For me, it's not a movie called Balloon Landing, but it will always be Bay of the Vanishing Whales, and when I watched it for the first time, only the second half of the film made everything clear, and then when I watch the project for the second time, I perceive everything from a different angle. The Japanese film Dangerous Drugs of Sex, where there are explicit sex scenes, is completely different, like this fantasy film with only one random kiss, where everything is on the level of the inner character and the viewer, but still both films have something in common ... first they save each other, so that in the end the second one saves the first one. For some viewers, and they write about it on world servers, it's not BL just because they don't fuck and there are no bed scenes, for me and many others it's a deep and inner film about two wounded beings and hidden homosexuality (I don't see it only as a bromance), because love has many forms and it's practically on the same wavelength as the Taiwanese project The On1y One, where there's also no physical contact. Excellent acting, beautiful scenery of southern Taiwan and modern Hong Kong, a handkerchief at the end and I will return to the film... and an amazing fresh spark in the form of actor Fandy Fan and a great performance by Hong Konger Terrance Lau. A beautiful inner experience.

On the other hand, I have to admit that it's not just a school-superficial series, where they only walk in the corridors in knee socks and the characters are simple in terms of character, type. Here both main characters are extremely complex in depth. Tian cannot know himself, and not only because of a not very pleasant childhood, he is strongly divided in his soul, something weighs on him and troubles him a lot since he met Wang, while Wang acts suddenly, he is done with everything immediately, sometimes moody, impetuous, unpredictable, I even think that his actions often hurt Tiana internally, and in the end I have to say that both actors play these layered characters very well and I'm glad they chose them. And what completely shocks me in the good sense of the word, and many viewers are unnecessarily upset by it, is that what usually starts in the first episodes of other series, here, with the most beautiful feeling in the world, the creators and actors play so gently and humbly , that we don't get to know him through Wang almost until the end of the first series. And the second season ... it will be a jump from 2012 to 2024 (?)

This time my review will be a bit longer, but those who know me and write to me many times on gaytitulky.info, where the series is translated into CZ, will surely forgive me.
This is one of those really good mystery series connected with the Thai branch of Buddhism, it surprised me because after the first episode I had no idea what would happen next, because the original described plot took place in the first episode and I didn't like the main characters either. Apparently, the same process took place inside me while watching, as with many viewers, because the increase in ratings from the first episodes to the end is not typical, it usually decreases (IMDb from 7.2 to 8.3 and MDL from 8.0 to 8.5) and I found my way to two the main performers and I started to like them a lot, both as characters and as actors. Well, if I look at San (Daou), how he looks at MDL in civilian clothes, maybe it's not him either, I don't want that! 🤣 I've gotten used to it and I love the look of the "old man" with old-fashioned clothes and short pants, the creators did a good job with that. Not to mention Ponda (Third), I already love this little girl from the 180 Degree series ... And even the great-great-granddaughter Ju was really great, one of the few "normal" female characters in BL projects, otherwise we mostly meet scumbags, extra bushes, or is the character scared, affected or annoying. All of them, including Ton and Tao, convinced me that in the end I gave the acting performances not a nine, which I originally thought, but a ten, despite the slightly grinning "rat" Rat. The overall concept, the story, the actors, the music, all of this completely prevailed in my assessment, and this is not affected even by the not completely 100% processing, which can be partially excused by the fact that the creators had to fit into a very limited budget (battles, shooting games and red marmalade or raspberry juice, treadmill, etc. and at the climax of the last episode we had to watch Tao brushing his teeth with superpaste). But what I can't forgive, and it shouldn't affect the budget, and many viewers will forgive even this under the overall impression, are the two Asian "falls" in the first part and in the last one, when Wat holds the stone in his pretty feminine fingers and in the close-up in the shot, it is held by a man's fingers (apparently this omitted scene was recorded by directors Wo and MI themselves), I thought they were going to limit me, I've already seen it in some other series, I'd kick someone from the crew for that, and I'm reducing it by two whole rating points for processing. 1010108

It's so different, and I just needed the story, to get rid of those familiar patterns where two people meet, start to like each other (or even hate each other at first) and before the end there is regularly a big fallout, a breakup, an artificial betrayal, so that in the end the fairy tale turned out well and the viewer was satisfied. There was nothing like that here, it was pleasant, and what if the whole bunch of handsome entertainers, including the DJ, were gay, but it's a BL project, all over twenty and supplemented by two thirty-year-old muscle men, and the BL trio was the cherry on top. Shogun and First played excellently even the more titillating scenes, and I want to underline the exceptional otherness of this part with the evaluation, which I will definitely come back to... 10101010

The three-bar soliloquy went by as quickly as a breeze, refreshing me with its delicacy and fragile message of how many hundreds of forms love and friendship between two human beings have. Again (for the umpteenth time already) I hear such original deep voices, assigned to almost all Koreans from above, and speech so different from China, while Korea grows out of it like a blind intestine. Two boys with carefully combed hair in their eyes and after watching the feeling of something very pleasant, pleasing to my soul.

Overall, an above-average project, filmed according to a real event, a slightly weaker script. You could tell the economical processing (or is it Oxinfilms' style already?), so most of the scenes are just static without much use and camera movements. For me, it was the actors who pulled it to a higher rating due to their appearance (only the young and younger actors and actresses, older ones, e.g. parents, were convulsive, including the director himself). This is the most cute thing about the entire series, this time I mean the character of the trans girl Georgie, who, although she still had a deep voice, looked elegant like a woman and she didn't get used to me at all, she didn't smirk or pout, just a pleasant character. And the two fawns Daryll and Orly don't lie as actors, like 95% of the other actors in BL, because they belong together in life as well! And they sure did. It will be very pleasant to watch the project especially for those who like handsome young men.

I appreciate that the creators tried to balance so many themes such as unit training, crime, corruption, first love and BL romance with fairytale fantasy and the supernatural. But those topics were too much for me. Therefore, from my point of view, I cannot give the story the highest mark, I was very satisfied with everything else, the music in the last part is great ...

BL series have only been around for a few years and their biggest boom was after covid and many think that before that it was almost the dark ages of BL in Asia. This is not the case, and this film, as well as several others, only proves it. I started watching the series, I liked it, but it gradually went downhill. I'm not hiding anything and I'm telling you that I lasted until the end only and mainly because of Dew's immense sympathy for me. I also have to appreciate the erotic scenes here as in Pit Babe, almost perfect kisses. I didn't really like the choice of actors except for Dew (even Tora, nothing against it, but sometimes he just seemed to me as if he had parents from Mongolia), because I'm "afflicted" by liking the beautiful actors from Pit Babe, except maybe Ryan (Dream) as if they were picked up somewhere on the street and the four virgins? I understand that they had to play it that way, but often it was just four horrible grinning faces. As an actor, practically everyone was up to par. I was still waiting to see if it would somehow develop more in later episodes, but it didn't, on the contrary, stretching, flaws in the processing (alternating bleached-grown-ungrown hair, nails, they both lie in bed "naked", then one climbs out and has not only trencle, but on top of that, sweatpants, etc.) and own episodes that are shorter and shorter added "behind the scenes". The last scenes are very touching and in connection with the family drama and despite the sometimes a bit lengthy shots and sometimes a minor touch of processing, it still leads me to the conclusion that this is one of the best Thai films of those years.
