the only reason i'll watch this is bc of xiao zhan, lets be honest.. his nvr been in much romance dramas. but…
I completely understand your concerns. When I saw the trailer I found that this drama was simply impossible to watch. When I expressed my disappointment, I was attacked on MDL as if I had killed someone's mother. Hm. I alienated myself from this drama for a long time, especially since S+ Tencent productions are really nightmarishly weak when it comes to CGI. BUT, I saw the official BTS clip from YGY and I have to say that while I don't expect a good script, I don't expect a good production, I certainly expect Xiao Zhan to make an electrifying impression on me. He's acting so emotionally that I'll put up with cheesy CGI for him. Only if the production doesn't give the voices of the original actors, I won't forgive them. Fans love Xiao Zhan's voice and no one can convey emotion with their voice like he does.
If you want to watch him playing other characters, i suggest you watch Fearless Whispers and the animal world.…
To tell you the truth, I'll be hesitant but I don't think I'll decide to watch it without subtitles. For me, in dramas with comedic elements, dialogues are important. I remember watching the live music show Our Song and only after a few months with subtitles. I laughed without subtitles, I understood more or less what was going on, but it was only with subtitles that I really understood the subtlety of the interactions between the show's participants. I remember I even had some wrong and wrong-headed assumptions. I'm hoping for subtitles to appear. I may wait a few more months, but I don't want to misunderstand the interactions between the characters. In any case, thanks for the link. Maybe I'll change my mind and try it without subtitles. :)
新年快乐 !Happy New Year everyone! So excited to see Xiao Zhan on stage for CNY
I don't. I have a tough exam in a tough subject the day after and I have to study :( The only exam in my session and on that very day! Out of politeness I don't use words that come to my tongue.
If Xiao Zhan stars here, I'll definitely watch, even though it's not my pair of shoes. But actually XZ doesn't act in dramas at all that interest me and by some magical coincidence I watch all of them (almost). And I thought I was too old to watch anything for an actor. But it's not just about the actor, because so far he's managed to pick scripts that aren't quite so banal.
If you want to watch him playing other characters, i suggest you watch Fearless Whispers and the animal world.…
The Animal World I've seen. I don't remember that movie, so I guess it didn't impress me. I've been hunting for Fearless Whispers, but it was nowhere to be found with subtitles :( I tried watching without subtitles and the first episode interested me (Li YiFeng is uniquely suited to republican dramas) but with my poor knowledge of Chinese I only got frustrated. I'll look for it, maybe I can find it with subtitles already. Thanks for the reminder.
Good drama, but too depressing for me. Or maybe it's just me having a phase where I need laughter and something more upbeat? Or maybe I'm just not into the S&M rhythm of love (at least not at this point in my life)? In any case, too heavy for me. That's why despite Ji Sung's phenomenal performance only 7.
I like Li Yifeng, but I wonder if he can even act? Don't get me wrong, I really like Sparrow, I've watched all his old dramas and had a great time, but I can't shake the feeling that all his characters are identical. He's cool in a certain set of characterizations, but he can't go beyond that. Sparrow was probably the exception. The acting in this drama really disappointed me. But should I blame it on the actors or the directors who said it was ok instead of demanding more? I was really hoping to see Li YiFeng in a cool new role, but I guess I have to wait until the next one (sigh).
Listen, I have a huge request. Do you remember The Wolf? There was a book based on the series and I think someone translated it into English. Do you have a link to that book somewhere? Maybe you know someone who has read it? My little heart really needs to read this story.
I just watched it again and again I feel like this drama had the potential to be a masterpiece if it wasn't ruined by censorship. I just saw in my imagination all those scenes where Bo Wang's eyes change and he really turns into a beast. This drama would have had a stronger, more tragic expression then. And I really miss all those scenes that were cut out. No less I can't blame the drama for the fact that the rules changed during its production and poor The Wolf had to change almost the whole concept. Hm, I wonder if anyone has translated the book into English?
He brought people to their knees in Our Song in a disco style Abba song. Some girls fainted and had to be carried…
I just pictured his character going to a disco in this new series.... But I think they were playing slightly different music in Beijing at the time, something like the one from Gu Yiye's wedding in Ace Troops. It's a shame, because such a scene would go down in cinema history more than John Travolta and Saturday Night Fever.
I was just thinking about this, they may want to change up the King and Queen now just to set the precedent that…
Right, this award from Weibo has no value but after last year's scandal it's rather quiet. I haven't heard anyone urging people not to vote this year, anyway the voting is already closed and now there are more stages without fans. But there's no fooling yourself. With such an advantage XZ not only in the voting but in general in popularity no one will dare not give him the title of Weibo King. If XZ did not get this title, Weibo would be compromised.
I'm curious about who are the other two from Japan and China.
