Are they releasing the uncut versions with NCs after they finish airing the episodes??
I'd like to think there's at least a slim chance of that probability. But I won't get my hopes up. I'm quite satisfied with how they've included just as much as necessary for the plot's and viewership's sake.
This series is too keen with the little details that I CANNOT even begin to list my top 5 favorites. They're also just so subtle, yet the impact can match the grand gestures. Revenged Love is maximizing the tiniest of building blocks to serve a solid story, with micro-expressions, body language, tone of voice, and line delivery. I live for yearning glances, soft kisses, and gentle caresses. Believe me, I could write up a whole essay thoroughly explaining how these details make the series effectively captivating, but this is me trying to be concise, short, and sweet.
What does ranked#98 mean? Is it the rating of all shows on mdl or?
From what I understand about MDL's rating system, ranking #98 is combined popularity and average rating. I cannot find a list where we can see exactly what category Revenged Love is placed within the top 100. But it is safe to say that it's currently the highest ranked ongoing series. You can check in the EXPLORE tab and toggle the "Ongoing" tag/filter in the advanced search.
With a rating still at a whopping 8.9/10 AND sitting pretty at #98, Revenged Love is building its momentum and…
Wait a DAMN minute. Why is no one talking about the fight scene with Chi Cheng, Cheng Yu, and the whole gang trying to retrieve the snakes?! It should have a fandom of its own. I am now its founder. Gotta need your suggestions on the fandom name lol
Kidding aside, I felt a different kind of exhilaration watching CC and CGY fight, first the men CC's father hired and then each other. I personally liked how the fight was choreographed to showcase the two frenemies' strength. It did not seem over-the-top, but it had enough action to heighten the scene. When GCY pushed CC, making him climb the side of the truck and perform a backflip to escape, it looked so cool. But, after rewatching the scene, it felt like it was too choreographed. I mean, why was GCY even trying to fight CC? And CC always stopped before giving GCY a direct, strong hit?? My initial theory was that GCY is just showing off. He finds pleasure, or at least enjoys feeling like an action star. It could also be that GCY's motive is out of pure pettiness. He might just want CC to see that he can match his level, having been outshone in the scene with the snake fight. I find this mildly unreasonable, but it did give us an exciting and fierce action montage that exhibited CC's strength, agility, and tolerance of GCY's antics. They are friends after all.
TL;DR
Chi Cheng is one strong, agile, hot snake daddy. I would dare not get in his way. Wu Suo Wei will have no trouble with the gang fights or any threats to his safety, for that matter.
With a rating still at a whopping 8.9/10 AND sitting pretty at #98, Revenged Love is building its momentum and captivating our hearts! I am confident that this series will continue to soar the ranks and amass an incredible viewership. My excitement can barely contain itself. I am so happy to be here.
Thank you for writing down your thoughts! I love to read other fans interpretation, thought process of the series,…
For me, Revenged Love's unusual story has always been about challenging the norm. So, we can't really compare to what we deem as conventional or morally correct. I understand why this may frustrate fans, as I too have felt this way with other series. What makes my reaction to RL vastly different is how it presents itself as unapologetically in its own league. Like, no, I would politely disagree to anyone who may tell me that this story is typical and common. I cannot find, as of writing, any other BL series that can match Revenged Love's freak. Hence, I tried not to focus too much on real life examples to analyze how WSW is acting on his identity crisis. Despite how ridiculous the story may get, it's still somehow grounded with a rational anchor to at the very least maintain a level of credibility. What I mean by this is that a lot of us may love a development that keeps us on the edge of our seats, but I personally cannot tolerate when writers use a plot device out of the blue just for the sake of catalyzing the story, compromising their ability to keep our trust. Seldom do I ever "trust the process" when it comes to continuing a series that might just have bombed itself. That's another topic for discussion. I can get really carried away when analyzing a BL series I am obsessed with.
So does Chi Cheng just go around and SA men all willy nilly? He really wouldn't do that to Jiang, right? I understand…
No. CC has actively toned down his hypersexual habits. It was only implicitly brushed over from the start anyways. He is most likely just pushing to make JXS help with winning WSW completely over.
Okay, and?... is NOT the best way to respond. Before I go on with this analysis, I encourage you to understand that gender identity and sexuality are complex. I identify as a homosexual man. Yes, I am attracted to the same sex. In particular, my type can fluctuate from the common masculine macho to the uniquely effeminate male. Now, why am I yapping about my preference? I am indeed not Wu Suo Wei. It is indisputable that this fictional character is in no way related to me. Despite that fact, I can understand why Suo Wei is currently dealing with the dilemma of being in love with another man.
