How would I describe this Taiwanese series in one word? CUTE. Cute in practically everything (except maybe the sound). I gave the story a higher rating because it deals with a hot and modern topic, the acting was almost perfect in relation to the assessment of the life together of two men, the processing was subtle, decent so that the series could be acceptable to most viewers, but on the other hand " "tenderness" between the two men, between whom there is a real age difference of 15 years, was completely believable, natural, not two wax figures pushed together for a "pussy". Taiwan simply continues to prove that it belongs to the very top in the production of films and series with LGBT themes, and not only in Asia.
Please correct the length of the movie to 20 minutes, here on MDL it says 29 minutes. Source: movie on various servers and on youtube and IMDB. Also, please, it would be good to add the second main character of the film and that is the character of Tric (played by the actor Ross Pesigan). Source: IMDb https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3890330/
I wanted to send it via ADD CAST and you won't let me even though I'm logged in so next time I won't bother ...
Club Friday is a whole series of seasons that gradually deal with many themes, and among them is the theme of love between men in the fifth season (directed by the same director as the excellent series Tonhon Chonlatee). Here, these five intrigued me with their story directly from life, and therefore I think that many viewers "punish" this series for not ending as they would like (MDL "only" 7.2). The main character is Boss (the actor Pchy, who we already know from the film The Love of Siam shown here on GT) and he played his character absolutely wonderfully. The other actors also performed well and looked even better. In the first episode, especially the muscular Pok - if you click on the link to the YT first episode in the Comments (12 million views), he is lying in bed with the Boss. And then, of course, Win, the second most important character in the series, who has had a terrible time in some scenes. The whole story, which is read by two editors of Green Wave radio in the "Friday Club", tells the fate of Boss from high school to adulthood, his development in the matter of awareness of his own sexual orientation, his seemingly peaceful family, but in reality the obese sister just eats, sleeps and he doesn't help his mother, his almost thirty-year-old brother plays games and lets his parents support him, his mother has cancer, his father cheats on him with his lover, Boss falls in love with Win, who lives with a friend. Just the problems of everyday life, excellently handled, which is why this semi-forgotten piece interested me so much for its TRUTH.
The clear advantage of this continuation of the first series was the story, its impact, the reach among viewers. Actually, a bit of an exception compared to the vast majority of other BL series. Another plus was the music. What bothered me a little was the long-winded, even unnecessary chatter in some parts, unfortunately the creators carried over the "sin" from the first series in the form of driving in a car, the absolutely whiny, whiny and sleepy character Base. Also the end credits itself, I wouldn't let the five sing the theme song, obviously none of them can sing, everything could have been done differently, but that's probably how the creators wanted it. In my opinion, by far the weakest processing, for which I had to deduct half of the points from perfection. But thanks for the effort anyway. Those who do nothing, do not spoil anything, and this direction, style, BL stories are only filmed in a few countries of the world.
A series with a theme based on reality, when even in the Thai BL mass-production machinery there are "oddities" such as keeping actors under lock and key, without mobile phones and communication, when agencies themselves write their posts on social media for the actors. networks, beautification with plastic surgery, dividing actors into top and bottom and, accordingly, nutrition - diets or, on the contrary, stuffing them with protein shakes, sexual abuse. To make no mistake, in this series director James does not abuse his actor Aito, on the contrary, a romantic "forbidden" relationship breaks out between them. The abuse is only revealed at the end, when the producer first abused the actor Kaprao, whom he had kicked out before filming, and continued abusing Base. Actors smother it in themselves so they don't lose their jobs. This plot, story, acting and sound were of a high standard. It was worse with the processing, when some scenes seemed to me to be unnecessarily drawn out, slowed down, and then the scenes in the moving car - that was quite a horror that everyone knows. But overall satisfaction.
One of the two "shining" faces of the Gameboys series, the twenty-year-old actor Elijah Canlas, plays the main role of the seventeen-year-old journalism student Martin in this film, and as Karcikarel already writes, he played it excellently (he won the Jury Award for acting performance at the PP4 Awards Night 2018 festival, where the film was also awarded for best screenplay, cinematography and feature film). The "negative" TV reporter Lawrence was played by the three-year-old handsome Filipino Enzo Pineda and was portrayed very solidly. This controversial film about sexual harassment is a glimpse into the disillusioned soul of a young student who adores his idol. I think that there are a number of people in the world who "endure" the harassment of their idol, or perhaps a producer, in order to get the role of a toadstool, they simply do not want to let go of their possible chance at any cost. Finally, the newly filmed Thai series Call It What You Want is about this, for which I wrote a review a few days ago. The English hardsubs are quite small and harder to read, and I believe that in time someone will find separate subtitles so that those who can't speak English at all can translate them. It would be a shame not to see a movie with such good acting.
