From what the article says, it's not a sageuk but a fantasy drama. Even if the Eastern Empire is portrayed sageuk-style, the male lead plays the Western prince, who belongs to a totally different world.

You know, few people read books and many watch movies and TV. Maybe it's for that reason that when something is in a novel there isn't much noise, but if it's made into a movie or TV show then it becomes a huge matter.
This happened with "The Last Temptation", a novel by Greek novelist Nikos Kazantzakis. Some little fuss when it was first published in 1955. Fast forward to 1988 and its film adaptation by Martin Scorsese as The Last Temptation of Christ (starring Willem Dafoe).

Yet all those people had said nothing about the book, which had been circulating for more than 30 years and deemed a classic of Greek literature.

Most fat people I know (including me), love food and overeat. Strangely, I think that The Double gained a lot by ditching the reincarnation and making it about the same person escaping and coming back to the "scene of the crime" to take revenge.

The show did drag a bit in the second part, to this I agree. This is probably because the material they had was good for a 16-episode show, and they had to somehow fill up 30 episodes. I feel that's the case for many Chinese dramas.
