We colunteers only get to do the editing, and put those missing things back (you'd think that Viki would instruct the paid subbers to do that since that's what their particular audience wants, but no they don't). In this particular drama (DNA lover), I am not in the English editing team, I am Italian moderator/editor. (I was English editor in Serendipity's Embrace.)

You seem to be making some good points, but my friend, your lack of punctuation is giving me a headache. Just ellipsis instead of any other form.

Isn't it usually a combination of both? The actor gets the offer which is based on past successful roles and doesn't have the guts to say no and wait for something different (or the agency won't let them stray from the known track)

What you described is one type of SML. The other type is the loyal childhood friend who has never expressed himself, and now sees someone else snatch her away, so he decides to keep silent, be noble and step aside, sacrificing himself and even helping the couple.
Both are clichés, and both have been done so many times that we're sick of them.

I also loved it. In the beginning, I thought it was a copy of Twinkling Watermelon, but it did many things differently. Not perfect, but a very good one. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

The character, yes. Seems to come from a 2005 Korean rom-com. One would think that they hade gone past that type of female lead. But this year we also had Don't Dare to Love Me, with a similar cringe-worthy pathetic drunk female lead. Ugh. Is it making a comeback? Just when Chinese dramas started to slowly steer away from the childish heroines.

That's not me, at least. I love Choi Siwon as an actor and I always watch him with pleasure. But the writing here is so bad.

Name-calling whoever doesn't agree with your opinion only reflects on you and shows you are not able to have civilized dialogue. I don't want to be too harsh though, since it's likely that you are young, in which case it's not your fault that your caregivers haven't taught you those skills which are crucial in order to navigate and survive in human society.

Sorry to hear that. But he was very good in it, wasn't he? Great range of emotions. He actually manages to be good even in this one.