Straight to gay. How does it happen? Based on my personal experience, having been straight only until I was in junior high school, it's not crystal clear exactly HOW it happened. I just know that I had growing feelings for a male classmate who exhibited traits I found attractive in a girl before I met him. His confidence had both a masculine and feminine aura, which made me even more fascinated by how he carried himself. At the time, I also felt aroused when men exuded appeal and charm. With those mentioned, let's dive into two main subjects of attraction: physical and mental attributes.
Physical appearance. Does Wu Suo Wei have a type like many of us? It is not made clear in the story. I believe it's safe to assume that our Da Bao had Yue Yue as his first (and most likely last) girlfriend. We gotta give it to her; she is gorgeous. If only she weren't a gold digger and social climber, Yue Yue could have captured the heart of a true gentleman. It's possible that Suo Wei saw her outside beauty and was quick to mistake her for an angel. Yue Yue insinuated that Suo Wei had let go of himself, causing her to fall out of love. So, Yue Yue is particular about looks AND financial status. On the other hand, Suo Wei couldn't wrap his head around the fact that he was dumped. Remember when he did not believe what Xiao Shuai told him when they first met at the clinic. He was in denial. He could not fathom that an "angel" like Yue Yue was capable of discriminating against him.
Verdict: Wu Suo Wei does not prioritize looks over personality. Yes, Chi Cheng is hot. But we have yet to witness our Da Bao fawn over snake daddy like how we drool when we see Chi Cheng flex some skin. I also acknowledge that Suo Wei has admitted that he finds Chi Cheng handsome. But what about the body that has manhandled him on numerous occasions? Does WSW not want to accept that CC is hot because he refuses the idea of being the "bottom" in the relationship? Or is it that WSW has yet to develop that physical attraction? We cannot forget that WSW has fantasized about CC. Missing him is one thing, wanting to sleep with him is another. Then we get "This is my first time falling for a man." UH. Hello??? That was not an internal monologue. He actually uttered this while watching CC fight. WSW could have said CC looked cool throwing punches and beating up those thugs. BUT NAUR! He's falling for a madman! Adding the truth of the matter: WSW does not see other men as attractive. We can entertain the possibility that he is pansexual, but that calls for a separate discussion.
Personality, or as I'd like to call it, mental capacity. We cannot deny the fact that both Wu Suo Wei and Chi Cheng are smart. As part of his plan to get close to CC, WSW went to great lengths to study subjects he had little to no interest in. This strikes me as WSW is acknowledging that CC isn't just some rich, hypersexual snake lover, but a clever man who can confidently and thoroughly discuss a topic if he wants to. Most probably, WSW admires that CC's plan to retrieve his snakes was well-thought-out (just not maximized due to unexpected circumstances). The way WSW and CC's strategies coincide and complement each other testifies to their compatibility when it comes to mentality. This is enforced by the successful start of their company, Fearless Art Installation Ltd. Okay, so Chi Cheng is smart, but is he also kind? Yes. We've seen it time and again how compassionate he can be with Wu Suo Wei. He understands how important a few people are to WSW, hence the polite, courteous behavior around WSW's mom, and the toned-down, almost playful, intimidating act with JXS. WSW definitely finds this attractive, along with how CC has shown his genuine care for him. Furthermore, WSW feels safe whenever CC assures him with not just empty words, but actions that match. Safety and security are something we naturally crave as humans. May it be physical and mental well-being or material and financial stability, we strive to find ways to sustain our basic needs. As someone adept in business, Wu Suo Wei understands the importance of having a partner he can fully trust and rely on. Chi Cheng is that partner. But, as WSW struggles with defining his sexuality, he might as well bid farewell to their company's stability.
Now, WHY THE DILEMMA? Internalized homophobia could be one factor. However, it seems the story is leaning more toward this, heteronormative social standards seem to be the case. How so? WSW told JXS he intends to marry a woman and create a family. That is most likely what his mom also wants for him. Despite challenging the status quo by venturing into various unrelated businesses to appease a man before founding his own art installation company with that same man, Wu Suo Wei has yet to transcend from a mindset that no longer fits his circumstances. Change is inevitable. It can also be scary. WSW might be weighing the pros and cons of being with CC. If we take into account the very reason why WSW approached CC, and CC's ability to destroy anyone who dares to mess with him, WSW should be scared shitless. The fact that he already admitted he has feelings for CC speaks of a different underlying issue. A fundamental part of any relationship: mutual trust. This is what's at stake now that we're past the missing snakes and revenge on ex arcs. Can Wu Suo Wei trust that Chi Cheng won't go back on his words? More importantly, will WSW ever find confidence in what he feels, no matter how irrational?
I am excited to know that most of these questions will be answered in the upcoming episodes. See you all next week! (If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read. I appreciate anyone who may agree or disagree with my thoughts. Feel free to reply so we can discuss this fascinating topic further.)
