such a long time to wait and now it's all over.....anyone remember how much we were in the doldrums every time we thought a release date was real....and youku canned it again and again....and the TtEotM saga with it being switched in at the last minute....and then finally BftB was released! And as much as the delay was awful.....BftB was really well placed after TtEofM, despite the comments about quality differences (and really....it was all in keeping with the story!) and the comparisons and the worry about HEAs.....YZ and HMH were beautifully cast, and the supporting characters well played....

Neidan is actually what's keeping her alive. TY needs neidan to be strong enough to have a chance of winning the grand battle. It's never really resolved in the novel whether Hu Xinlu ceases to work on the death of TY. TY decides to off himself when he sees YH going under, but Huan Xiao tells him to hang on....so .... not resolved...

for novel readers...it's a different object. Drama has borrowed elements....about all that can be said. Best thing to do (I found) is just treat as two separate things....
ok - if the translation throws you off....the writing (if that's how JLFX writes in the original) is pretty simple. Normally, writing with messed up POVs, author insertions, telling not showing, repetitive language, clumsy transitions, etc drives me up the wall. In this case, despite ALL THAT, I still wanted to read to the end. I hope that it doesn't disappoint. I read Cang Lan Jue (translation - that made me want to poke out my eyeballs with hot skewers) and Accompanying the Phoenix (marginally better) as well as The Prince is Here. If you asked me about any of those, I can't remember a thing (not quite true but you gather my drift). Hu Xin just had me by the short and curlies.
novel - I've written a short review about what I think works for the drama and why I think it's a good watch. Underneath that I've added in what I think about the changes made. My opinion about the drama won't alter (because of those changes they've made) - so as a standalone drama, it works (for a variety of reasons), and is likely to keeping working unless they do something totally idiotic.
Now if you ask me about the novel compared to the drama . . . it's just better plotted, more consistent, less suspension of disbelief, more coherent characterisation, less coming-in-from-left-field-what-is-going-on-!?!?!?! and much more about telling a story (less about monetisation). Despite it being translated (and the translators make a big effort, however it's not the same as being able to read in mother tongue) I still wanted to read it to the very last word! That's the biggest compliment I can give.

Drama and novel....there are significant differences. The way tension is resolved is different. The characters are scripted differently. So trailers of the drama might be trailers of scenes specific to the drama....sentences from the novel can be adapted to the line the drama is taking....different medium, different focus.
LbFaD did the same....the drama was its own object, different from the novel. Still used stuff from novel, trailers were about the drama.
