I can't seem to arrange my thoughts about Episode 6. Instead, here's my Revenged Love [is a game!] scoreboard update and official partial tally of scores:
Verdict: Chi Cheng and Suo Wei's love line is MESSY AAHHHH. The way they're just juggling and sharing a point is giving, "We're both winning AND losing." This dynamic, the way I see it, is one of the key ingredients to a strong relationship when they're finally together. But, is there a high chance of that happening? Uhm, zero says maybe. I guess? We can only hope. On to our second couple, Xiao Shuai has the upper hand. Cheng Yu is whipped. Love at first sight has led him to command his company to create a gourmet department so he could take Shuai on food dates. Cheng Yu, if you keep this up, you might as well make Shuai CEO or marry him already!
(P.S. My personal score criteria are simple: One character gains a point IF and only if they give me the impression that they've won throughout the episode by the end of the episode. Otherwise, they lose a point. Zero, no deduction or addition, is for a character who hasn't done much or had little to no screentime, therefore warranting a "no participation" label. This is subject to change at any time without prior notice.)
Yes. I believe it's part of their promotional marketing strategy to release four episodes on the first week. They are free-to-watch, but the following episodes require viewers to subscribe. Personally, I think this is a great way of promoting the series and ensuring that the production earns enough to continue serving us with great shows.
My daily routine : Think of them, watch edits of them, wait for the next episodesThis can't be healthy 😭
Revenged Love is my Roman Empire. A happy Suo Wei is my daily dose of serotonin, prescribed for me to take. Horny Chi Cheng reminds me of the importance of self-control. This show is a sweet treat. You don't need it in massive amounts--that would be detrimental. Twice a week is enough to boost your mood. The fact that episodes are released every Monday and Tuesday is perfect for me to stay motivated and fueled to be productive on the following days. Obsession surely isn't healthy, just as anything in unnecessarily large doses. I'm practicing self-discipline so I can continue to enjoy this masterpiece.
Debating continuing or waiting for it to finish. The first 4 episodes were so good. If China starts doing more…
Omg another birthday twin! Debating with yourself is so relatable. In contrast to you, I might be busy with college during our birthday week so, I've given myself the treat of watching this beautiful series every Monday and Tuesday evening.
I think my favourite part of today's episode was that there were no snakes 😁... I know they're a big part of…
I was honestly scared to death when I first saw a snake in real life. Although, seeing them on-screen isn't giving me the creeps. What I have gathered from snake lovers is that they can seem as cute as cats, provided that they don't try to kill you. Well, cats do try to kill their owners from time to time, so I guess that's a similarity. Would I wanna have a pet snake? Not in this lifetime, no. But I do love Little Jealousy. This snake has good taste. He surely approves of Da Bao/Suo Wei for his master and is disgusted by the gold digger.
Interestingly, this Chinese drama features kisses. That's very unusual.
NOH SHIN WOOOOO!!!! Okay. Wait. I love this character from Light On Me so much that I just couldn't help but gasp seeing a comment that's quite in-character??? I agree, Shin Woo-ah. Kisses between two males in a Chinese setting? Truly a sight to behold. The good news? We'll get to see more. How??? Well, the production team is effectively using a loophole. No further details. Enjoy watching!

LOVE IS A GAME. Said Chi Cheng, Suo Wei, Cheng Yu, and Xiao Shuai. Episode 5 has cemented Revenged Love as my ultimate comfort Chinese BL series. Today wasn't the best for me. It was tiresome, and my legs are sore. But after watching this episode, I felt so happy. I was giggling throughout this light watch. Key things I noticed and loved:
1. Suo Wei's filial duty. This mama's boy is too pure. He knows just how hard his mother worked to raise him well. Giving back her efforts tenfold is Suo Wei's great goal.
2. Chi Cheng's compassion. His expression when he found out about Suo Wei's absent father said it all. He may be spoiled rich, but he isn't ice cold to the core. Chi Cheng empathized with his future boyfriend's family.
3. Suo Wei's gradual realization. This. This takes it home. The way it's happening is so subtle, you really have to pay attention to catch it. The way he stared at Chi Cheng while he was drying his hair? The moment Suo Wei submitted to the sly snake master's "blackmail" and enjoyed that kiss in the middle of the corn field? The look on this poor yet hardworking man's face while watching Chi Cheng enjoy a spicy hot pot, remembering it was never good enough for his ex? EVERYTHING IS JUST ADDING UP SO NATURALLY. No AHA! moments. We've had enough of those. We NEED this slow-burning build-up. It's what allows us, viewers, to connect with the characters on a deeper, more personal level. It is also a foreshadowing of how much we will cry when we're already so attached to them. ARRGHHH!!! I am loving this very much.
4. Chi Cheng's controlled lust. I know this might come across as HIGHLY opinionated to some. Well, it is. How can I say someone who's been nothing but physically affectionate WITHOUT consent has controlled lust??? Let's take the scene when Chi Cheng caught Suo Wei "watching" porn, for example. If Wei's mom did not call for them to have dinner, could Cheng have pushed through with the "practice"? Yes. He COULD. But watching the scene again, I saw how this man wasn't using 100% of his strength to overpower the stick of a man who is Suo Wei. We may not see Chi Cheng working out, but his physique is no joke. He can AND will fight for his love, even without weapons, and win. That's not to say he's unbelievably strong. No. My point is, Chi Cheng is not even TRYING to use at least half of his strength when handling Suo Wei. If he were, I'd have to bid farewell to the poor guy. He'd already be in a casket. Suo Wei needs to work out if he wants to defend himself. For real. Then again, the scene where Chi Cheng dragged a seductive Suo Wei out of the restaurant and pinned him to his car showed two things: the former wasn't being too rough, and the latter was complacent. This is when Chi Cheng finally snaps with the question, "What exactly do you want?" Which brings me to my fifth key takeaway.
5. Suo Wei: The Flimsy Mastermind. It seems he both thinks he has and doesn't have Chi Cheng wrapped around his fingers. The way he tries so hard to push, offering himself, then pulls back out when Chi Cheng bites, isn't exactly the manipulative tactic called "Bait and Switch" in its optimum. Suo Wei still lacks the bulletproof self-esteem to execute this strategy properly. BUT when he answered Chi Cheng with, "You're not my boyfriend." BAM! I was like, "THERE IT IS!" while pointing at the screen, my face beaming with pride. A slow clap was necessary. Chi Cheng was at a loss for words. Suo Wei played that card too well. And yet, the snake lover didn't seem to think of breaking up with a girl he's only using to shut his parents up. Why? One, and probably the most reasonable, answer is that he still hasn't retrieved his snakes. Chi Cheng knows his father is hard to please. Bringing home a "girlfriend" isn't the key to getting his snakes back, but it's a stepping stone. He needs to build rapport and gain his father's trust. THE SNAKES MUST COME BACK TO DADDY CHENG. So... until this goal is met, Yue Yue, the gold digger, stays.
I think that's about all I have to say for this episode. Is it too obvious that I'm excited for Episode 6? If not, then, I FLIPPIN AAAMMMM!!! THAT CLIFF HANGER IS SO BAD THAT IT'S GOOD. I must now wait. Patience is a virtue. I shall be virtuous.
Ok... Calm down people. Let me put this into perspective for you. It's going to be a long read. This Drama is…
Thank you so much for taking the time to fill in people like me, who are so unaware of the lore, with necessary information. I am quite relieved after reading this. Claiming Revenged Love as my newest C-BL obsession!
Quarterly Tally (Episodes 1-6)
