To be fair, the FL never told him whereas she had numerous chances to do so, for instance at the end of ep.12 beginning of 13. I think she didn't tell him because she thought that his (and her mom's) advice would be "get over it, those things can happen".
She also left without telling him why. The flashback about her father’s company failing was really helpful to…
I understood that her leaving was hastened or triggered by the situation at home, but was not the main reason. Otherwise, if everything was well between them, she would have told him "I have to go home for a while because they need me, but I'll be back" or something like that. She didn't even know that her father was at the hospital, she only learned that when she arrived. So I can understand she didn't tell him of the bankrupcy because she didn't want him to misunderstand that this was the only reason for her leaving him, but that she would have left him even without that. Although nothing was clear-cut. Maybe if there wasn't the Korea emergency she would have left him anyway or maybe she would have tried one last time to have a conversation without fighting. We don't know and she probably doesn't know either.
Yes! Finally the happy ending we were craving. Such a poetic drama, made with sensitivity and attention to detail, visually appealing. I especially liked the lighting choices, so warm and light in the good moments and cold, wintery and dreary when things got wrong and in present day scenes. Until the very end, when spring came again with its blossoms. The symbolism of them running together matching their pace was a bit cheesy but okay, I see what they did there. I liked that she finally conceded her part of responsibility, but I would have liked her to say why she felt it was her fault, because this was never touched in the whole drama. - I didn't go to work, I just stayed at home and moped - I didn't go to college as was the initial plan, which would also have made me meet lots of new friends. - I didn't try to hang out with the few people I knew from Ichiro's, who might have introduced me to their families, siblings and friends, so that I would get my own circle of acquaintances, instead of only depending on you for company and entertainment.
All this, without dismissing his own faults, which were many. Not only dismissing her problem and not taking the time to talk it out with her, but also not answering her calls, not sending an SMS when he was going to be late etc. But it was very unbalanced. His were repeated again and again, whereas hers were just given lip service with a generic sentence at the very end of the drama. And he never replied to the question why he didn't stop her or pursue her after she left.
Also... where are they going to live now? How exactly are they going to prevent the same thing from happening again? I know that an explanation of this wouldn't fit into the poetic ending, but it could be slipped in a conversation with her father - for instance, his contemplating a branch in Japan... Something!
These are the only flaws of an otherwise very satisfying drama, wonderfully shot and acting, with relatively few clichés. Well done!
The same as her logic to disregard his emotions and cry over a guy who made her depressed. He spent years next…
He knew she didn't love him. Remember that scene when she tries to say "Frankly, I..." and he says "have a bit of this food. Just eat. Maybe you will change your mind and in the future you won't even remember what you wanted to say. We all change as we go on living" (or something like that). He stopped her from saying it, he knew what she was going to say and he CHOSE to disregard it, hoping that she would grow to love him with time. At that point, I cannot feel pity for him. And going to talk to Jungo means he felt threatened, he wasn't at all sure of his relationship with her, he knew very well that she would be swayed by her old love. On the contrary, she, as soon as she realized her feelings, went straight up to break up, burning her bridges, and that BEFORE she was even sure she could have Jungo. On the contrary, she thinks she won't have either of the men and will end up alone. Yet she is completely honest. None of them is a victim. But both the main leads have been honest and very clear with the second leads who are super-clingy although they know fully well that the person doesn't reciprocate their feelings. I fail to understand how you fail to see this.

And also, being a medical resident, we know from other dramas that they work long hours and practically live in the hospital. How can he promise he won't leave her alone?
She's making the same mistake, she's looking at his eyes, seeing his love and pains... She's forgetting she actually…
I didn't see him giving up. Well, he did backtrack a little when he learned she was about to get married. But after that, he made a public confession, saying that he has never stopped loving her. He was clear about that. But when someone tells you they're engaged to be married, you cannot take the person in your arms and make promises, you assume she has moved on. It's her turn to express that she hasn't.

People evolve and mature, and learn from their mistakes. Especially if they have faced consequences because of them. It doesn't always happen, but it does happen. In this story, both those people are not the same they were five years ago.

"She would look pretty if she lost weight" doesn't mean that everyone looks pretty if they're thin. Some people will still be ugly when they lose the weight. Every person is different. But most fat people will benefit from losing at least some of the weight. Because the fat drowns the features, the eyes look smaller etc. Not to mention the body. An obese person cannot be pretty, but you can discern beautiful features under all that layers, and can try to guess how she would look if she got rid of them. Sometimes the guess is right, sometimes it's not. For instance the actress' face in her thin version is not as pretty as the fat version makes us suppose that she would be. If anything, she's a bit too gaunt - at least in my personal opinion.
It's totally dumb ,they should have cast an actual fat person then waste 7 hours doing makepup
Look, it's not just about that particular actor and that particular role. Everyone knows that losing weight too quickly is dangerous. Plus it will lead to terrible skin sagging and the person will look haggard and awful. Especially for an actor or actress, it's the last thing you want.

Think, just for a bit. How long is the shooting for a movie or even a drama? Two, three months? Five months? Maximum. How long does a 117 kg person need to reach 50-52 kilos (actual weights of the character in the drama)? It's much too quick. But even if she's able to do it, it may be dangerous for her health. And what happens if she is not able to reach this goal on time? Should the whole shooting be delayed? Plus, the show has flashbacks since the first episodes that show her slim, how would they be able to do that? Wait until she loses the weight to film them? Oh, and if she was less fat, it wouldn't have the same impact on the story.

It's called a review. In what way this prevents you from enjoying the drama? By reading the first couple of paragraphs you can surely see that she didn't like it, so why read on and spoil your mood? Just go to some other page.
It wasn't the ML actor that had me switching this off after just 1 episode like I expected. No, it was the sister.…
What negative stereotypes? Yes, South Korea has stringent beauty standards, but in this case I didn't see anything amiss in the scenes you mentioned (mostly from the 1st episode) 1. Most fat peope overeat, it's a fact. Only a tiny minority gets fat because of health conditions. Yes, we typically love food, think about food, browse recipes to make or online shops to order from and the smell coming out of physical bakeries makes them one of the worst temptations. 2. Asians love snacks like chips. Even thin people eat this junk all the time in dramas (especially Chinese ones, it always makes me wonder how many toxic chemicals they're ingesting). 3. The buttons. Fat people do buy their own size WHEN they are able to find it (not that easy in European or Asian countries). But even then, you can always get fatter, so when they do gain more weight, the previous size gets too tight. It's often an upward journey to more and more weight, so the button situation can totally happen. Especially if you've just eaten a meal, or if you bend too much and strain the thread. So I'm not sure why you would feel like that. Maybe you are a thin person, in which case it's natural that you honestly have no idea about how it is for us and that's why you think that the depiction is exaggerated.

Talk it out? Like what? Let him try to convince her and her having to say all those things over again? Or him ask for details about her feelings and her not wish to give any? She said everything that needed to be said at that point. Later on, if needed, they can talk more calmly. When you say "impulsive", do you mean that if she let things cool off for a few days, she should come back to wanting to marry him? We saw how little enthusiasm she had for the marriage even before Jungo showed up. She realized that she doesn't feel love for him, only liking as a companion and friend. Therefore it would be bad not only for her but also for him if she married him, because none of them would be happy. She realized that all this time she had yielded because it was the "reasonable" thing to do, not because she really wanted this man at her side as her husband. This is something that had been brewing for a while, it didn't happen only because she saw Jungo again. His presence just made her realize how she really felt, by seeing the difference of her reaction to one man and to the other.
