He went to his friend for help first but his friend told him to go see his father if he wants to find the best…
Tbh... the ML didn't have to listen to his friend. He took the easy way out asking his father for help.

ML should NOT have made that deal with the FL at all if he knew that he wouldn't be able to keep up his end of the bargain (which, knowing his father, he should have known). Yes, he did tell his father to leave but that's not the same thing at all. He's still breaking her trust imo, he shouldn't promise things he can't deliver on.

The sensible thing to do would the two of them working together to make sure that another fight doesn't break out, instead of this unfair situation where the more powerful side gets contact, and the other doesn't.

ML needs to think things through a lot more than he currently is.

So, the ML agrees with the FL that he won't let his father go near Pingping until after his surgery (and the FL won't let her husband visit Pingping either). She keeps up her end of the bargain but he doesn't seem surprised or like he cares when he sees his father in Pingping's room.

And then knowing that his father wants to fight for Pingping's custody, AND that his father is ruthless in getting what he wants, he tells his father that FL has been detained by the police.

ML needs to step up.

I saw the preview for ep.19-20 but did not understand anything lol. I disagree with you that ML is weak. If you…
She definitely went to the SML for a more objective opinion. When she's about to go talk to the ML, it flashes back to the SML telling the FL that an outsider can provide a more objective opinion and that he's happy to help her. A person doesn't need to hear both sides of the story to be objective, they just need to not let their personal feelings influence them when considering the facts in front of them. His advice was also pretty objective and sensible too, up until he finds out who the child's dad is.

After what SML said, FL is now paranoid about any compromises or missteps because she thinks that it will result in her losing custody of her son, and the thing is, she's not wrong to think that because that's exactly what ML's dad wants to happen. She can't take any risks, especially given how powerful ML's dad is.

From the FL point of view, based on what the FL knows and has seen (and not what we know as the audience), she's doing the best she can.

I don't think the FL is wrong for going to SML instead of ML.

Her reasoning is that ML is too involved this case already, if she went to him for help, then she's forcing him to choose between her and his dying father. He also hasn't really given her any reason to trust that he'll take her side over his dad's. The reason why she went to SML is because his perspective will be more objective as an outsider.

I don't think ML is weak, he's just very broken and compared to TJ, he's the "living corpse."

I don't know which episode you are, but you clearly don't know. 1) Her friends forced her to go, to have her break.…
Well said. Her son has a chronic illness, and was stable at that point. A close friend was willing to step up for a few hours so she could go out, and you can bet she would have dropped everything to come back if needed. FL did nothing wrong in that instance. In fact, she needs to work on taking better care of herself.

I really like that "the husband" is not as bad as the book readers say he is....it gives him way more depth.
I think he's actually a good character, not just a one dimensional evil villain. He knows that he sucks a lot and that he's let TJ down a lot, but he also cares about her and Pingping, and he defended her and took care of her when she was alone. He became an alcoholic to try cope with trauma imo.

My Sunshine is a classic!

Too Late to Say I Love You is a bit old now, but it was super popular back in the day, and has the same CP as this drama.

There's actually not that much hate. There's a few comments here and there, but this drama is getting pretty popular…
It's a non-controversy that people who can't read or understand Chinese are blowing out of proportion here.

Wallace’s performance in this drama has been great, so natural, that I can only see Nie YuSheng. His performance…
His breakdown. That was the craziest, most unrestrained piece of acting I've seen in a long time from a romance c-drama. You can tell that he's prioritising giving the best performance he can over trying to look nice on camera.

why all this hate over Wallace Chung accent I'm abt to fight those c-netizens
There's actually not that much hate. There's a few comments here and there, but this drama is getting pretty popular so it's not a lot compared to the amount of love that it's getting. Dramas with bad plots get trashed on Douban WAY more than this.

That is ridiculous that people were complaining about his accent. Personally, I wish they would not dub chinese…
You need to stop using your hate for dubbing to try explain a plot hole and putting words into other peoples mouths.

You know what would break immersion a lot less? If they matched the younger actor's accent to Wallace's.

This is what one of the producers, Xu Jianing (who is also Li Xiaoran's husband) had to say about using Wallace's original voice:

"The use of Wallace's original voice was decided from the very beginning from when we decided to work with Wallace. Because I know Wallace very well and we've known each other for over 10 years and worked on 3 dramas together, when we communicate it's in Wallace's Cantonese accent (Gangpu, i.e. Canto-Mando pidgin) so we're very used to it. When we finished making this drama, many people opposed saying that we had to dub, but we insisted on using original voices (the one who insisted the most was Xiaoran). Why didn't we agree to dubbing? I could easily find a voice actor to dub over all his lines with perfect pronunciation, but that wouldn't be Wallace. In all of his scenes, especially the scenes where there are intense emotions, if a voice actor dubbed it then the results would be fake and would diminish Wallace's performance. Wallace's performance in this drama is, out of all his works that I've seen, his best performance yet." (translation is mine from a Chinese source)

I'm very glad that they insisted on keeping his original voice. He uses his voice so well and doesn't hold back, especially during the intense emotional scenes.

(I saw some clips of TLTSILY where Wallace and LXR were using their original voices then compared it to the dubbed version, and it really did diminish Wallace's performance because the voice actor couldn't capture all the emotions.)

You're telling me that a person can speak Mandarin with a Mainland standard accent up until his early 20s, and then suddenly 7 years later (while living and working in a standard Mandarin environment) his accent suddenly changes to a Cantonese accent? People do not go from a standard Mandarin accent to Cantonese accented Mandarin like that.

It is an inconsistency within the storytelling.

At the end of the day, it breaks immersion for a lot of people and you really don't need to be so defensive about it.

Agreed. I actually like Wallace's accent and prefer it to dubbing because I think it conveys more emotion, but it definitely broke immersion when the character playing his younger self (and dad) had completely different accent to him.

My dear friends, what does the lousy husband whisper to NYS on episode 12 at about 24:40? My Chinese is so limited,…
If it's the scene that I'm thinking of after the apology, the husband says something like "if you don't cure Pingping, I'll kill you"

If someone who understands Chinese watched the preview for episode 14 on Youku, could you, please, tell me what…
Basically:
- ML asks husband to divorce FL
- Husband asks what FL thinks, and ML says that the problem is with the husband not FL
- Husband agrees and asks how much the ML is going to offer him.
- ML asks him how much he wants, and husband says 5 million RMB
- ML tells him "this isn't the way to solve the problem"
- Husband tells ML "You're the one who wanted to discuss this, I made an offer and you can't afford it"
- ML starts to leave, but husband tells him to wait
- Husband tells ML "If you take care of Tan Jing, then I won't stop you. If I divorce her, then will you be able to marry her?"
- ML doesn't reply
