I made a discussions post about Padbok and his actor, Junior. Some of us in the comments have noticed a big lack of Junior in the promos and especially in the first 7 episodes of S2. After some digging around, it might be safe to say that yes, he left the company. Which, of course, would heavily impact Padbok's role in the show. Potentially no PadbokSab, for example.
Thoughts or comments can be made in the discussion post above!
I'm not too familiar with this, but I have come across shows that are aired on TV but also available online. Typically,…
No problem! IDK how much they censor, but I do know that some times, maybe all of the time, they'll censor sex scenes. I've even come across a petition to have this one channel not censor kissing between men.
Can someone please tell me what happened to the Padbok storyline?? Did I miss a few episodes?? He just completely…
They stated in one of the earlier episodes that he's basicallu catching up with school work.
Though I believe something may have happened between his actor and his company? That made it so that he ended up appearing in fewer episodes. Before show aired, he removed the company's name from his social media, for example.
I am just curious though if this and all BL series are being aired on national TV in Thailand.
I'm not too familiar with this, but I have come across shows that are aired on TV but also available online. Typically, the TV version is cut and in some ways censored, so they'll put the uncut version online. An example of this is Gen Y The Series.
I do agree the screen time distribution could be done better. This episode is a pretty good example of that. I…
I agree! Despite the distribution, I'm still having a great time. The cast is large, but I wouldn't wish them to remove any of them. They could use an extra episode or two, but that's not something the production team can control, so they're working with what they've got.
I don't mind that their plot went that direction because, like you said, it's one of those subplots where something big has to happen- and I feel like something big will happen very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the bullies came back and ganged up on Tong. Unfortunately, it seems like something to that extent has to happen to snap Pok out of it.
This show feels like it's definitely going to be hit or miss for a lot of people. Those who enjoy these types of stories where the main character is some level of a stalker will enjoy this show a lot. I personally don't care for stories like that because I don't find stalking and collecting used items from people to be cute at all no matter how cute and fluffy the writer tries to make the story seem. But I'm not going to know it down a few pegs just because it isn't my cup of tea. Instead, I'll judge it based off of how they handle his character from now on. I've come across stories like this where the character somehow doesn't change in the end and it's supposed to be funny and cute and like...it's not.
99% of the reason why I'm going to continue with the show is because of the side couples. Jao is my favorite from their little group so far and it seems like he may end up with Sky. Kongkwan and Fon are cute, too!
About the acting: the acting for the main 4 was annoying at times, but I'm pretty sure that's the point. It's meant to be exaggerated, almost a caricature. I've always like the trope where a small group of nerdy friends help each other/one person find love, so sometimes I do find them to be very cute. Would've liked their friendship a lot more if it weren't for the stalking plot, but I've already talked about that.
Regardless of how I feel about this trope, so far the show is executing it's concept very well! I'll definitely give it that. I'm honestly a little surprised the rating is as low as it is.
Dear Pok, the words are:Thank you.I am sorry. And if you are really brave:I love you. Please forgive me.
YES.
I really do want them to make it in the end; I can see them working things out. It would be great if not only he says that, but they show them talking things out.
I only watched episode 1 of this season I'm not sure if i should continue tho but anyways i just wanted to know…
Being super honest: if you're only in it for JackKoh, then I would probably say it's not worth continuing because JackKoh (or KohJack lol) is meant to only be a minor pair in the show and are treated as such. They've gotten one scene per episode so far, I wanna say. It may be more worth it looking up their scenes so far, instead.
If there are other things about the show that interests you, then give it a shot! You may grow to like it. There are people who clearly don't, but there are those of us who are still enjoying the ride.
(minor spoilers) In S1 there is that one scene where they met up at that one sushi restaurant and Koh says he thought it'd just be the two of them. In S2, there's a scene where we learn they are still secretly going out to eat together. Basically, at this point (E8 of S2) they both are still refusing to acknowledge they have a Thing going on, but it definitely seems like they're getting closer and closer to doing so. There's this very cute and funny scene between them in E7, haha.
There aren't Eng subs yet. I'm assuming they're letting the community translate for them with reactions videos. (edit: it's available now!) You can check out the BankBo reaction video (with Eng subs) from the list I have in Discussions.
While ThanuWayu is a big meh to me, let me give credit where it's due. I actually enjoyed this episode because…
I do agree the screen time distribution could be done better. This episode is a pretty good example of that. I noticed that tends to be a thing with some Thai BLs, so I'm assuming it may be more of a cultural thing, thus I'm not too mad about it. PokTong is also the ship I'm most invested in, but I felt the sliver of time they in this episode was fine. I feel like the pacing for them so far is good. Though I am expecting something big to happen with them either in the next episode or in ep10.
