I don't understand chinese, but I think LC in this trailer is reincarnate or being punished.Someone sub this trailer…
It looks like one of those "reborn in the mortal world" arcs. LX is telling JC that although they're engaged, it wouldn't be good if someone discovered him in her room. They go out into the courtyard and JC says that he won't be able to see her for a while, and she says that he needs to take his medicine to combat his cold sickness.
I just want to share this. I'm excited to see the upcoming episodes. https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4396794601956222
Quick translation of the trailer for those who don't speak Chinese!
JC: Ling Xi, I want to take you as my wife. Are you willing? LX: Then are you willing to be by my side for a lifetime, never to part?
YF: Qing Yao... QY: No matter if it is one thousand years or ten thousand years, I will be waiting here for you.
JX(?): To be trapped by love, in so much pain death would be kinder
JC: The truth of Ling Xi's birth will put her life in danger. I will protect her.
SM: The God Cauldron is an ancient treasure made by the original gods. Are you going to save Ling Xi?
??: If you don't have the stone heart of Nuwa, you will die!
YF: Shixiong!
(1.04) JC: I should not have appeared by your side, but I am afraid that there is no one to take care of you. But if there is someone to take care of you, I am afraid that you will forget me.
JC: No matter what happens in the future, or whoever you become, I will stay by your side. You must believe me.
??: Do you want to save Ling Xi, or do you want to save Ah Mo?
LX: You once said that you would take care of me forever, that you would protect me. Was that all fake?
JC(?): [There's a line that I don't really understand. I think he's saying that as long as he's alive, love and family are things worth protecting but I'm not sure]
JC's Master: Responsibilities and promises, these are the principles/path that you have spent your entire life chasing.
LX: Dad!
(At the 2.00) ??: Millions of demons attacking the Celestial Palace, destruction of the world.
JC: [Uhh I'm not sure, but I think he's saying having reached this point, he must do his duty]
LX: You use your life to protect all the people the world, [uhh not sure again, but I think she says something along the lines of "how do you know that I will use romantic affections to hold you back"]
JC: I will not leave you, and I have never truly abandoned you.
JC: No matter where I am, as long I draw breath, I will return to your side.
How comes that Hu Yi Tian is a supporting character? Isnt he the big star? :/
He's not even billed as supporting, he's billed as a "special appearance" or basically a guest star. The "main cast" is Yang Zi, Li Xian, and apparently the actors for Xiao Mi and Solo too.
Tbh, if you look at things from TN's mom's perspective and take into account ONLY what she knows (and not what we know as a viewer who sees all sides), the mom is perfectly justified in her dislike of HSY.
HSY thinks to himself during the New Years Dinner that he looks like an older man who had tricked a young girl into being with him and won't own up to it. On New Year's Day, he just bought some fruit from the shop outside TN's house, showing that he put no effort into it. Let's be real, from an outsiders perspective, HSY has an AWFUL attitude with the not smiling, needing to be prompted into greeting elders and holding conversations, and just looking sullen (or like someone "owes you money") all the time.
If you were TN's mom, would YOU think that HSY was serious about TN with his 1. unwillingness to admit the relationship 2. rudeness to TN's family and 3. the sudden break-up that left TN devastated?
For all TN's mom knows, HSY agreed to to a blind date with TN's cousin while in a relationship with TN. And the way HSY just backed off without trying to explain things when TN's mom chewed him out and told him to stay away from TN. Does that look like someone who is serious about TN, or just some guy who wasn't that serious in the first place and thinks it's not worth the effort anymore? WE know why he would agree to it, but TN's mom doesn't.
From our perspective as a viewer, we know that HSY is actually a good person at heart, just bad at communication and social interactions and so dedicated to K&K that he doesn't have time for anything.
BUT
TN's mom doesn't know that they weren't actually dating at first. She doesn't know that it was TN who broke off the fake relationship. All she knows that TN dated a rude older man who "plays on the computer" for a living and broke TN's heart. For heaven's sake, she doesn't even know that TN and HSY got (back) together for real because no one told her.
It's harsh, but to TN's mom, HSY just looks like a rude older man who is just playing with TN's feelings. She has every reason to dislike HSY and he hasn't given her any reasons to like or trust him.
Jiu Chen is just really lovely to watch on screen, and not just because Chang Chen has a nice face. His character is so so so different to many of the male leads I've seen, and I'm loving the older/mature vibes.
- He's undramatic. If it's not a big deal, he'll just let it go and doesn't get worked up over the small things. When a line is crossed, he'll put his foot down but won't make a scene about it. - He's unpretentious. Sure, he's a high-ranking and powerful god of war, but JC treats it as a duty or a responsibility, and not a reflection of his intrinsic worth over others. - He is responsible. - He shows weakness, and doesn't feel threatened by his own weakness. - He doesn't scheme or plot behind the scenes, or strategically hide his true emotions and thoughts. What you see is what you get. - He shows his affections for Ling Xi in his own understated way, and doesn't try to hide them. - He doesn't belittle or condescend Ling Xi when she doesn't know something or screws up. - He doesn't try to control Ling Xi and isn't possessive. In matters concerning her future, he asks her how she feels and gets her consent.
