I knew this debuting a week after Bad Buddy was a bad idea- and here we are with a 7.6 rating.

The story and concept are fine so far. The chemistry between Akk and Theo is quite cute; the actors don't seem awkward or stiff around each other.

As others have stated, it seems very obvious that Akk and Theo will end up together. The difference in class between the two is interesting so far; I'm sure it'll cause a rift between them at some point.

I'm EXTREMELY pleased to see Fluke (Saifah's actor) in this though. I thought he was so hot in Not Me haha
The pacing is fine so far too. Will keep on watching!

When it first started airing they had it available on IQIYI, and I could watch it with standard. But now it seems…
Yeah, it was fine initially, but those of us who have VPNs and memberships with iQiyi have been having a lot of problems with the show showing up. The only way we can view it on iQiyi is if we have direct links to that specific video and use a VPN, thus me making that list in discussions. Basically, it should work for us international fans who use a VPN- but it doesn't.

BPG and I have been wondering if, despite what they say about VIP, the premium membership would allow us to easily view and find Gen Y 2. Maybe the standard has limited VIP access, even though both, according to what they say, should have all VIP access.

Either way, I'm very close to canceling my iQiyi account and going to SH's Youtube.
On Gen Y Season 2 Feb 5, 2022
Very curious about something: those of you who watch the show on iQiyi's site and/or app, which membership do you have and are you having these issues where the GY2 doesn't show up unless you have a direct link?

There *might* be a chance that the premium VIP works better than the standard one. Even though my understanding, both are supposed to have full access to everything VIP on the site, so that shouldn't be the case.

Agreed. I never cared for Wayu & Thanu. At all. Hoped that'd change with S2, but not a bit.I was over the moon…
There's footage of them filming later episodes and Junior (Padbok's actor) is in some of them, so I don't think they're going to drop it.

However, I' e had this feeling that the reason why it's taking so long for him to show up might be do to conflict with the company...? Some people noticed he removed the comapny's name from his bio on social media, for example.

Hey y'all, just gonna pop in my 2 cents about Pok and Tong so far DISCLAIMER: this is only my opinion. please…
Great read! The vast amount of internal turmoil these two have is what intrigues me the most about this pairing- and also makes me want to root for them at the same time. They love each other, clearly, but started extremely rocky before anything could take root, and it affects them deeply. I feel like if they were able to start their romantic relationship in a healthy manner and then all of that stuff happened, then they would've been as destructive as they are now.

I think you'd be interested in the Pok and Tong thread BadPennyGirl made in the discussions! It's basically discussing this very thing :]

One comment I do have to make is that while Pok is hot headed and it's very easy to see him as a good brawler, there's also the fact that his sports career means SO much to him; I don't think he'd ever get into physical fights- even though he probably really wants to at times. On the other hand, those three guys....*definitely* have gotten into fights before. The fact that they've resulted to not only beating up their opponent, but also doing so in the scummiest way possible (ambushing and outnumbering)- That screams experience to me. They know what they're doing, so them being able to get Pok to a point where he can't fight back doesn't surprise me.

Hmm, I cleared my cache when it was acting really weird for me once, and that worked.

But yeah, I've gotten to a point where if it's still a problem, I'll pay for the Youtube one instead. I want to support them monetarily, but iQ is making that hard

Probably unlike many of you, I think this series is becoming to clouded with the manipulations, deceptions, misunderstandings,…
I agree there's a lot going on, but that's also what I find very interesting about it.

BLs in general tend to be very simple; some of them explore the same themes and relationship tropes as seen in Gen Y, but they usually just scratch the surface and that's about it. We're very used to this formula because of how common it is, so Gen Y can easily feel like *a lot*. I do thoroughly enjoy that Gen Y has gone deeper than majority of BLs out there. At the end of the day, you can very easily argue that this genre is just about seeing guys makeout with a bit of easy-to-digest drama to hold the viewer's attention. So I do appreciate the effort Gen Y puts in the story.

I also think that perhaps another reason why its easy to feel overwhelmed by the story is because the story is written so that we know a very big chunk of what's going on. It's not written so that we're unaware like most of the characters. Neither writing styles are wrong, but they can have some flaws, definitely. That compounded with a larger cast can feel like a lot. I do wish that they maybe had 2 or 3 extra episodes per season, but that isn't their fault.

Pha has had an enormous part in this terrible spate Kit is currently experiencing. Because I will argue that Wayu…
Ohhh yes, PaperWizard back again with a GREAT analysis!!

I always felt like what Kit was doing wasn't necessarily on purpose. Like, he wasn't hurting Mark (and himself too in the end) just because he's a bad person and it's in his "nature" to do so. I always had a feeling he might have some sort of avoidance and/or rejection issue, but I never knew how to put it into words or what ways to support my theory.

