everything just happened in ep5!!! I’m so excited that the reality show has started. I’m even up for the potential love triangle with Jae Hoon having a romance on the show and hopefully behind the scenes with him and Yeo Reum getting romantically closer!
this gets better each episode!!! I feel weird saying this considering how brilliantly wacky and over the top the comedy is, but these 2 leads are some of the most painfully real and true lead characters I’ve seen in a BL in a while. this is wonderful!
I’m finding Y Idol the easiest storyline to watch so far. New Ship was seriously good, with 2 incredible lead performances, but it was so so dark from start to finish that I found it hard to get through. And I never really got into War of Managers, didn’t love the characters and the plot annoyed me too much, bit the twist was fun. But with Y Idol whilst it has darker elements it’s not yet dark enough that I need to mentally prepare myself before watching it, the storyline and setting are interesting and engaging and I’m intrigued by the characters, currently I feel like I really understand Peek, but Kla im still figuring out. it’s the first time I’m actually looking forward to the next episode of this whole series! New Ship is so good I don’t know if it can be beaten, but Y Idol is looking like a contender! one thing is - I wish they were clearer about what is being filmed and what isn’t - I wish they’d explained the filming situation a little, clearly there aren’t cameras in every room in the house constantly filming, but there was at the pool? Also I feel like training would be being filmed, but it’s not? and Dew with those stuffed toys is so so distracting and stupid - makes me lose it every time!
this writer always delivers on what I want! all her projects have a similar warm comforting vibe, with just that little bit of trauma - and I eat them all up! so happy she teamed up with this director again too!
I was seriously not a fan of Kissable lips and so I’m so surprised by how much I absolutely loved the first 2 episodes of this! I’m so in! this is the slow burn hate to love story including a ridiculous spoilt chaebol that I’ve been looking for!
I went into this expectating to see 2 people who actually 100% see each other as just-friends, but what I’ve got instead is basically a married couple and surprisingly I’m not disappointed about that- they’re adorable!
this is so so special! From the premise this seems like a BL we’ve seen countless times, but there really hasn’t been one like this before. It’s just got this magic and nostalgia to it - New has outdone himself here - certainly a step up from UWMA and a huge step up from his gmmtv series this year. In opinion definitely one of the most underrated dramas of 2022 - such a gem. I’m so glad I started watching this thinking I wouldn’t make it more than 5mins but months later I’m so emotionally invested that I’ve shed a ridiculous amount of tears over this stunning series!
im so excited for this, but there’s a tiny part of me that worries we are going to get another Unforgotten Night…but mostly I’m feeling it’ll be amazing!
It's meant to be messy and complicated though that was the point? Had it been less broken and healthier it would…
I know. I was just was expressing why I didn’t enjoy it. My post was me just stating why I personally didn’t love the story and why it made me feel uncomfortable. I think the story accomplished what it was set out to, but it just ended up being not my type of story. You are completely right though - it is meant to be messy and complicated - I usually love messy/complicated stories but not this one - as I said it just made me uncomfortable- but I’ve seen a lot of people who didn’t feel that way
I think my problem with this series is exactly why some people love this so much - I think for me it’s too much like a play - which makes sense considering this directors background is in plays. The scenes all really took their time - we had almost multiple episodes that were just conversations about the past and they just didn’t work for me. I think it’s because there weren’t many revelations in those conversations - we all could guess from the beginning about Wangs Dad and Ins relationship- so I found the conversations a bit too slow for me. I know those scenes weren’t meant to be full of huge revelations, but I think that’s just why they didn’t work for me - they were too slow. i know a lot of people will disagree with me, but I also just found In and Wangs relationship way too messy, so much so it made me a little uncomfortable because they’re both very broken and confused characters and i personally felt their connection was hurting them more than healing them. Anyway I really thought I’d love this, but it just wasn’t for me, but I completely understand why others loved this and I felt all the actors were brilliant and played their parts perfectly.
At it’s core this kind of has a similar premise to ‘Senpai! This Can’t be Love’ but this is doing everything I wish that drama had done! I was so dissapointed with that drama, because I felt it could’ve been good if they told that story in a different way, but I’m completely obsessed with this after ep1. The leads are really interesting characters, very different from what I’ve seen before, and with good chemistry, I’m so excited to see where this goes! I also love the genre of humour in this - I’ve seen it it several Japanese dramas/films, but never a Japanese BL.
It is so mean for this to be on the mdl homepage as the top upcoming drama when we know this wont be coming out for ages - if ever - I look fondly back on April 2021 when I was new to this page and was so sure it'd be out on the 15th - I swear there has basically been hundreds of new 'air dates' since then!
I was a bit worried as I found News 2 GMMTV dramas to be so average this year, but My Only 12% is a masterpiece- in my opinion definitely News best series so far - and now I have so much faith this will be even better!
I think your enjoyment of this drama relies entirely on how much you like all the characters. Because the large majority of the drama is a game of cat and mouse, but personally I found Minato and Shin to be such deep, interesting and fun characters to watch, especially when they interacted, so I think I could’ve enjoyed 60 episodes of this, but if you don’t love the characters too much I can see why people might not love the repetitiveness of this drama. Also I think watching it week by week helped me with it not feeling too repetitive. But anyway this drama has so many of my all time favourite characters not just the incredibly talented 2 leads and their insane chemistry but Sakurako was a sweetheart, I expected to hate Sakuma Sensei but I loved how weird he was, Akiras ex had some of my favourite lines in the whole drama, Shu was even a fun adition, I love his dynamic with Asuka. And to this director please make this a tradition and give Oku Tomoya his own series in a couple years - just like you did with Takuya after Cherry Magic - He was incredible in this! I love this drama and it’s message - 3 whole months I was obsessed with this
I love this so so much and it’s definitely one of my new comfort watches, but the length let this drama down a bit! The first 6 episodes were perfect and took their time, but the final 2eps had to wrap so much up it felt rushed. And there were several scenes in the trailers that were cut, like in the trailer after Qi Zhangs confession, Ye Guangs response was that he only likes him as a friend, but in the final version they clearly had to cut that for time and have them become “official” over text. this could’ve been a 10/10 for me if the last 2 eps held up the standard of the previous episodes, but that being said I still really love this and Qi Zhang and Ye Guang are definitely going to be one of my favourite ships of the year for just being adorable, wholesome and healthy. Also my favourite bl soundtrack ever! I hope someone gives this director the funding/episode count she deserves, because I truly love everything she’s done - and hopefully after this they will let us see more Taiwanese bl novels turned into series!
this isn’t that relevant to this series or important, but I just realised that Off Jumpol is only 2 years younger than Nike and Off played a university student this year whereas Nike played a 40yr old - I guess it shows having a younger and older face has different upsides in the acting industry!
I know it doesn’t really matter because it’s so early, but having Boom as a supporting character is really…
my mistake - looking at the actual series promotions rather than just MDL has Boom with the other 2 leads all the time - why do I always overthink MDL cast lists! haha! I’m happy!
I know it doesn’t really matter because it’s so early, but having Boom as a supporting character is really confusing me - because surely if Din (Kut) becomes Cheng (Boom) in someway then surely the majority of the series would be spent with Haii and Boom in the lead roles or it would be split evenly between Kut and Boom - my brain is already creating so many theories around this series - it should be an interesting watch! also this may just be hopeful thinking because I’ve wanted to see Boom in bigger roles since he was in my first ever Thai series Bad Romance - I have a bias for him!