Finally, a god/immortal character who actually acts mature. Fingers crossed that he stays that way through the rest of the drama.
I'm glad Ling Xi is played by Ni Ni and not a younger actress like I've heard people suggest because of the young naive character. Ni Ni is 30 and there's already a very visible age age between her and Chang Chen (42) which I think fits the characters well. If they got a younger actress, I think the age gap would be waaaaay too off-putting and give off creepy uncle vibes.
Ling Xi is also quite shameless and I think Ni Ni's coquettish, almost foxy look suits it well (compared to the wide-eyed innocence look that other actresses have).
This drama has a sad feel to it, the opening and closing OST give off a sad feel. I wonder if this will be a happy…
It's not really related.
It's done by the same director + production team and using the same sort of fantasy world. It was also originally called "Three Lives Three Worlds Chen Xi Yuan" before they got rid of the "Three Lives Three Worlds" part and just stuck with Chen Xi Yuan.
Ling Xi: A minor immortal from Taolin. Because her father, Le Bo doesn't allow her to leave Taolin, she especially yearns for freedom.
Jiu Chen: The War God of the Celestial Clan. Fell into a deep sleep after sealing the Demon Lord during the war, was is unexpectedly awakened by Ling Xi.
Jing Xiu: The guoshi* of the Shanling Clan. Uses ruthless and cunning tactics with a unwavering heart to assist the ruler of the Shanling Clan, Ling Yue. Secretive and deliberate. (* "Guoshi" translates to the "teacher of the state." He's pretty much advisor #1.)
Qing Yao: Ling Xi's shijie (she was Le Bo's apprentice), works in the Celestial Palace under the Medicine King. Is knowledgeable and experienced with a cold exterior but warm at heart.
Yun Feng: A God of the Celestial Clan, Jiu Chen's shidi (they had the same master). Confident, easy-going, attentive and considerate. Sincerely cares for every female immortal.
Yuan Tong: A female general of the Celestial Clan, always dressed in armour and on par with the men. Will be reckless in the name of love, and moving forward step by step.
Ling Yue: The ruler of the Shanling Clan. Although she is in charge of an entire clan, she is gentle and kind.
Si Ming: The Si Ming Star Lord of the Celestial Clan who is in charge of the fate of mortals. Although he looks like a serious person, he is actually witty and humorous.
Shi San: From the Jiaoren* Clan. 50,000 years ago, she was a male 'jiao.' Got along with Si Ming at first sight. (Jiaoren is often translated as 'mermaid')
Cheng Yan: Qing Yao's younger brother. Has an excitable personality. Grew up with Ling Xi.
These people are choosing to volunteer to do it, it's not like someone is forcing it down their throats. lol
Lol no one said that the volunteers were being forced to sub. It's about Viki as a business charging for a (sometimes sub-standard) service and profiting off volunteer work.
It's like if I ran a bag business and I paid for the materials, paid for the physical shop and staff, paid for the marketing team, but got volunteers to make all the bags I sold and made heaps of money.
I don't think they mention her age. I was also wondering about that....If you think about it, She started her…
She was born in 1999 (shown when the K&K boys look her up on the internet) and the drama is set in 2019 (shown during the CTF championships) so she's 19 at the beginning and turns 20 during the drama.
I am sure it is hard for some to root for this drama, and I think that is absolutely fine and I totally understand.…
Yup. Some people cheat because they're assholes on a power trip and do it simply because they can. In other cases, it happens because there's already something in the relationship that's fundamentally broken or not working. I've had friends in the second category, and it's a miserable situation for everyone involved.
That being said, I think we need more episodes to see the message that the drama is sending out. I don't think it encourages cheating, but I hope it tackles the consequences of Kehuan and Weiwei getting together and whether or not they've been looking at each other through rose-tinted glasses because they're so unhappy with their current relationship.
Admittedly, I've never seen that cliche before or I just don't remember. However, Zi Yuan is really delusional…
Eh, either medical or "I don't want to disrupt Kehuan's career," probably.
But that's not the point. The point is that EVEN if she told him, she could've still gotten an abortion if she didn't want the pregnancy. At the end of the day, she doesn't owe him a baby.
Admittedly, I've never seen that cliche before or I just don't remember. However, Zi Yuan is really delusional…
Eh. It's a trope I've seen used a couple of times now, and it's never done well (or, done in a way that doesn't make me think less of the male lead).
It isn't a defence of Ziyuan. I agree with what you're saying - she's completely in denial about their relationship and has been for years. I also think she was definitely wrong in getting an abortion without discussing it with Kehuan as they were in a committed relationship.
I don't think Kehuan would be wrong to feel betrayed at the lack of communication on such a big issue and have trouble trusting Ziyuan again, BUT I will be very disappointed in the writers try to justify Kehuan feeling like she "robbed" him of a child because that's just straight up entitlement over her body lol.