I feel like we the audience never spent enough time thinking about Kit's reaction to Pha's situation; I'm definitely guilty of that. The writers didn't either, but I think they did that on purpose for the reasons you stated above. But they definitely left a bread crumb trail and now it's all coming to a head.

I also think they can work things and grow into a healthier relationship.

Your review of the episode was on point and quite funny. I actually like the episode so much better after reading…
Thank you! I'm glad my review helped in some way :]

With MarkKit, I do grow a little weary of them. I've mentioned before how I wish the drama for the subplot was better executed, more polished. I think it would make a lot more sense to a lot of people if it was.
The both of them are just being very stubborn for very different reasons; I would say that Kit's mostly to blame for this whole scenario, but Mark never wanting to stand firm against Kit's words really doesn't help the situation at all. Instead what is happening is that instead of spending time with each other, they're allowing time to go by while neither of them want to move for their own reasons.

I know lack of proper communication (keyword: *proper*) is a tired trope in romance, but it's so very real. The amount of times I've seen friends and family not solve problems because they don't know how to properly communicate is insane.

As for ThanuWayu, it does feel like it's a bit dragged out, but there's a pretty good reason, in my opinion, for why neither of them want to take the leap. When they do finally cross the line, I'm sure it's going to be crazy good!

And HONESTLY! I'm pretty sure PokTong is my favorite pairing, ever since S1. Sure they were unhealthy as all hell, but it's the journey of going from bumbling, dumb, horny teenage ways of thinking to growing and understanding each other that really does it for me. So far, though...Pok, sir, you are on thin ice LMAO. I'm SO afraid something extreme is going to happen to him or Tong.
I'm really hoping for a scene where they talk things out seriously though. They really need that before they get back together and start things over.

As for Saendee: the show explores different types of love and the negatives of them. With Saendee, it was pretty clear from alllll the way back in like S1E2 that he had feelings for Phai. Some people, for a variety of reasons, won't date the person they're in love with; sometimes it's because they feel like they don't deserve them, for example. Whatever Saendee's reason is for not approaching Phai himself, he still wanted to make Phai happy. And Phai, initially, was happy with the idea of finding his soulmate, something they talked about a few times; he thought his soulmate/destiny was Thanu. So Saendee would encourage Phai to "follow his destiny"...but then Wayu got in the way. And, well, we saw how that went.

He's a hard character to read and that's what makes him fun LOL

iQiyi Thailand on twitter posts the direct links. I want to say they've been doing it for every episode so far! I started relying on their twitter page starting a couple of weeks ago when the issues on iQiyi started becoming more frequent.

This week on Lengthy As Fuck Review Brought To You By JayDeeJay
Character of the week: Thanu. What a thirsty, thirsty man he is...
Not Character of the week: Kit. Sir...What in the world...A very close second is Pok's coach.

❤ PhaWayu
Their scenes were fine. One issue I had with S1 was that I wished they showed more scenes of the characters, specifically the couples, just doing more casual stuff. I think spending a little extra time with pairings/events is very important, so I didn't mind it for this episode. We've been seeing little moments of them together, and I'm fine with it.

Though the part when Pha tried kissing Wayu's hand and Wayu pulled away? AWWWKWARD.

I figured Pha still harbored feelings for him despite what he said in S2E1. I also figured that Pha would maybe try getting back with Wayu somehow. That move combined with him saying he's sorry that he can't give Wayu happiness....definitely not crazy about that.
You could try and argue that the kiss is a result of Wayu bringing him red roses. Maybe Pha assumed Wayu may still feel something because he used to bring Wayu red roses when they were dating. Though at the same time...remember what y'all talked about in S2E1, Pha?? I feel like he's trying to be sneaky. Manipulative, yet again.

And then Wayu tells him, as he pulls his hand away, that no...this is not what you think it is. I'm not the same Wayu as before.

And then Pha cut off visitations LMAO.
Whateverrrrr, Pha.

I will say, I'm SO glad Wayu said what he said! Finally putting a boundary there. I know for a lot of people it's hard to set boundaries, so I don't blame Wayu for taking a while to do so.

Hmmm...that's about it for this section. NEXT!

❤PokTong

Their scenes were also fine too. Stressful and heartbreaking? YES, absolutely. I'm glad they didn't resolve anything yet in this episode. It didn't feel like they lingered too much on them, which was nice.

Pok getting angry was understandable. Tong going to the principal's office to report the abuse is also understandable.

I feel like what Tong could've done was get together with the others and devise a plan to get evidence of those assholes beating up Pok before bringing the attention of it to higher ups. However, we already discussed why Pok not doing so himself makes sense for his character. It also makes sense that Tong didn't do the same: he's mad worried about Pok's safety, and instead of waiting and thus allowing Pok to get even more injured, he jumped the gun and reported it.

