Childhood/family friends and he already had a thing for Gene, but I guess Nubsib goes abroad or something so Gene isn't remembering him yet. I actually like this! At first Nubsib was kinda worrying me.... that he was being very suspicious, but this explanation makes it feel less sinister haha

I do have to say the step sibling thing is a huge trope in straight stuff too. I do think they should have cast a teenager instead of using the same actor since the step brother thing is already iffy with some people... I didnt find the scene sexual or romantic but I do think if they used a teenager the age gap wouldn't have look so massive.

But they didn't actually grow up together. He didn't live with them until later because he lived with his mom and not his father and step mother. And he also refused to take his fathers last name because he isn't that close to this father and step mother and never saw him as a brother. Age gap is another trope... 10 years is only HUGE when you are young, but the older you get 10 years isn't that big and as long as EVERYONE is a legal adult.

I actually find the stalking and shipping chick more problematic. I do understand these tropes aren't for everyone though. So it's not like I'm gonna try and change your mind.

But they didn't really grow up together since birth. They said that Yongjie didn't live with them until later. And he also refused to take his fathers last name because he doesn't really him as his parent or Ye Xing Si as his brother. I guess personally it doesn't bother me if they aren't related by blood. I mean this isn't the first or even second time HIStory had a step sibling story. I mean I get this trope is not for everyone though.

well personally I only find it problematic if they are blood related or if there is a power issue dynamic (like step parents and step children... that is different because one is in a position of power that can be exploited and abused). I guess I dont see as big of an issue if two adults get married and then their individual children become romantic. I understand you think this is very problematic, but I dont see a huge difference between family friends or childhood friends becoming romantic and stepbrothers who didn't grow up together since birth.

Oh I mean I agree. I think they were talking about someone else fighting, but then he came out with that bruise and it was like... Hmm maybe look at yourself parents.. I think they just don't know or don't want to know the full extent.

I liked them all EXCEPT the very first one HIStory: My Hero... I actually hated it. Glad I didn't actually watch in order!

I didn't see it has them doing anything remotely sexual or romantic. It felt more like an awakening for Yongjie that he liked when Xingsi took care of him etc.

I mean they aren't related. They were brought together by marriage. I can get why that isn't a trope for everyone. Yeah the younger brother has some type of attachment disorder (maybe not that.. but something) or issues with affection and emotions. It's almost like they are use to his behavior and they probably don't know the full extent of his other behaviors. I wonder if they don't FULLY grasp how serious it is.

I agree. I can understand why that trope isn't for everyone.. but if they aren't blood related it doesn't bother me. The stalking is more of the issue at the moment.. but I'm intrigued where they will go with that.
