consort shu some interesting advice abt pretending to be drunk or asleep to declare or elicit confession. So many drama romances only kick into gear after excessive drinking or viewing of the loved one napping. Things could be said...
poor jiangyang didnt even pretend and still no success! maybe things are changing under the surface.
That was pretty noble of jiangyang to forgive mu dan's 'brother' for meddling -- I guess life in extended families requires forbearance that I would find difficult to produce.
Kim Min Ju is young. She was the school presidents daughter in undercover highschool. Hope it goes well. Wish them both luck, even if the pairing doesnt work out.
Nope, its Cdrama and the lead just referred to several disaster-bringing fireworks displays, and then he tries again. Ill omened.
sorry abt below, i missed the spoiler button at the last minute.

Grown-up love can frighten the lovers themselves.