Ok, I have to admit I started skipping through the episode (loved M&K in S1, but S2 so far disappoints me to no…
LOL That's actually Kit's excuse for spending time apart. The both of them, but Kit *especially* are clutching at excuses to stay apart.
In reality, the both of them have poor communication skills, and have had them since S1. But it got worse and became more apparent in S2E2. So now they're having this moment where neither of them want to be honest with the other. There's more to it, but that's basically it.
It's a good concept. But poorly executed, I will agree to that. It feels random rather than necessary. And now it's gotten to a point where it feels kind of dragged out. If it was better put together, their scenes could've been golden, imo.
I totally agree. I'm out of patience with Kit. He's acting uncharacteristically immature and this whole trial/experiment…
BPG could better explain it since she was around when it all happened and saw it first hand, but from my understanding, they wanted to continue with 2 Moons but couldn't due to breaking away from their parent company (who wasn't really treating them well and owned 2 Moons) and issues with the fact that they couldn't own the original story that 2 Moons was based off of.
But since 2 Moons was so popular, they really wanted to give it another try. But the only way they could would be to basically make their own version of the original, unfinished story. On top of that, Bas (Wayu/Wayo's actor) and Dun (Thanu's actor) were a SUPER popular ship at this point. So much so that the Asian audience wanted Wayo, who's now named Wayu, to get with Dun's character instead of Pha. And since they had to do their own version anyway, they decided to go this route. But first, they held a vote. And around 80% of voters wanted ThanuWayu endgame; *that's* how popular DunBas was and still is.
It's all very interesting, in my opinion, the production of this show. I never watched 2 Moons, so I can't say too much. But I personally don't mind the idea of writers making their own rendition of an already created story. It's been done before.
My little weekly review is here! It probably won't be as long as usual, because this was very much a set up episode for the last 4 episodes. Ain't nothing wrong with that, this usually happens in shows.
Warning for those who dislike Wayu/ThanuWayu: this is very much a ThanuWayu episode. It focuses more on Wayu finally pushing pass his barrier and allowing Thanu in.
Character of the week: Thanu!! He's putting his foot down! He ain't quittin' now, no sir! And also the coach?? Apologizing and doing his job?? Woah. Not Character of the week: hmmm....I would say no one. Maaaaybe Kit again? IDK.
As I stated above, this is a set up episode. There's quite a bit of things this episode has set in stone for us: Thanu is very much not budging from his spot as Wayu's love interest. In the same breath, Wayu is now starting to accept Thanu back. Tong reporting the bullying incident was not in vain. Pha appears to be getting worse or is the same; the treatment doesn't appear to be working. This wall that MarkKit erected is starting to crumble down.
As usual, this will be broken up into sections focusing on pairings/characters. Lets start with:
❤MarkKit Lets get them out of the way. I will say right off the bat that I feel like their scenes in this episode were the weakest. The acting was great and all, but it felt like we lingered too much on them.
I was hoping for some additional scenes after Ep7 aired. For example, a scene where Sab and Klui try to convince Tong to join the production. Tong refuses because Pok's there, but after some poking, Tong finally gives in. Maybe it's Phai who finally convinces him, just ike how it was Phai who convinced him to tutor Pok. It could've been a cute scene with the juniors. Just cut off some of the screentime with MarkKit and give it to them- or any one else, really.
All their scenes did was show us that after some time, they've both (but Kit *especially*) started losing a bit of their grip on this weird set up they have going on. Like, we all know Kit wouldn't've opened the door to Mark before; they showed us this in the last episode.
I do have two good things to say about their scenes: the first being that I thought it was very cute that someone like Kit believed in stuff like not saying out loud what you've wished for. He doesn't seem to the type that would, but it does show that he has this softer, almost naïve side to him outside of his usual strict and logical ways. I also LOVED that they made it seem like Mark was actually there. After being surprised that Kit actually opened the door to Mark, I actually believed for a sec that he did go out with him to watch the meteor shower. I also love this scene because back in S1, they did that thing where the characters looked like they were talking to each other in person, but they were just texting in the same chat room. I thought that was a super fun scene and wished they brought that back. And they did!
Also, this scene confirms they both have a scent kink. Lets be real with ourselves and move on. NEXT!
❤PokTong Once again, not too much has happened in this episode with them- which I'm fine with. They're both, understandable and realistically keep away from each other. So no communication makes sense.
