This drama has very good cinematography, choreography, settings, bgm and CGI. They filmed everything in Hengdian studio during last year's summer. All the snow and mountains in far background are fake, but the onscreen output looks better than some high budget dramas that went to Xinjiang recently. Maggie Huang posted a BTS filming photo of her first appearance and talked about the fake snow in the summer, it was far from the magical snowy athmosphere that we saw in episode 4.

I have an issue with the scripts, but this drama has a good BTS crew that deserve credits. The product was better than what I expected as a recent purely wuxia drama(not wuxia romance/wuxia fantasy/wuxia detective...) , if only the script/storyline was better. I think they poured all their budget into the production and left with nothing in the end, they couldn't even afford a realtime trending hot search in weibo.

Yeah the female characters are independent strong woman who have their own specialties ^^

It's so obvious from episode 20 that old man Sun will fall into the trap with the weird evil sects and Miao will be dragged in - _-

Her character(and her lover Tian) is majorly whitewashed in this drama, in the novel all the fault lies with her and Tian but the drama script shifted the fault to Miao

Interested in ML, but quickly found that ML has a love interest LOL.. poor Ms Cheng

We don't know yet, but the trailer is hinting that he's with neither of them

Yeah I don't think he's ugly he looks like Chen Kun from some angle(just Chen Kun is more beautiful IMO haha).

Maybe some others have different aesthetic preference and prefer the pretty boys type.

LOL this old school wuxia with lots of fighting you can't expect the boys to look pretty like in Xianxia or normal historical drama 🤣

LOL even in the book Miao is not a main character, but yeah the drama team seem more eager to add the scenes of Tian and Nan(despite Jin Yong warning) rather than elaborating more on the complex brotherhood and revenge line

She is poison master's disciple who become main character's sworn sister, she secretly harbor romantic feelings for him though and helped him a lot in his quest, she's very smart
