Yes we will have a red flag ML this time as per his character in the novel. But let see how they’re gonna portray…
My expectations? They've got a mind of their own. 😂 Whether this drama crushes it, totally misses it, or blows it out of the water—I'm chill. What really matters is if it grabs me by the feels and doesn’t let go. If it hooks me, I'm in for the long haul; if not, well… on to the next drama.

I read somewhere that there's a 3rd male lead in the novel who saves her and that in the drama they merged the 1st ML and 3rd ML into one character. Is that true?

Such a red flag character is going to be interesting—this is gonna be fun! They’ll really have to work some magic to make the male lead both realistically flawed and somehow redeemable because we’re not here for surface-level 'bad boy turned good' clichés. And our girl? She’s gotta see something special and good in him—not just some ‘fixer-upper’ project—so she doesn’t lose her own spark just to give him a chance. This is the kind of tightrope drama that keeps me glued. Can’t wait to see how they pull this off!

Got a link to that spoiler? Didn’t catch anything like it in trailers or clips—just caught the torture scene…
Omg, the intensity!! Heart racing just watching that clip! First time seeing Lusi play this kind of role—she's killing it! Is this the moment he betrays her for revenge?? 👀 To anyone who's watched The Long Ballad, spill the tea: was Hao Du a multi layered morally grey character? Did Liu Yu Ning pull off those conflicted feels? Just wanna know if he’s got that emotional depth for a complex male lead!

Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
I just saw a spoiler of the female lead being tortured by the male lead? And let me just say that IM SHOCKED
Got a link to that spoiler? Didn’t catch anything like it in trailers or clips—just caught the torture scene with the slaver/foreman here: https://x.com/ZLYM_TLOJ/status/1850002491644977456

If the ML actually tortured the FL, that's a one-way ticket to Villainville. But hey, I saw the neck grab, so I'm holding judgment until we see the full context. FL here is fierce, tough as nails, and not afraid to throw a punch or two. So, if any baddie thinks he can mess with her—oh, he's in for some serious regret. Rooting for a well-placed knee and a side of instant karma!

I really disliked the way they ended up back together, it's annoying that she was ignoring him and keeping him…
I could relate to her decision because I would do the same. I don't see it as holding grudges because I feel that she already forgave him by saving his life and helping him get justice. It was more like she was afraid to give him another chance for fear of getting hurt again. Keep in mind that she almost gave up on life and was physically sick when she thought he died from the cliff. If burned once, it's only human nature to avoid the source of the pain. Like her, I tend to close off and avoid things/people who have hurt me. Only by almost losing him again was she brave enough to risk her heart and be with him again.

I can’t wait to see where The Story of Pearl Girl takes us! Not just for the powerful, female-led journey but because we’re diving headfirst into the best trope ever – enemies-to-friends (My faves are Pride and Prejudice and Nikita) but juiced up to a whole new level with friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers arc? I’m talking emotional whiplash and I’m absolutely here for. And for this to really hit? The clash between these two has to be legit – not a single petty misunderstanding in sight! I'm talking about deep, character-driven conflict – rooted in clashing values, messy histories, and the kind of tension that practically crackles on screen. Forget a quick-fix friendship by episode three; I want realism, growth, and fireworks!

Watching the ML and FL bump heads, face their own baggage, and go from enemies to something way deeper? Yes, please. The back-and-forth tension paired with those soft, vulnerable moments (where they just can't help but care) is the ultimate hook. I want a morally grey ML who’s as frustrating as he is intriguing – flawed but oh-so-charming – and a fierce, torn FL who can’t decide if she wants to punch him (along with trying to stab him) or catch feelings. Throw in those little moments of unintentional softness and lingering eye contact, and you’ve got me glued. Beneath all the revenge, angst, and backstabbing, I want that hint of mutual respect, that little “I see you” simmering under the surface. By the end, we need that payoff: forgiveness, redemption, and deep love they didn’t even see coming. Let’s hope Zhao Lu Si and Liu Yu Ning bring every ounce of sass, grit, and heart to make this one unforgettable!

Lusi's MDL pages are on fire—hotter than a free pizza giveaway! Thanks to everyone dropping updates (minus the snoozy troll who brings all the excitement of a broken remote). My hype levels? Sky. High. 'The Story of Pearl Girl' is promising all the good stuff: deep and dynamic characters, plot twists with some emotional whiplash, and the intensity to blow our minds and shatter what we 'think' we know about Lusi’s range. I’m ready! Aaaaaahhh!

Oh, I see. Totally get you. For me, too. It’s all about the characters and storyline—that’s the heart of any good drama. But still, everyone’s gotta pull their weight if it’s gonna go from ‘pretty good’ to ‘absolute masterpiece.’ It’s like they say: a team’s only as good as its weakest link. The director’s basically the chef, making sure everything’s cooked to perfection, but you still need those top-tier ingredients, a killer kitchen, and some seriously talented sous chefs to bring it all together. No one wants a five-star meal with a side of burnt toast.