This is a really gentle Japanese dorama, as Joran writes. I would say pleasant, long-winded, indecisive, which drives many a European viewer almost to the point of madness, whether to deal with it as a complete joke that has nothing much to do with ordinary life (after all, it was written by two Japanese women primarily for Japanese women) or whether it will be continue and honor that it is a piece made on purpose, with elements of manga and anime, in part the characters may correspond to reality (e.g. a thirty-year-old man, engrossed in his work, would also be found here). In the end I got through everything, but I will admit that also a lot thanks to the absence of violence, blood and intrigue and an excellent rating on MDL, which even surpasses the most famous Thai BL blockbusters. When I look at the series from a distance, the actors' performance stands out more and more for me, less so the story and processing, which despite its originality was already too much for me. Kurosawa (Machida Keita, 29 years old at the time of filming) was for me, unlike probably other viewers, the cutest actor both in appearance and character. Adachi (Akaso Eiji, 26) looked very young for a 30-year-old workaholic, but he played his indecisiveness very well. Tsuge, at first it was a terrible character of an anime-madman, reminding me of the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, but again - I got used to it and appreciate the acting. The music was pleasant for me, but not the best.
One of the best Thai BLs of this year caught my attention mainly because of the story, which is really interesting and takes the viewer, just like Call It What You Want, into the backstage of the Thai large-scale production of BL series. Processing and sound were above average, but not top. Above all, I was bothered by the stretching of some scenes. From the 9th episode, however, the processing became more dramatic and the story began to progress. I appreciate that the plot did not deviate much from the main romantic-dramatic line. Among the actors, I was impressed by the character of Gene with his excellent portrayal, the shapely Nubsib made almost all the girls go crazy, and he also shone with a good performance (we know the actor from the series Until We Meet Again). Tiffy was interesting, and Tum (I think we'll be hearing more about him) was the most interesting to me physically. On the contrary, I found the character of Aey the least interesting, even acting wise. I have described the main characters in the Pictures. I definitely recommend it to BL lovers, but they have to "bite through" the first parts.
The Joseon Dynasty (Joseon) ruled Korea for more than 500 years before it was overthrown in 1910 by the conquering Japanese. From this minimalist series, it is not clear in which era exactly the story fell, but that is not important in the end. Anyway, right at the beginning and with the previews, one could have expected a big story, drama, but after the first episode, everything slipped into a mini-form, both in the cast, the length of the episodes and the story itself. Apparently, the creators also struggled with a low budget. The story, the idea (perhaps even according to reality) excellent, but for the most part unused, the potential that was offered was tons - like not many places, really a pity. But I don't mean to punish the creator. The main three characters are cast by three stars from other Korean series and projects that are very well rated here on GT - Where Your Eyes Linger (Jang) - sk tit, Mr. Heart (Lee) - series sk tit and movie cz tit by monvi and Wish You II (Kang) - has cz tit by karcikarl, I list the civil nicknames of the actors in parentheses and the actors are also listed in that order on the three-photo in the Pictures folder. I liked Lee - Choi Ki Wan the most in terms of character and acting, who appeared disguised as a woman for 95% of the series. Extremely pleasant, delicious, but I was impressed by the set, costumes, and sound. I learned how Koreans used to dress, how they lived. Overall satisfaction, BUT ... with a hugely wasted potential of the subject ...
I was initially apprehensive about this Thai mini-trilogy because of the one deeply subpar rating here. Following recommendations from other servers, I started the slightly confusing story from number two, which didn't make much sense to me at first, mysterious, what was real and what wasn't. In the end, what the creators wanted to convey came out of it, although I would still be looking for more explanation or longer footage. The sound is good and the songs are beautiful (in relation to the story - Jeff). The main characters of the Ingredients series have taken their roles very well here and I'm already looking forward to them appearing in KinnPorsche. A relatively heavy story would certainly be worth translating, but there are only hard subtitles.
Here, as with few Thai series, I was struck by the contradiction between the story and the "rest". The story from the "faculties", even if embellished with small nuances, brought me almost nothing, only boredom, moreover, it was broken into a few cliques. The cast is solidly performed, but mainly the male staff (main and secondary roles) could min. half to go compete for some Thai man of the year (incl. the Chinese Mek who was dubbed). But the Thai "handsomes" could not balance my emptiness from the story, which was also terribly long. Sound = very solid and the processing professionally excellent. It's just that the processing routine here completely overpowered the weak and lengthy story.
The continuation of the series Kiss Me Again: Pete-Kao was very successful. In my opinion, the change of director was beneficial. You just have to look below under the reviews of the director's other series listed here and not one of them is rated below average. In addition, I enjoyed everything with Slovak subtitles, the first three episodes from ŠK, which got stuck in the next translation, and from the 4th episode with subtitles from Natalyb, which were very good. The plot was not boring, "something" was constantly happening, perhaps only in the middle episodes I noticed two or three moments of slowing down, that's why I deduct two points from the rating. The cast was more mature, and especially very well acted. Pete (28 years old at the time of filming), whose eyes are a little squinty, which is not his disadvantage, but on the contrary cuteness, the shapely Kao (27), the pair Sun (26) - Mork (22) excellent, often even surpassing the main pair in the story. In my opinion, it wasn't too sweet, BL series have that "sweetness" in them, on the contrary, here Pete, Kao, Sun are former brawlers, and Mork would be beating his head until the middle of the series. I was also interested in the characters of the "pest" Nona (19) and Sun's brothers - Raina (22). The sound-music is excellent and the central motif with the violin part is excellent. Processing pro.
