Yeah - highly recommend keeping the two separate at this stage. Neo and Ye are doing great with the material that they've been given, but oh my....if only the scriptwriters had let them be the novelised versions....

it's not that there isn't anything to enjoy in BftB, there is.....but Hu Xin is internally consistent, doesn't demolish YH's character (she retains complete agency in the novel), and doesn't have TY suddenly becoming a different character as a plot device. Hu Xin simply didn't need that.

Sigh. But....the visuals ;)

it's fun...it's just....nostalgia for what's missing ;)

yep...they have shoehorned in another (different - to replace?) bad character and set up the entire plot since the beginning to accommodate that which has messed up with the very neat, tight motivation and internal consistency of the novel.

in novel she fought off the bad dudes while he went and retrieved his dragon horns.

in the novel he knows....the scriptwriters have changed the dynamic (not necessarily in a great way, because before YH had power on her own and was stronger than TY, now it's because TY is unlocking her power etc)....in the arena you mean when she blew it up? this is a drama aspect not a novel aspect so not sure where the scriptwriters are going with it.

they are separated by circumstances not their own choices and they are reunited by their own actions in the novel

yes....it is 2-4-1 with the scale/neidan....not sure how much they will use the neidan aspect.

main issue with this is that it removes novel YH's agency for drama YH - drama YH is dependent on TY. In novel it's very much other way round....

the scale is for her heart...the neidan is the source of her powers...it's the loss of the neidan that will mean she dies

Youku seem to be pushing the whole compare thing (trailers with cuts from both dramas and a headline linking elements in both)...obviously keeps the heat on both dramas....just marketing.

As to preference, funny that.....why choose when you can have both!!!!

1. not in novel. we are speculating but....maybe a "if a taoist/spirit couple don't have true love, Riley loses something/dies/world ends?
2. nine tail fox demon princess in novel (sister of the one SY has chained up being drained)

it's more context and background.....she and war general were desperately in love....and her shifu (ultimate bad dude) is manipulating her (actually manipulating most of xian sects because he has broken through 9th cultivation level and is absorbing demon neidan to continue breaking levels)...so she is really quite a tragic (if deluded and obsessed) character....at the end, the scholar suicides (is murdered with TY's help - he asks TY to release him) and he has remembered EVERYTHING ie war general past life, his life iwth 9 tail fox princess etc, and is still willing to die to not be with her because of what she has become in trying to make him impervious to harm....
but that's a lot of spoiler for you....

not in novel because of that...yes she dies but different motivation...but HE because reincarnates with memories intact.