Come to find out, the investigation bared some fruit: the bullies were found and promptly kicked out of the team! And Pok still has a chance to race. Nice! I will say, it did feel a little anticlimactic. I was, once again, hoping for a scene with the bullies or even that the investigation would drag out a bit longer into ep 9 or 10. However, after thinking about it I realized that just because the boys have been kicked out, doesn't mean their done. Right? Scary thought...
Pok, realizing that hey getting help isn't a bad thing actually, tries to contact Tong, but can't being himself to do it. He sees Tong the day of the play, but Tong runs off before he can say anything.
Oh, Pok. It ain't gonna come that easy. I don't think either of you are safe just yet, unfortunately... NEXT!
❤ ThanuWayu Ahhh, the center of this episode.
We start off with what I assumed to be a flashback of Jill talking some sense to Thanu. I've always loved that, despite the conflict between Padbok and Thanu, Jack and Jill are still willing to treat Thanu like a friend. Jill, who's the only with with brain cells in the engineering group LOL, suggests to Thanu that he basically follow his heart. And follow his heart he did, alright!
We've seen Thanu up until recently be fairly passive and allow others' feelings to take priority over his own. But now, he's firmly approaching Wayu and reminding him that A) he's not backing down anymore and B) how he shouldn't either. Remember all the times we had? Remember the promises we made? As Sab told Wayu, it's time for him to stop worrying so much about others and lead his own life.
And we see this transition in Wayu this episode. He very nearly allows Thanu to kiss him that one time (I'll get back to this in a bit) and just overall, not only is he finally allowing Thanu to be closer physically, but emotionally as well.
I do like that there's been this theme of the universe (or perhaps....destiny 👀?) seemingly not wanting Thanu and Wayu to either not be together, or not be together just yet. Like Sab showing up at the right fucking moment, right when Thanu and Wayu were about to kiss. I love you, Sab, but c'mon! LMAO
Or Pha potentially about to throw yet another wrench in everything. Speaking of...NEXT!
❤Pha Pha......OH, PHA. I held out hope that Pha wouldn't die, but uh. It ain't lookin' too good. BPG has been saying she thinks he will, and I've been like n'aw....no way. But. Uh. Yikes.
The scene where he has this painful episode...Not looking good, my guy. And it JUST so happens right when things are looking up for Wayu and Thanu. Right when Wayu decides to lead his own life.
Whatever may be going on with Pha could maybe prompt Kit to officially stay. Even though he wants to stay- listen, we're not getting into the whole Kit thing right now. NEXT!
❤Extras/JackKoh/JillYuki/Theatre Group I mentioned last week how extremely excited I am for the play. I still think it's a super cute idea, and seeing the production so far has been great.
The costumes and wigs are so amateur, I LOVE it. It reminds me so much of volunteering for college film projects and how cheap those can be. Good times. Though the freckles on Wayu?? VERY CUTE touch on his costume. Great job, Taojiao, on his makeup.
I did not expect the elf ears, but I think they're cute. Wayu looked the best in the final scene with Thanu! So good that I had to take a could of screenshots. Thanu's pants were an abomination though LOL
JackKoh/KohJack had a small scene this episode. They did try to win over Wayu...again. At this point, it's so obvious they're using Wayu as a way to distract from the fact they like each other. Oh, these men..
Jill and Yuki looked SO GOOD this episode! That one scene when Jill was standing behind Yuki?? Power Couple stance. I loved it. Yuki was great in general in this episode. I've loved her ever since she spilled juice on Padbok *dreamy sigh*
Speaking of Padbok, he showed up! But very momentarily. I'm expecting he'll be back fully next episode. Borderline desperately hoping for a moment with him in Sab. PLEASE.
I'm SO excited to see the other costumes: Saendee as the evil spirit, for example. There was a very small glimpse of it in the preview. Did I see silver long hair?? Klui looked great in the makeup, too. Also excited for Kalae, Pok, and Phai. We didn't seem them in their costumes at all this episode.
All-in-all, a Calm Before The Storm type episode. Excited for next week!
I feel like with any of their shows, they could wait a week or so. Possibly do a press conference or something.…
It's quite unique with Bad Buddy because of how crazy popular it was. I began to notice that any other show that was airing around the time of BB was getting lower than expected ratings. Unfortunately what happens is that you'll get people comparing just about any BL drama to BB and expecting the same exact things out of these dramas as they did with BB. This won't last long, but it makes it unfair to these other shows.
Last I checked, Enchanté had a 8.3, which is right around what I expected for a show like this. And then it dropped all the way to a 7.6 and has been there since.