I'll be brief this time. Nice, pleasant, but just average. Thai solidity in the form of music and processing. Acting rather beginner (I think that Bank and Pon are rather better singers than actors), very young "owner" of the hotel.
Great series, nothing to add. Actually, this two is developing a little differently than I expected from the end of the first and the trailers and I was slightly disappointed by them, a masterful game of the creators with the audience! The rapid development of the story in the first half of episode two was unbelievable, so I was a little surprised by the last episode, which seemed to completely "slow down", but that's probably how the creators wanted it. For that and the fact that the secondary couples were not portrayed sufficiently in the film (especially Zhe Yu and Bing Wei) and neither was the relationship with the father (and what about the blonde with the child in the park), I deduct a point for the story, otherwise everything is a full ten. In addition to the excellent acting and processing, I would like to stop at the sound and music. The creators really played around, the central theme of the songs quietly flowed into the scenes, which it colored beautifully, interestingly through keyboards, piano, cello and other instruments. Satisfaction. Definitely don't jump into this series unless you've seen #1.
The film is an adaptation of the manga of the same name by the author Hideyoshico, for which she won several awards at the Chil Chil BL Awards 2012. For me, it's a perfectly fine Japanese-edited film, sophisticated, well-paced and excellently acted by both main protagonists. Even to the point that I really believed Momose that even though it's his first love, he acts like a proper seme and tried to almost "rape" Yashiro according to the yaoi without ever doing it and it came from inside the character without that he could somehow influence it. A very good episode indeed, in which, surprisingly, this time I was disturbed a bit by the music, which was not to my taste, to underline the emotionally correct scenes.
The Japanese series continues with the third film, where the first clouds form between the Takumi - Gii duo. But I still confirm that this series is not for everyone and requires an open mind and that the rules set in the first part are followed here. It is still a fragile Japanese product, where the processing and sound (music) were nice, the reviewer in front of me is apparently deaf and the main motto is love between two boys. But ... in addition to the shonen-ai motifs from this third volume to the last, there is already a yaoi motif, albeit to a limited extent ... In the third year of school, Takumi is no longer accommodated with his love Gia. After returning from the US, he has changed, including his appearance, and is appointed the head of the student dormitory on the third floor. Gii becomes cold towards others, but also towards Takumi, He even suggests that they stop seeing each other for a while. Takumi's contact phobia is back in full force...
Kaido Kohei, a former competitive swimmer (actually actor Nakamura Joe, who looks absolutely perfect at 45) lives an ordinary life with his wife and daughter until the daughter is about to graduate and the wife decides to divorce him. Kaido meets Yutaka, a young man with whom he temporarily lives. The two worlds of a retired elderly swimmer, living a peaceful straight life until now, and a young gay man who wants to live his own life meet here. Nicely acted, the story creaked a little for me in how the two completely different people were still looking for a way to each other, the processing is excellent and I can only recommend it to those who don't mind Japanese films...
Another of the series is a solid average in Thai wave from a school environment. The creators dreamed of a rich and smart nerd named Pai, whose parents own a hospital, has a maid, a driver in the latest type of Mercedes and his mother has just withdrawn him from his studies in England, and Itto, a poorer student who does not give much to his studies and experiences a tragedy in his family. The story is almost traditional, the acting was influenced by the behavior of the characters, in my opinion the character of the shouted Pai (24-year-old actor Win Pawin) was best played, Itt was not so convincing (18-year-old Marc Pahun), the others were just average, I was interested in the characters of Waana and Pure- him. The music is good, sometimes the pianos and artificial stretching were too much (in a few scenes the behavior of the characters seemed to me like two yo-yos) and an excellent main song, the processing is traditionally decent (i.e. even slightly slowed down).
Even for me it was a little rest, undemanding and very pleasant, it was good to watch and listen to. I recommend it for relaxation, a pleasant main song and when two young men find their way to each other .
Straight man Mob finds himself in a fantasy (?) BL world and thus begins his story. It seems to me, at least, that the world of Japanese manga has been "over-managed" and the film didn't capture my heart as it should, because it couldn't, because everything here is reversed, and that's why it also captured my heart "in reverse". Mob "fights" against the BL world in a fresh, sometimes gloomy way, with insight and wit. Great acting by the lead (Inukai Atsuhiro). Maybe it seems a bit like a caricature, a parody, and I expected a completely different ending, but how else should it turn out in that crazy Japanese premango world. It's just that Mob was "infected". Professionally shot and produced anyway.
