First 6 episodes were so darn extra I had to keep pausing and reversing cause I'm laughing to hard to read the subs. Sheer perfection so far!
And Riley with the 3 brothers of the Waning River Crescent gang are just hilarious additions to the story. I love all 3 brothers! More chaos ensues!

I've only finished Episode 1 now cause I had to pause constantly to laugh! The songs are so damn perfect too. It's been a long time since I laughed so hard I have tears! 😂

'Where's my manicure?' OMG, it's the little things that are making this drama so incredibly fun and brilliant! 😂

In the novel, the body double is (supposedly) sterile (because of his cultivating) and just in case everyone is fed birth control.
Of course they've changed a bunch of things already so who knows if they are going to use this part of the story or not! 😉

I can only say that the novel had a happy ending, eventually. However, I've been bitten too many times these past 2 years to be confident the drama will be the same! I keep watching a drama knowing that there is a happy ending only to find that for some unholy reason the scriptwriters have decided fuck it all no happy ending for you lets kill him/her/them all!
So zero percent confidence i happy/unhappy/bad/open ending!

I enjoyed the novel immensely. The ML is an extreme red flag and very toxic. The FL is sly and conniving. Both of them are meticulous in their planning and schemes and end up just being the most perfect couple. But it's an extremely rocky start....

If you want more details, the guy who does all the hard work is his chief spy and assassin. His method of cultivation requires him to use sex so he gets what he wants and the ML is free too continue his spying and behind the scenes manipulations.
Yeah, I guess not so much a good deal for the women. It's not like they have a choice in the matter. But...that's life in ancient times!?

If the drama follows along with the novel, he's never consummated with any of the women. They were sent to be his wife/concubines simply to spy on him and he is using them as the same. He has nothing to do with them physically or emotionally. He has a body double who does all the 'hard work' for him so he doesn't have to touch anyone. He has never touched any of them. He's picky that way. Except for the FL. She is the exception. She is the only woman's he's touched or will touch.

🤣Yep, they are having issues with 1 wife and 2 concubines already. If they added all the other concubines and bed warmers too I'm afraid no one would watch this! Well, I would. And maybe you too! 🤣

He's her Master from her home kingdom who taught her the art of seduction. Amongst other things. A beautiful interesting man! I hope we see some version of him in the drama!

Well yeah, the whole brothel scene with the aphrodisiac and how it was all set up by the ML to get her as his concubine cause devious planning and all...so many changes! And we're missing a good half a dozen or so concubines! 🤣
And don't forget she was trained since a young child to be a master of seduction and how to manipulate a man. They seem to have forgotten that story line. Oh no, does that mean Qianbai Mei won't be in the drama? Darn, he's one of my favorite characters! 😢
I'll admit that the opening 2 chapters of the novel got my attention really quickly! 🤣

Episode 3 done and I think I've found my new favorite onscreen couple! The dinner scene between ML and FL was just so....😘
I was afraid that along with all the changes made from the novel that the spark would be washed away too, but happy to say nope, these 2 are 🔥

Yes! I love this sort of gray character the best!🥰

Fingers crossed he stays the same throughout the entire drama and they don't pull a complete character switch on him like they did for Kill Me Love Me! 🤞

😉It's funny what is bearable and isn't for different people! I need to drop My Lethal Man because of the FL in that one. Her character is just the worst! The only expressions on her face are confusion and fear. And tears, lots of tears. That along with the darth vader breathing, mewling and whimpering are just god awful.

Episode 1. First impressions. As someone who has read and loved the novel, WTF does episode 1 have to do with the novel? umm, nothing? So I guess this is another drama that I need to try and pretend I never read the novel and try to forget everything! Damn. the novel was so good. Especially the very beginning!
It's a shame, they turned the novel's strong, sly, conniving, planning, thinking, intelligent FL into a victim in the drama once again. 😢How very disappointing. I guess that means she also hasn't been trained since birth in the art of seduction either. Which means all of the wonderful push/pull between FL and ML is gone from the story. Damn
The ML seems to be ratcheted up a notch from his novel counterpart to be even more 🤬ruthless.
Oh ok. 20 minutes into the episode and we are finally getting to something that was in the novel. Let's see how far they take it! 😉

Seriously, why bother saying you are adapting a novel and then completely change the story. Just call it an original story that coincidently has some characters with the same name.
Trying to purge my brain of the novel so I can enjoy this cause damn, the ML and FL are fire together!
