Read the novel and had an idea of what to expect. The characters in the webnovel were not well written. The drama is a simple, but long drawn out romcom. It wasn't complicated or full of angst.

You are actually correct though, if Bailu wasn't in it, this type of drama would not even be on my Plan to Watch list. I like seeing her range.

He's incredibly talented at such a young age and is just so likable. Wishing him lots of success and happiness in his career.

I kept waiting for an adult or authorities to intervene or actual justice to be served, but there was just bullying after bullying and eventually the bullies were beaten... no resolution. just ass kicking. Not that it wasn't satisfying watching them get what they deserved, but there was actually no proper ending.

Exactly, it's a simple watch and the leads are fun to watch. Love it so much more than the novel. If I didn't read the novel and know what to expect, I'd probably be a bit more critical and frustrated by the story.

This was more obvious in the novel than the drama. Like, her main purpose/reason for approaching and trying to hook up with Shi Yan was that she thought he was the mistress' uncle. Here though, she wanted to get his interview, then use his ties to develop an online platform for their finance company. When her ex approached her assuming that she was having an affair w/the mistress' chubby little boss who is married in episode 22, she then started worrying that Shi Yan would think that was why she approached him. So the issue is vague and dragged on a bit and not helped by her BFF giving her bad love advice.

Reminds me of when someone can "hear" what is being said from across the street, behind closed doors, or on the other side of a glass window of a cafe (in dramaland)... while I'm over here having trouble hearing what someone's saying right next to me.

One thing that cracks me up is how loud everyone talks over the phone so whoever is nearby can hear the conversation..

Not yet disclosed and even scummy ex is unaware. The "mistress" told him her uncle worked for Shi Yan's company, but wasn't specific about his role as being the chauffeur. ...maybe the ex really can get a job as a driver...

I'm just taking a stab here and guessing their style of dressing is tied in with their conservative line of work (finance). While I'm not a fan of tweed and Lagerfeld, I do like some of the ruffled collar/bow blouses. That red dress she wore in episode 10 sold out quickly after the design house promoted it from the drama.

Not to be confused with the non-toxic Bailu/Luo Yunxi shippers who enjoy and respect both artists and the productions they're a part of. And agree with the original poster, this is a different drama altogether. The actors are doing exceptionally well in their roles and portraying the characters better than how 2-dimensional they are in the novel (in my opinion).

For the fandoms, Bailu and Didi are good friends. I hope we can support them in a positive way.

In episode 6, Shu Yi is still unaware she's (her intern assistant) Shi Yan's niece. The "mistress" who is messing around with her ex is not related to Shi Yan, but is his driver's niece... which is why she's seen getting into that vehicle early on...hence the misunderstanding along with the "Qin" surname.

In the novel, his character was a blind date set up by the Shu Yi's mother. They agreed to be friends and pretend to be in a relationship to get their parents off their back; however, Shi Yan's niece develops feelings for him and they get together. I don't know if the drama will follow any part of that latter part of the plot, but the relationship is different already.

I'm enjoying the drama more than the book in how the characters are portrayed. Also like the sets of the homes and Shi Yan's highrise office. Bailu plays the FL in a more light-hearted and endearing way while in the novel the character was more obnoxious and cringe-worthy desperate. Didi's Shi Yan is less cold and it's nice to see his facial expressions (when he's happy/amused). It's good to see him a more mature role. Glad everyone is using their own voices and not dubs, too.

I think the demographics of the viewers for this one would likely be younger, so the business and finance discussions would not appeal to the majority, especially if it isn't their line of work/study. I remember reading similar posts for "Love Is Sweet" during the acquisitions and business discussions, but the production would play loud background music to keep the viewers awake or to provide a certain feeling for the situation/scene.

Something about her that is so likable. I guess that's why she's plays the BFF roles. Enjoying watching her w/Bailu in Only For Love, right now. I remember they bumped into an awards event earlier this year (Zhang Wanyi in the background) and exchanged friend hellos.

I'm not familiar with her disease, but you're right and that just made it more sad T_T

If it follows the novel and she passes away and he's left with their child. Youku's social media had posted that she does die, but I don't know if that's at the very end or not.
