He’s a really well-known film actor, not an idol drama actor so his casting was a huge surprise to many people.

- YF has come to ask JC for a favour regarding QY, and JC refuses to go because he's busy and tells YF to go find someone else. YF points out that JC doesn't have anything to do in the mortal realm other than look after LX, and that they'll have all the time in the world together after LX's 19 years as a mortal.
- YF catches sight of LX and JX:

Ugh. I don't think the music is bad, but I think they tried to keep the OST toned down a bit more to match the older and more mature feel of the drama and it just resulted in the music not really standing out and being really forgettable.

The only use of music that really stood out to me was the end of episode 28.

From what I know, this was filmed pretty much at the same time as Pillow Book (second half of 2018), but Love and Destiny wasn't announced until after it was complete which is why it feels like there was hardly any time between us hearing about it, and it airing.

I'm guessing that Pillow Book wants a TV broadcast in China, and there's heaps of restrictions right now which is why it has to wait. Love and Destiny is online streaming only so easier to release :)

That storyline isn't really similar, unless you're talking about tropes/setting that are super common this this genre anyway?

Watched up to episode 28, and if you're on the fence about starting/continuing this drama then I suggest skimming first few episodes (I skimmed and fast forwarded a lot up to 12-ish and didn't miss much) if they don't grab you right away. The romance starts to get really pick up around episodes 18 and gets intense pretty quickly after that.

You know that people have been criticising the fact that it happens in Hollywood, right? It's not like people suddenly care because it's a Chinese drama lmao.

Uhuh, come back when you know multiple girls/young women in their teens to early twenties who've been fucked up by relationships with older men and it was exactly that age difference that allowed that to happen.

It's irresponsible as fuck to just say ~age is just a number~ and hand wave the age gap away just because some of those relationships work out fine.

Just in case you need me to break it down for you:

Irresponsible romanticising of relationships that deserve to be side-eyed irl in the media = gross
People in healthy age gap relationships = not gross

Aaaah, we're getting the "reborn in the mortal realm" arc from episode 25 onward. From the previews, it looks like he just watches over her growing up in 26-27, and they don't meet again until 28 and they're engaged by 29/30.

Aaaaa, the drama is at a 6.4 on Douban already! It started off at 5.4 only a few days ago, so it's a huge jump up :D

1. HSY was rude as hell the first few times they met. Anyone from a more traditional Chinese family can tell you that. The onus was on HIM to be polite and get to know her, not the other way around.

2. She didn't tell him to break up with TN. From her perspective, they were already broken up so she was telling TN's ex-boyfriend who randomly turned up at her house to stay away.

3. She didn't interfere with TN dating HSY the first time around, even after the horrible first meeting and second and disapproving of him. She supported TN through that break up.

A 20 year age gap when the younger partner is a bit older like 30 and 50 is fine, but 22 and 42 just feels gross tbh.
