There's a plot line where Xiang Xiang's nurse friend comes back from Nanjing after the mass rape/massacre. They can't show it onscreen, but a Chinese audience who knows history would have understood the reference.

It's not weird, it's just what Taiwanese names look like when romanised :)

Using "Yun-hsiang" is actually more accurate than "Yunxiang" as Taiwan uses Wade-Giles as its official romanticisation system for names, not pinyin.

Everything is the ML's dad's fault.

In the past, it's the FL's fault for not communicating to the ML when his father tried to break them up. But in the present, it's the ML's fault for not setting boundaries with his father when he attacks FL and telling him to stop interfering with FL and their son.

It's not really their flaws by themselves that are getting between them, it's people getting in-between them and exploiting their flaws to blow things up.

It was not addressed to her. You don’t know what the word “addressed” means. To address a written card to someone is to literally write their name on it. It did not say “Dear TJ” like the commenter claimed. Learn to read.

TJ is a capable mother, who has done a great job at raising PP by herself with the support of her friends, she has not "hurt" him by being a single mother anymore than she has "hurt" him by not being as rich.

Even if you put aside what happened 7 years ago, NDY has been treating TJ like trash in the present and NYS has showed no backbone in standing up to his father where it actually matters. He's repeatedly not walking the talk when it comes to NDY.

Also, actually, forcing a child into a family dynamic as dysfunctional as that will actually hurt a child far more in the long run, and NYS is an idiot for thinking that it'll magically solve their problems. It won't, not until he sets boundaries with his dad and enforces them.

From TJ's POV, NYS's father:

- Forced TJ's dad into using doing a dodgy construction company (not confirmed, but is TJ's perception)
- Scapegoated TJ's dead dad which caused all the victims and their family to come after her for money (not confirmed, but is TJ's perception)
- Paid TJ hush money/"break up with my son, you're not good enough for him" money
- Verbally abuses her and talks down to her like she's dirt
- Makes it clear that he doesn't think she's a good person
- Doesn't respect her or her decisions as PP's mother
- Wants to take PP away from her, and only allow her visitation rights once a week

Seriously, would you want YOUR kid to be spending more time around someone like that? Would you trust them not to try turn your kid against you?

Meanwhile, NYS who promised to side with her over PP's custody over his father decides actually, the best idea is that she should just marry him to keep custody. What's best for a child is NOT throwing him deeper into an environment where all he sees is that grandpa hates mom, dad doesn't stand up for mom, and mom only married dad because she was afraid she'd lose custody otherwise.

Tbh, I bet there's going to be a reveal where the dad was in the dark too, and actually it was the secretary who was behind everything.

That has nothing to do with your argument that TJ should somehow know that he’s not impartial because he has a grudge?

NYS was born in 1990. They wanted to cast these actors for this drama, so it's just something you have to ignore haha.

For the cake thing, he wasn't actually buying he a cake and writing her a card. He was using the cake as an excuse to go inside to see her, but he made it seem like it was for his lover's birthday. The card wasn't addressed to her.

SFT is an outsider from TJ's perspective (she doesn't know his background yet), and he didn't even know about PP's real father being NYS until she told him. His advice was actually pretty impartial up until he found out. After he talked about all the tactics NYS's father would use, TJ asks him if NYS would do that too, and he actually says that he doesn't know.

The thing is, from what TJ knows at this point, SFT is the most impartial person. SQ is NYS's best friend and ex-girlfriend, that's not "impartial" at all. SFT, who as far as TJ knows, has only met NYS a few times and knows of NYS's father from being in business circles.

Wow, if ML doesn’t get a grip and commit to standing up to his father and actually doing it, I’m going to be on team ex husband soon. Even when he fails, at least he gives it his all in trying.

I've updated the English subs to episode 11!

But I've just seen from a Chinese source that this mini-drama is going to 72 episodes in total. That is... a lot of episodes, and each episode can take me around an hour or more to sub. Hopefully, official subtitles will happen, but if not, I'll keep subbing until further notice.

Nah, ML needs to step up and set boundaries with his father. His father should never have been at Pingping's bedside after he asked FL to keep husband away and that he would keep his father away too in return. ML made a promise he didn't deliver on.

Also, he would be a huge asshole if he didn't take the custody battle seriously, so hopefully he does lol.

We're all just posting our thoughts about the characters in the comments section as the drama airs. If this drama didn't make us feel strongly about things, then it's not doing a very good job at getting us engaged. If you don't want to participate, then that's fine.
