I'm on episode nine and have completely lost interest. I have a feeling that the creators want too much to surprise, confuse, interest, but by doing so they will lose any realism, and this is supposedly not a fantasy drama. I don't know what style or what this drama is about anymore. They made too much mish-mash, and I don't like chaos. My rating dropped from 10 to 7.5

Only if Hunan lets them.
And this is an interesting issue. For how long did Hunan acquire the broadcast rights to this drama?
Although looking at the current situation, Hunan might want to air TOOL. Yang Zi was at their New Year's Eve concert and the main factor forcing Hunan to block XZ has clearly weakened. Hunan needs something to rebuild its reputation and standing, and the example of Ace Troops shows that you can make a drama successful without playing CP.
While I was not positive about TOOL's premiere in the fall and was sure they would cancel it, I have a good feeling now. The premiere will be in May at the latest, that's my feeling. Although it could be right after the Olympics.
But a hunch is not a fact, so I am not a reliable source of information.

Perverted anime? Lost ur mind? Arrogant? LoL u clearly didn't watch anime or read novel. Most Main Characters…
If it weren't for your last sentence accusing XZ fans of lying, I would have ignored your comment. Please don't accuse someone of lying just because they have a different opinion than you, okay? Let's respect each other. Let's also learn to read other's statements with understanding. Okay? Because from what I can see, you are incredibly biased against this drama. But just because you hate this drama because it didn't live up to your expectations doesn't mean everyone has to hate it. And not all people in the world have to read a book first to watch a drama. People who haven't read it have no right to their own opinion? Or don't they have the right to watch the drama until they read the book and watch the anime? And who is biased here?
Forgive me, but I can't understand this mentality. I don't have a PhD in psychology.

Can you elaborate on that?
Oh yes, XZ has shown more than once that he is aware of his shortcomings and you can see from him that uncritical fan adoration is a burden to him. He's constantly trying to grow into the role that the fans have given him, and that takes hard work and sometimes he can just be tired.
I remember watching The Untamed thinking that WWX was more feminine than me and I was full of admiration for the actor. WWX was not effeminate, he was seductive, flirty, subtle. WOW! He cried very little, he usually laughed and that smile was like sunshine.
GYY cries a lot, but they are the tears of a "real man". This is the typical picture of a soldier with soft PTSD. You can see that production and XZ did a good reserch when it comes to this topic.
As for Tang San, I don't like that scene either, but I think the problem was that XZ recorded the audio in the studio, after a long time after filming, of the drama and couldn't quite recall the emotion of that moment. He had to re-create them, but they weren't exactly the same. Anyway, his dubbing was recorded a tad too loud compared to the rest, which made it artificially intensified.
Watching AT, I came to the conclusion that the XZ is brilliant in dramatic scenes, but has some shortcomings in regular scenes. That's why I would have loved to see him in a drama that doesn't rely on strong emotions but on ordinary life. If the rumors of this 70's drama come true, it could be a learning opportunity for him.
On The Oath of Love Jan 13, 2022
I don't care about rumors on TW, Weibo or such. My gut tells me that we will see this drama in spring 2022. Tencent won't miss the opportunity to make money from XZ fans, and they said that if Tencent wants their money, they have to give them a drama with XZ. Tencent needs the money and YGY isn't ready yet, so it has to be TOOL, especially since IQiyi made money from XZ and he's not even their spokesperson.

What us the relation between this and Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities ?
It's two parts of a trilogy that takes place in the same fantasy world, so the same countries are involved, but from what I can tell, the characters have no connection to each other and I think there's even a time difference. I don't know for sure, sorry. I'm only writing back because no one else has written back yet :(
I just remember that when YGY was mentioned, no one gave any importance to Mirror and didn't say that the plot was connected in any way, just that they were separate parts of a trilogy from the same universe.

Hey, they started in the 1980s! That's probably your parents' generation or even your grandparents' generation. Of course his approach is old school :)

Can you elaborate on that?
I think for the same reason that others think the ABC actor is the best actor in the world and you think he's hopeless.
I love XZ, I've been addicted to him since July 2019, but I don't think he's the best actor in the world. He plays very naturally, he actually becomes the character he plays and steals the hearts of the audience, but he has some technical shortcomings. It doesn't bother me too much because I perceive him as a beautiful whole, I just look through my fingers at some failed scenes. But people have different personalities and a perfectionist will not be able to accept imperfections. There are also people who value technique in an actor, not emotions. There are also people for whom emotions are a burden which they don't want to carry, so his emotionality is unpleasant for them.
The accusation against XZ that I remember the most is that his characters are such cry-babies. And the roles project the perception of the actor. WWX, which brought him such fame, also brought him disgust. No need to lie to yourself, WWX was too much of a female character and some carried that over to XZ. They pigeonholed him and he is now fighting against that image. Gu Yuye is a good way, but it's not enough.
I'm sure XZ will have plenty of new beautiful roles that will gradually win more people over to him. I don't think any actor has broken away from the label of little fresh meat as quickly as he has,

But GYY's storyline after his friend's death was also drawn out, as was his engagement to A-Xiu. I think those…
This is about male pride. She is an intelligent successful woman so he feels slightly inferior to her. He wants to be worthy of such a good woman. He believes it will happen one day, so he doesn't let her go. She is impressed by his persistence in adoring her. They are both focused on their careers, so they are in no hurry to get married. They both want to be worthy partners for each other. He cannot feel inferior towards her because it will haunt him for the rest of his life. She is the goal for which he becomes a better and better soldier. If they had married in the beginning, he would not have had this ambition and rather they would have been threatened with divorce after a failed exercise.
But there are different kinds of love and in their case, friendship, knowing that you can rely on someone, that you are adored, gave her a sense of security. Her love came from attachment to him, not from romantic overtures, just like the love between GY and Xiu.