Thank you for asking :) Kaneshiro Takeshi from Japan was my first love. He delighted me in Red Cliff and then in Japanese dramas. He can really stir my emotions. Xiao Zhan from China - I was surprised that every character he plays is different and absolutely real. His eyes have an amazing ability to express emotions and I always believe them. I see a completely different character in every new drama. He is perfect as an idiot, as a wounded youth, a gentleman, a rascal, and most recently as a tough soldier. Ji Sung is my latest discovery and he has the best kissing scenes :) Aha, Ji Sung and Xiao Zhan are also extremely warm people in private and very enduring. They are also brave and not afraid of challenges. They have my full respect. An actor who can be both comedic and tragic and plays trauma scenes in such a way that the viewer's heart is torn to shreds is a treasure for me :) These three can do it like nobody else.
I mean, K-Dramas are generally unrealistic. You'd enjoy it more if you'd just take it for what it is - fiction.…
Because it's not like I like everything in a certain genre or everything with a certain trope. I love legal dramas, but the main character has to be the type of guy I like, otherwise I'll hate the drama even though it's legal. Oh, it also has to be realistic legally, otherwise I'll consider it trash. "Flower of Evil" I heartily loathe because the psychopath is incapable of feeling as shown in the series. The romanticization of the psychopath is a media absurdity that makes people fascinated with serial killers giving courage to these killers to act, because after all the media makes them so cool. And besides, the screenwriter didn't read any study on psychopaths or the psychology of crime, he just made a romantic fairy tale. I generally don't despise stupid dramas. What I can't stand are dramas that pretend to be clever and, for example, use pseudo-specialized vocabulary but actually talk nonsense. I also can't stand dramas where the characters are made to fit a certain template without caring about their individuality or making them realistic and real. The trauma of the protagonist is great, I like it too, but for me the consequences of the trauma have to be within reason. I really like Yan BingYun's character from the c-drama Joy of Life. People accuse the actor of looking ugly, of being stiff and artificial, but everyone seems to forget that Yan BingYun was physically and psychologically tortured for weeks, so at this point in the story he is an emotional wreck who is somehow trying to hold on. For me, the actor played super. The craziness of the protagonist Bad & Crazy is also ok and I liked this drama, but its intensity crossed the line and there should have been a breakdown (of course split personality is a breakdown, so is the manifestation of a derivative personality) but for me there should have been a moment of tranquility and not a growing escalation of craziness. This escalation took away my interest because I felt like I was being beaten over the head with clichés instead of being given subtlety to contemplate for at least a minute. I would love to discuss dramas with you, but maybe on Privet messege if you want :)
Can we agree that each of us has different experiences and different tastes? I think it's normal that not everyone likes the same things. It's great that people like this drama all the time, but I stopped liking it. I'm changing its status to dropped.

Realism in film is not about accurately reflecting reality, and that's not what I meant. Rather, I meant that the screenwriter intentionally loads too much tension into the character. He gives him too many traumatic experiences or throws him into too many traumatic situations. THAT is unrealistic. The cop with DID inspired by the movie "Fight Club" is still interesting, although the vast majority of cases of DID have completely different symptoms. The primary personality is out of touch with the secondary personality. I'll still put up with it since it's just a drama. Yes, I guess DID always arises from childhood trauma, but the scriptwriters gave a hook that maybe 90% of viewers will like, for me though, it was "well, no, again?" I don't put every drama I watch on my list. There are so many that I don't remember them, I abandoned "Move to Heaven" somewhere before the end. Here, the hook was too weak and I wasn't interested in what would happen to the characters next. And cleaning up after the dead isn't something I'm particularly interested in. I like k-dramas because they have something original and unique in them, or at least they did, because lately they've been following global trends and losing their uniqueness. I'm one of those people who have moved away from western dramas because they've started to focus too much on the surprise effect, the shock effect, and they've really forgotten about the neat plot development. My favorite k-drama is "Secret Forest", but only the first season, because the second season - I just gnash my teeth. Oh yeah, and "Kill Me, Heal Me." I was amazed at how well they DID show. Despite the many unrealistic elements, it is wonderfully realistic. I can't describe it in a few words. Sorry. In both dramas I was invested in the plot and characters 100% I watched the ninth episode to the end feeling bored all the time and not at all interested in what was in the past or what will happen in the future. Really this childhood friend repeating a pattern to remind ML of the past is so cliché!
I have watched 39 episodes and I am really satisfied. That surprises me to no end. Their maneuvers excite me, the old staff's behavior makes me laugh, and overall this drama gives me a lot of positive emotions. I don't remember crying as much as I did in this c-drama, but I'm crying not because I'm sad, but because the creators are playing on my emotions and I like that.
I mean, K-Dramas are generally unrealistic. You'd enjoy it more if you'd just take it for what it is - fiction.…
My experience watching K-drama is over seven years old. I don't think I have to be thrilled with every single K-drama. For the past three years, the level of K-dramas has been declining - this is not solely my opinion. This drama was promising to be a great one, but I'm becoming more and more disappointed. I really don't feel like continuing with the ninth episode and I guess I have the right to express my disappointment, especially because I had high hopes for something good from the first episode and for a while I got it. Now I'm getting chaos that I don't like. not a mystery I want to solve, but chaos that doesn't interest me. This drama just stopped being entertaining for me.
In any case, thanks for the link. Maybe I'll change my mind and try it without subtitles. :)