What's wrong with the director? I looked at his list of drama and they seem to have decent ratings here. That's why I don't get the comments about the director not being good.

I feel exactly the same way. I keep rewatching her dramas because I can't seem to get interested in anything.…
Ooh, Thai drama? Color me intrigued! I stumbled on some clips of Boys Over Flowers with Tontawan a while back, got all excited, and went on a mission to find it—zero luck. But hey, I’m determined! Now adding Bad Romeo, and Kleun Cheewit to the list. Gonna make these my Thai drama debut. Fingers crossed for a binge-worthy adventure.

Title Mr. Queen Spoiler
so at the end ml get with his cheater wife that don't love him and he thinks it's the man fl personality that…
To each their own, but I think your take is pretty surface-level, just focusing on what they did. That's not a hateful dig at your comment but just my humble opinion. My interpretation digs deeper—it's about their actions, words, thoughts, and the whole tangled mess of their history and growth. The FL was battling depression, even suicidal. The SML initiated the kiss selfishly, and she kissed back not out of love, but out of that dark mental place she was in. I totally get unrequited love, so I understand why the SML did it. They were two broken souls kissing out of their shared misery. One kiss where she ran away afterwards. Cheating? Eh, to me, it’s debatable. But the SML redeemed himself when he died protecting her—love that last-minute redemption arc.

As for Bong Hwan, he’s the wild card—the one who broke the FL and ML out of their shells and pushed their growth. He’s the part of FL she kept hidden to survive palace life, and the side of her the ML first met as a kid. Honestly, they are each other's first love, as kids, and later as adults, only to be shadowed by the chains of their past, family, lies, and revenge. It's a happy ending to me because FL and ML broke those chains and all three saved each other. Who the ML actually love is debatable and is left to the viewers' interpretation. I like flawed characters because they are more interesting and have depth. And when they redeem themselves in an epic way, they become unforgettable.

The wait for The Story of Pearl Girl is slowly driving me bonkers. Y'all comments are the only thing keeping me sane right now... even the dang trolls and haters are now somewhat entertaining...😂 In the past month, I've binged Mr. Queen, Hidden Love, and Who Rules The World—yet here we are, still two weeks away. Someone hold me, I might actually cry. To make things worse (or better?), I've been going down a rabbit hole of Zhao Lu Si’s BTS clips from Love Like the Galaxy, The Last Immortal, Hidden Love, Gen Z, and Who Rules The World. Girl has set the bar way too high, and now I’m ruined! The only other actresses I found who come close are Liu Yi Fei and Shin Hye Sun... or maybe I’m just too picky when it comes to storylines? Please, hit me with some solid recommendations before I lose it. 🙏😭

Person Zhao Lu Si
Houlang's Executive Producer shares about his talk with #ZhaoLusi 🎞️ 🎥 "During our filming period, I asked…
Thanks for sharing the vid! Honestly, her words just confirm what I've always thought: she's totally self-aware of where she's at with her skills and strengths. Like I said in my previous post, she's smart and realistic about her journey, which I respect. Some actors/actresses get so overconfident to the point of hubris because they have a fancy degree or strong connections in the industry. But Zhao Lusi? In my humble opinion, she’s different. She started from humble beginnings, which keeps her grounded and so much more relatable—at least to those of us who aren’t toxic.

She doesn’t have some prestigious film school background or professional training, and yeah, she studied fashion design. And people have actually tried to criticize her for that. It’s like they’re trying to gatekeep the industry and limit her success because she didn’t follow the “traditional” route. But let’s be real—if all it took to make it as an actress was beauty, hard work, connections, and a fancy degree, then every good-looking grad from a film academy would be a superstar by now. Spoiler: They're not!

Fei Zhen Xiang (LLTG’s director) hit the nail on the head when he said some actors have a natural acting talent that just sets them apart from every hard working actors. It’s not something you can learn or teach—either you’ve got it or you don’t. And Lusi's got it. Combine that raw talent with her emotional intelligence, humble attitude, killer work ethic, and eagerness to learn, it’s no wonder she’s become the ultimate underdog to root for.

"I Have Someone I Like" is one of the best OST from cdrama world 😍.. I've already downloaded it on my phone…
Forever Star? On my playlist, obviously—right next to 'Be Your Light'. Honestly, the entire Hidden Love OST is permanently parked on my playlist. 🥰Everyone in that drama nailed it! From TLI, 'Greedy Expectations,' 'Hidden Heart,' 'Flower Wish'—I mean, who knew Wang Anyu could sing like that? And let’s not forget Lusi's Guzheng cover of the LLTG OST—I wasn’t ready for how impressed I’d be. I love string instruments and I'm a sucker for wicked guitar riffs. Yeah, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, they own a piece of my soul. Now, I’m diving headfirst into Chinese music, and Hidden Love was my gateway drug. 🤟

And my current fave K-drama OST: Beautiful, Love You With All My Heart, Here I am, The Reasons of My Smiles.