I thought she would really marry him and repeated in my mind: "It's not fair, he can't say no!" :)
A specialist will appear. I suspect a former girlfriend of GYY, who became a doctor in the States, will appear. I saw a short trailer without subtitles. GYY asked her something, and then I saw her as a doctor at the operating table. These are my guesses, but I bet $1 that they are accurate. The drama's main trailer had scenes with GL that weren't in AT yet. He and GYY still have 20 years ahead of them as soldiers, so GL must be fit enough to return to special forces.

No, it was after 1994, as Gu Yiye recalled a terrorist attack from that time. As for the hair, I saw my cousin's wedding photo today. She got married just in the 90s and had an equally nightmarish hairstyle :) Although her dress looked more like Sgt. Han's dress.

But GYY's storyline after his friend's death was also drawn out, as was his engagement to A-Xiu. I think those are the moments where the viewer is supposed to stop and slowly, quietly, observe the changes taking place in the characters. These are key moments of transformation, of victory over one's own weakness, so they need to be shown properly. The viewer must have time to go through this transformation together with the characters. After all, all three of them undergo certain transformations in every serious situation.
It's just a thought.

let me know if my comment is too political i will delete it
As far as I'm concerned, the comment is not overly political, but it is historically incorrect. Sorry, but I'm a historian so I have to correct you that the Cultural Revolution, which is a disgrace even in the eyes of the Chinese themselves, took place in 1966. It was a bloody, cruel event, the replay of which people feared in early March 2020 because again someone started manipulating children and persuading them to violence. If not for the pandemic and the fear of it, there probably would have been riots in several cities in China.
The 1980s were a slightly different transition, including culturally, but it involved more of a move away from hardline communism. Rather, they involved rapid technological advances around the world, including in China. The Gu Yiye generation was born after the Cultural Revolution.
Gu Yiye was treated well. I didn't see a single sign that anyone mistreated or discriminated against him. At most, he was teased for being a rich boy, but he was respected, especially because his father was a teacher in the army and an officer.
Sorry, I had to correct that.

You're welcome. I just happened to be lucky enough to watch this show almost live. Almost, because it wasn't until around December that the show went live on YT. Before that I could only watch pirated versions and the original episodes weren't until Thursday, so I had two days of fun. To this day I remember how much I was looking forward to those episodes. I think Faded was the first official clip on YT posted right after the show ended, and then the full episode appeared as early as Sunday and the live episodes were only available towards the end of the show.
Forgive me for writing so much. I've been immersed in beautiful memories :)
Xiao Zhan wasn't that popular back then, so there wasn't that much of it on YT. Shanghai TV was also just starting with entertainment programs (if I remember correctly Our Song was the first one) so the beginnings were difficult, but it only took a few episodes for everyone to fall in love with XZ and the show, so after that it went off without a hitch.
Oh, I'll also add that the music channel was already created after the 227 incident broke out, so the fact that the new official channel has XZ on the banner (it had it until the fall) and creates compilations of clips with songs sung by XZ was something wonderful for Xfx Heiy said everyone was boycotting XZ, and Shanghai TV never disavowed XZ.

If you are considering whether to watch this drama and reading the comments to get the opinions of those who have seen it, you may come across extreme opinions. Fans of anime usually dislike this drama very much. Xiao Zhan fans tend to enjoy it.
My opinion - I could not watch the anime, I could not accept its aesthetics. Twelve-year-old girls who look like the protagonists of perverted anime are not my cup of tea. I've never in my life seen a twelve-year-old girl have breasts bigger than her head, and I have sizable breasts myself, but not at twelve. Sorry. Plus, the kids in the anime are so arrogant and smug that if I were their mother, I'd beat their asses. That's why I found the drama very enjoyable, realistic, funny, and warm. Yes, it's a bit infantile, but it's a drama for young viewers about loyalty, friendship, and getting better. Naturally Tang San is adorable, but every character here has their own charm and I really like probably all of them. The music and shooting style are novel, so that may not appeal to a certain group of viewers either. However, for me it was an escape from boring dramas that repeat the same patterns. Douluo Dalu is different, unique, and what is unique has many supporters but also many opponents. It's best to watch the first two episodes and decide for yourself if you want to continue watching.

can someone please tell me why it says xiao zhan appeared on it in 2019 but all clips on youtube are of last year…
Additionally, Shanghai TV Official Channel in 2020 opened a special music themed channel and they put all the clips from Our Song with them. These are sister channels with very similar logos. There was also a replacement of the originally placed clips because tv removed the logos and some news subtitles. You may see a blurry bar on some of the clips - these are ads and commercials that have already expired but were in the program. And besides, tv didn't immediately post clips from Our Song. It wasn't until after a few episodes that they realized people on YT really needed it (there were plenty of pirated clips) so they gave the official ones. It was just the beginning, so it wasn't all ripped together yet. But surely Shanghai TV didn't expect the show to be so successful.

This is one of the few dramas I look forward to and I really hope it will be done well. Li Yifeng is my first Chinese love. Although I'm not a fan of his per se, but his acting has always given me a lot of pleasure. I'm afraid this drama will disappoint my expectations so I try not to have any and not expecting anything good to enjoy every well done scene.

Seriously, in my opinion, Hunan is to blame for everything :( Hunan belongs to a different corporate group than Tencent. They merged for an experiment, but it was a misguided marriage and divorce quickly followed. And as always, in a divorce, it is the children who suffer the most. Poor TOOL :( But it looks like the family court is about to terminate Hunan's parental rights and TOOL will come to play with us :) I sincerely hope it will be in the spring of 2022.