We don't know if he had any concrete proof, but I doubt it.

So far, their emotions, reactions and pacing of the subplot consistently make the most sense out of all of the pairs- minus the bullshit sex scene in ep 4, of course. Their issue is blunt, to the point and easy to understand and maybe even to relate to. I like that.

Side note: I actually thought he was going to turn himself in. But then...I don't quite think that would make sense? We still don't know if Pok's grade was high enough for him to pass; we know it was alright enough that it didn't change Saendee's final grade, though. I feel like if he did that, there could be a chance Pok would have to drop out if his real final grade wasn't high enough. It's potentially quite risky.

What we really need is for the coach to stop being so damn clueless and get a grip already! But I've known coaches where were like that, so that ain't surprising. Unfortunately.

One last thing: Pok...child...please learn to think before you speak, m'kay? Cuz I thought it'd bite you in the ass now, but uh...I don't think the moment's arrived yet.
Okay, NEXT!

💔MarkKit
...man. MAN.
Kit sneaking into Mark's room, wearing his clothes, laying in his bed and showing all of this off to Mark all while telling him to stay away. That was foul play. And Mark just listening to him?? My man continued sitting there at the bar begging Kit to let him go back to his own damn room. Sir, *what*??I sat there practically screaming at the screen like "MARK, JUST GO".

I felt like this was the climax of Kit's bullshit. Kit got back to Phai's dorm after he had car troubles and Mark was worried after he couldn't reach Kit, so he went to Phai's dorm. This redulted in them talking to each other- through the door. Kit doing this and saying what he said really solidified his reasoning and stance on the situation, imo. I understood where he was coming from since this whole thing began, but I felt the delivery was off kilter. Thus, I don't blame anyone for not understanding why the fuck all of this was happening in the beginning.

I feel like the dialogue stated during this scene should've been said when all of this first started so that we could have had a better understanding of what they're thinking.

.This scene, though...Man, it really shoved into the light this awful side of Kit: how rough and manipulative he can be. Mark is literally *right there* and Kit still won't budge. However, these scenes also really exemplified Mark's own stubborn nature to say how he really feels .

They're both pushing each other to stay in one spot while forcing themselves to do the same. Like I've said before, I'm glad these unhealthy quirks about them are finally being explored. Like, *finally*. Still feels a little random, but it's needed in my opinion.

And Phai telling Kit that his comments to Mark were way too harsh? Nice. NICE.
Good job, Phai!
I think Phai witnessing this and potentially being the one to help them both in some way would show SO much character growth.

This is completely random, but I'm sorry to those who think it's MarkKit. It's very clearly KitMark, lets be honest with ourselves. Even after this whole thing resolves itself, it's going to be KitMark. NEXT!

❤The Play/ThanuWayu/JackKo/KoJack/Those two just need to fuck PLEASE.

Now we're finally getting to some fun stuff!
I honestly love this trope of mashing characters, usually all of the main and support characters, into an event where they're made to work with each other no matter how much they try to stay away from the characters they don't want to interact with. Bad Buddy did this with the play and the trip, My Engineer did this with the trip- quite common in BL dramas!

So, the comm. arts department is putting together a play! There's three stories their going to show: the first one is about gangsters; friendship, pride and betrayal. Jack, Jill, and Mark were chosen for this one, but they need someone to fill the fourth slot. Who will it be...?

The second story is a fairy tale/fantasy story about a spirit prince defeating an evil spirit. HMMM, which characters would fit such a role, I wonder??

Of course, it's Wayu (who was pretty much forced by Sab to join) as the prince (like he deserves!!), Saendee (who I did NOT expect to be there tbvh) as the evil spirit- and Sab and Klui as the the common villagers LOL. I feel like this could be a very good opportunity for either Saendee to continue with his evil plan of fucking shit up for everyone- or the opportunity for him to finally simmer down and continue trying to be nice and stable for once. We shall see, indeed. All the slots for this story are full.

The third story is about demons fighting to be the Best Demon(tm). I believe the translation for this is off, but Pok is the human visiting the forest, Kalae is Death (?!?!?!) and Phai is the wizard! Why is Kalae Death, I don't know, but I'm intrigued. And Phai being a wizard....VERY intrigued. Can be very telling about his character. And I'm assuming that Pok will turn into a demon maybe...? Demon Pok sounds fun, not gonna lie. All the slots for this story are full.

Side note: BGP and I talked about RPG classes for each character, and we thought Phai would be a magic user. So him getting the wizard role is SO funny to me. I love it here.

And lastly, they have this idea of having handsome students wear fun costumes so that the audience can get the chance to take pictures with them. Koh is the only one, so far, chosen for this; there are four empty slots.

