Wow. That was a strong-willed director to keep KJH in line. A great artist, he is a scene-stealer from the getgo. The teamup and balance between the three mains was sweet -- the love story kept its prickly tenderness, and the palace story was also fully developed. Something for everyone. Massive love for KJH.
This was a really great show and will be on a list of hidden gems eternally because of a few bad initial reviews. It was self-indulgent for people to get so worked up and anxious over a romance before it got worked out. Many reviewers seem to have watched themselves performing rather than the show.
This show stayed in NETFLIX's top ten list worldwide for the entire length of its run. . There is really no excuse for trying to make light of that fact. Who do yall think was watching that show? Well, yeah, a huge swath of NF's worldwide viewership.
Was it AI? Paid down-raters? a feeding frenzy? Once all the thousands and thousands of people who loved this have weighed in, is anybody going to kneel in the hall with their laptops held above their heads? For shame.

ep.15 the FL is definitely a brat. Unable to control her own feelings she still strikes back at the ML when he unexpectedly appears. There is a fine line between being full of spirit(='passionate') and being so wilful. She expresses her hurt at being deceived as anger automatically .
Ep.7 She said to her sensei (chef tatsuo) that she hasnt yet discovered how she wants to cook, but that she feels she is near to it. So that she may not be destroyed by losing her recipe book because she is on the verge of a whole new set.
Ep8 And the recipe book for how she has been cooking is back physically in her hands as solid evidence for a lawsuit. The main problem is that beom-woo is exposed as an ex-jerk. My feeling is that his brother looks repentant and will straighten out some of the narrative for YeonJoo.
I have watched romance dramas without the leads even touching each other once but u can feel the tension and chemistry.…
The FL character wants and is getting a no-frills limited friends with benefits. For LHC this may have looked like a racy compromise with her needs as an actress and the genre.
Given that the ML loves her with all his heart, this is a pretty painful watch, but not unfamiliar if a person has been out and about in the modern world?

I feel like Im at a bar and two patrons next to me are drunkenly repeating the same thing to each other over and over -- I dont want to be rude but all this repetitive hating is really getting annoying. And it is only happening here in the bowels of mdl. Urgh.
And there is a lot of super trashy language being used too.
So, starting at the top, the novel has an FL protagonist who wants to explore sensuality. This drama has a button-eyed, skittish but daring almost-woman (LHC) who chooses her man after quite a bit of hesitation and darting back and forth. The first thing she does is dare him and leans in for a kiss.
He (WAY), on the other hand, fell in love with her in the first episode. They become a couple who are half-comforting each other and half-daringly-experimenting with love. Is he is Mr.Ultimate Responsible -- the one true lover? Her dad thinks so.
In this sort of coming of age story if she is the protagonist then she will not suffer no matter what happens. I dread there being a bad ending for him. But the music and plot seem pretty simple and positive, so maybe we shouldnt feel nervous. But I am. Which will it be? Marriage or broken hearts?
I am getting really old-fashioned vibes over the use of passionate in the english title -- it sounds like a 1920s novel about passionate youth building the future, usually involving architecture...
Real food is *never* used when filming; the reasons are obvious: costs and looks.
I think I meant the illusion of reality? But I also meant that the recipes are real ones, or at least someone made more of an effort than usual to make them seem so.
Judging from netflix/flixpatrol this is a worldwide hit, esp. in the spanish or south asian markets. I love its big production values and small sets. Enjoying myself mightily. As I have said elsewhere: real food! real food prep! people eating with real chewing sounds! Good comedic acting! Go Min Si keeping her own clever counsel!
