out 0f 24 eps, the midpoint is 12...we should see something positive then? But that is the 16 ep kdrama formula.

However so far in cdrama I am seeing more of a division into thirds, where the first rapprochement is at the first third and the real intimacy starts at 2nd third...so that would be at 8 and 16...

Although cdrama is much more nervewracking, I think we can likewise in romance drama like this still predict a happy ending.

But my heart is really breaking right now. As intended, I suspect.

courage! Allons y mauvaise troupe!

Dont worry. This is so much better. soon she will b e protected as much as is possible in a world where a woman alone or outstanding is constantly threatened. I like the realism and the Cary Grant romance. wait for the sweetness.

Why do you find her irritating? Is it bcs of her real life character or in the drama?
A lot of criticism of female actors when the problem is how female roles are written in kdrama (passive, self-obstructing etc etc). My feeling is that the SK female actors do their best in an extremely difficult social situation, but the money and the older fans in SK are a bit stuck-in-the-mud.

This show makes fun of the reasons why women like kdrama -- a place to be silly, girlish, dress in pretty clothes and escape the harsher realities of dating. Even tho in RL most of us dont play girlish at all. If you cant laugh at yourself then this isnt for you?

I love this review. I dont read other people's until I get mine done, and if I had read yours I might not have written anything at all! I really like the long reviews other people write. In contrast I really try hard to write shortish reviews, but I just couldnt with this show. Respect for your skill at long form.

Not about 'friendship'. Rosa and Sang-wol were in love, real hearts and flowers love. The preface to her book of poems love. I thought it was pretty daring but nice for pride month..

Yes I love it when they call each other darling in pretense but clearly get a kick out of it.

The intro summary is a little confused -- it didnt help me to remeber who lian zhou was when the show started.

Think the show was fantastic. Found out that the Korean title was Mi Ji's/Yet unwritten (play on Mi Ji's name) Seoul and it made sense for me of some of the plot.

I thought Our Unwritten Seoul as a title was pretty good as it fronted the poet and her dyslexic love, and alluded to in English, writing yr own story etc. But it flattened out Miji's and Hosu' centrality.

I liked Bo-Young'd strength as Mirae but unless you can focus on MiJi's struggle with the idea of Seoul, the ending for Mirae and Sejin seems truncated. Why else were the stories of the poet's love and the mom's for her husband brought up near the end? Sweeteners to set the mood, I thunk.

Lots of pairs but empathy was Miji's theme alone. I liked Mirae and Sejin too and agree that they could carry a spinoff.

This is growing on me. The FL hopefully has stopped Emma-ing around (enough with the Jane Austen tropes!). Taecyeon is starting to seem more attractive (cute? hot?) -- he tries it on for a second night but isnt bothersome abt her refusal. It's overall pretty to watch, relatively funny and gives me something to see midweek-ish.

ep10 -- perfect kdrama moment. the episode finishes, you realize not only have you been crying nonstop but the plot has slapped you upside the head, taken your breath away and now you are seeing stars. And poetry.

So the chairwomen was obsessed with getting 3 stars, but took it her stride to completely annoy the editor in…
she won momentarily but lost that war -- Michelin will never award her anything again if that French Dad-in-law has anything to do with it. she was going for max temporary publicity in order to support the other product lines of the company, i think. She lost her chef from Motto too and her youngest son but she is a truly practical businesswoman, isnt she? Family dinners are going to be very interesting if her new daughter-in-law even agrees to show up for them!

I have loved them so much, too. But everything changes, in the end. Are you watching unwritten seoul? So clever -- 12 eps at 1hr 20mins equals exactly the std 16 hr old series!!!

romantic kdramas just dont have that vibe n plotlines anymoreeveything looks just so real life n averagewhich…
I honestly think that your honesty is spot on! I started these watches bec I wanted to escape RL too. But also out of curiousity about how the formula worked. Kdrama is now moving out of its patterned groove into something with more realistic touches. The formulas are changing.

The absolute magic of kdrama had something to do with those formulas. ( As well as the amazing supporting characters and the amazing music) Will it be the same? The internationalization of the audience and the money will bring inevitable changes -- its art after all and the patrons matter.

Right now no one in the english reviewing world is not happy with anything. They complain if it isnt classic formula, if it is classic formuka, if there are no kisses...Much of the english-speaking audience is a drop in the bucket sizewise, except for reviewers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh who write in English.

The spanish-speaking audience (a humongous one) is ok with some of the changes. Likewise the utterly huge southeast and east asian audiences are ok with more realism and some changes to plot patterns altho still not happy with too much skin.

Title Tastefully Yours Spoiler
While writing a review I was tjhinking about Park Dhan Hee (director). In Weak Hero and Weak Hero two he demonstrated incredible restraint and a sort of combination of std and non=standard tropes.
I realized that over and over again in TY he /the writer sets up basic kdramaexpec tations and then pulls the rug out from under them. Looking at it htis way its a very cool show.

The biggest rug-puller being that Minsi does not win the three stars in the cookoff, her team does. Oddly realistic since 'en batterie' kitchens work under the chef's supervision but the cooks just under him/her actually cook. Min Si is classically trained!