Revenged Love is STILL A GAME. Not entirely surprised, but with how episode 10 ended, I think we're in for a longer play of hard-to-get. It really feels like the episodes are running shorter because of how the pace is keeping up. We resolved two main issues within this week's episodes; Chi Cheng's snakes and Suo Wei's revenge against Yue Yue. Both were satisfying, but I especially like seeing Yue Yue slapped with the cold hard truth that she will never live a luxurious life--not on Da Bao's watch. I am quite amused with how Suo Wei is dealing with being "bent". A more thorough analysis on a separate comment/thread soon. Anyway, just here to update the scoreboard for both episodes;
Episode 9 Chi Cheng | 1 Suo Wei | 1 Cheng Yu | 0 Xiao Shuai | 0
Episode 10 Chi Cheng | 1 Suo Wei | 1 Cheng Yu | 0 Xiao Shuai | -1
Quarterly Tally coming up next week! By then, we'll be HALFWAY through Revenged Love. Oh, gosh, that made me feel bittersweet. I fear Chi Cheng's ex arc is approaching. But I'm gonna savor these beautiful pair of episodes while waiting. Chai Jidan was definitely not joking when she said Episode 9 is when it gets BETTER. She is serving us so well. Let her cook!!!
12 hours left!!! Let's burn a bit of time by analyzing why Revenged Love's airing schedule is peak mind captivating…
TL;DR
Mondays and Tuesdays can be both mentally and physically draining. Airing Revenged Love during these tiring days provides its audience with a refreshing watch during downtime. The serotonin boost this show gives can help with getting through the week--Wednesday to Sunday when we can keep rewatching and savouring every detail. We keep coming back for more because a lot of us crave the happy hormones Revenged Love serves us.
12 hours left!!! Let's burn a bit of time by analyzing why Revenged Love's airing schedule is peak mind captivating strategy:
Mondays. A vast majority of us hates this day. It's the official start of the week for most people, whether they're a student, employee, business owner, or just about anyone who has set things to accomplish before the weekend. I honestly DREAD Mondays. As a college student, this day almost always drained me because of the fully-packed schedule of lectures. I find myself mentally exhausted by the end of classes. Mondays never fail to make me yearn for the weekends that just flew right by.
Tuesdays, for me, are just a bit less of a pain compared to Mondays. It's when I usually lock in after realizing that the week indeed already started and I have lots to do. Tuesdays tend to slap me in the face with "You got past Monday, bish. You'll do just fine today. By tomorrow, already HALF the week is done. Be patient. Keep going." Would I still be exhausted when night comes? Of course. Tuesdays are commonly just one class less of a busy a Monday, at least that's my case.
Alas. Revenged Love came and knocked on my door. I consider it a pleasantly unexpected guest. When I let Revenged Love into my life, Mondays and Tuesdays never looked the same. I constantly find myself yearning for Monday, thinking the weekends felt too long or slow. Classes no longer bore me as I condition myself with "BISH! Lecture now, Revenged Love later. Participate and do well so you can watch Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei GUILT-FREE!" It works like a charm. I noticed how active I've gotten, and I feel more accomplished every time I ace a quiz. Indeed, Tuesday got even better too. Watching Revenged Love has changed me, for good.
HELPPPP TS IS TOO ACCURATE!!! Jang Jae Yeong and Lettuce (Choo Sang Woo) are indeed my parents ever since I watched Semantic Error. Unfortunately for me, I have had to fend for myself for three years and counting. I am starved. Every year I am met with the same disappointment brought by the fact that there will be no SE S2. I am crying. But this gave me a good chuckle. Thank you for making this!
Seriously, his youthful energy—that bright, optimistic spirit and relentless drive—it’s just so contagious!
Undeniably true! I find myself so motivated to also pursue my own dreams whenever I think of Zi Yu. His perseverance is finally paying off. Good things indeed come to good people. Great things happen to those who push to become greater.
I appreciate this effort. I'd like for you to include my short message, please and thank you."Tian Xuning, we…
No, thank you. It's enough for me to know that we can at least try to send him our love, no matter how small or simple the act may seem. Have a great day, you amazing person!
I know I would have cried watching Zi Yu's Birthday Live on Weibo. Tears already formed just by looking at the pictures people shared on FB. Some photos showed an emotional Zi Yu who, I can only imagine, is overwhelmed by the support he's receiving. All I can think of is, baby, you deserve this AND so much more! With all the hardships you went through, good karma has finally come around to bring you gifts. It's truly gratifying to see a genuinely great person's life get better. I know his mother is so proud of him. I know I, and a lot of his fans are. We are going to support this budding actor in many ways, no matter how small. Zi Yu's popularity will only soar higher!
Kidding aside, I felt a different kind of exhilaration watching CC and CGY fight, first the men CC's father hired and then each other.