The other characters I have not mentioned, like Tong and Kit, did not show up. It would be very interesting if they're convinced to join them, though. Jill mentions at one point wanting to be the one to help find the last person for the gangster story. I'm 99.99999% convinced that Padbok will join. Though it's probably just me yearning for him to finally return.

Now, I'm also like 99% convinced Sab got his seniors to help him with Project: Get Thanu And Wayu Together So They Can Finally Make Up And Fuck, because WOW those ThanuWayu scenes were GOOD. Hilarious how Thanu didn't even use the measuring tape correctly because he was far too busy fucking Wayu with his intense stares and extreme closeness. Him bumping his hips against Wayu's. Really, sir? I outta spray you with some water! Down boy, DOWN. Bring down the heat, Thanu! This ain't your bedroom, babe LOL
I do think Dun's acting in this part was very good; he's improving!

The scene with JackKoh/KohJack was very funny. Them proceeding to act like they haven't gone on at least one Totally-Not-A-Date date is great. Would I be surprised if they've already hooked up at this point and are acting like they haven't? No.

Saendee's involvement in all of this is extremely fascinating to me: I don't think we've ever seen him partake in campus activities before, have we? Outside of being part of the student council in high school, but he joined that before shit hit the fan.
Him looking towards Wayu's direction was...interesting. Bank does a great job with these facial expressions where it's honestly hard to tell what his character is thinking; the expressions tend to be very subtle and it's easy to guess incorrectly.

And all seems fine!! ...Until he shows up next to Phai who's standing behind Pok. I'm sitting here like "sir...don't. Don't do it-" And he did it. He asks Pok how things are with Tong and Pok nearly whoops his ass yet again. I refuse to believe that there's someone more tone deaf than Pok's coach. He had to have done that in purpose. And when Pok moves away, Saendee is back with his weird expressions- except this one looks...familiar. I think he's still on his bullshit. I'm calling it.

Though I've had this thought for a while...What if he somehow ends up helping Pok and/or Tong? That would be WILD.

Now, one critique I've had for this season so far is the editing. Mostly in the tone switch, choice of music at times, and transitions between scenes. Like in episode 4, right after that heartbreaking scene with PokTong, they immediately cute to Dun walking to his car with a goofy smile. It was so weird. There's something about this episode that I'm not crazy about, and I believe it's the editing at times. I'll have to rewatch once or twice more to really figure it out.

All-in-all, I'm excited for next week! I hope we get a reaction video or another BTS one beforehand, too.

good people of BL, just explain to me, why Kit and Mark had to separate like this... I am trying really hard to…
There's a couple of posts below that better and fully explains it, but basically Mark and Kit have had their own problems since pretty much the beginning: Mark is a pushover when it comes to Kit and Kit is quite manipulative and stubborn. Together, they don't make a healthy pair regardless of how cute they looked up until recently. It's a problem that's been getting worse and worse since season one. They're both bad at speaking to each other honestly.

Kit doesn't want to leave but isn't going to say that. Instead, he chooses to be very oassive agressive about it. Mark doesn't want him to leave. But instead he tells Kit what he thinks Kit wants to hear; he assumes that Kit wants to go accept the scholarship.

And instead of saying what he really wants to say, Kit comes up with this excuse that they're "practicing" for the real deal.

One of the biggest issues I think for the whole Thanu/Phai/Wayu thing is the heavy emphasis on fate/destiny, but…
I honestly have thought something similar!

What makes ThanuWayu interesting to me in regards to destiny is that this pairing, just like how Phai is trying to take control of his own destiny, they're also trying to do the same. That's how I see it anyway. Like, in the show, there are a lot of coincidences, and one of them is that Thanu is the one who saved Wayu when he fell that one time, but Wayu wakes up to Pha and thinks it was him the whole time. We're seeing something similar with the scene in Ep5 when Wayu fainted, Thanu took him to the clinic, but once again, Wayu "sees" someone else- Sab this time. It's like Wayu's having a hard time trying to take control of destiny himself like how Thanu and Phai have.

I believe the vision/memories Thanu and Wayu had happens at the time it did because when it does occur, that's when Thanu's already trying to break away from destiny/fate that told him he'd be with Phai.

I've been saying ever since I got back into the series a couple of months ago that I do wish certain plot points were better executed. Like, they all make sense and the concept is very good imo, but with the way they are showcased, I don't blame some people for getting confused.
A great example is the one you've mentioned: the drama with MarkKit. In my opinion, the separation is necessary because their relationship wasn't the healthiest; I'm hoping the issues are addressed as such. However, the way they executed this plot point? Messy. It comes off as very unnecessary and random. Even though I get what's going on, I can't help but feel some level of uninterested when their scenes popped up in ep6. Which is unfortunate.

I also like this development with Phai! He came off as a bit of a pushover/very naïve to me in S1, but he's growing. Him jumping the gun and secretly getting a tattoo was pretty badass, not gonna lie lol
