Title La Pluie
What happened to this series? It was always a bit lazy, but it's degenerated into something written by a spoiled brat 12-year old. A few observations:

- Regarding gaslighting, Patts was doing that, not Tai. "You're the one imagining things." What? Tai was imagining that Patts would have a bad reaction to him talking to Lomfon and he was 100% correct. As for Tai not saying anything, do you blame him? He just saw Patts get absolutely psychotically violent. Sorry, but that is not a green-flag situation - Patts is a huge, massive red flag. Tai already chose Patts, and Patts won't believe him. It's a good think Lomfon's skin is made of titanium and being punched a dozen times with great force didn't even scratch him. This is problemmatic - not having any physical sign of being severely beaten is an attempt to excuse Patts. He should have severe damage and be in a hospital - that could easily have killed him.

- Is Bangkok only a few blocks across, or is it a city of 10 million spread over 8,000 sq km? Why are Patts' coworkers miraculously right there to take photos? Answer: because the author is lazy as f@#$ and couldn't bother to come up with a more realistic way for Patts to figure it out - like for example the soulmate-rain connection, or just knowing Tai really well and feeling something is off. But no, let's go with ridiculous coincidence.

- Why would Tai lie? Why even accept Lomfon's invitation to begin with? Answer: he wouldn't. But the author wanted the drama we got, so Tai had to act like a shit.

- In the conversation flashback between Patts and Lomfon, Patts tells Lomfon not to get involved with Tai, but we don't hear Lomfon's response, because the author is too incompetent to think of one, and what that was makes a huge difference and was absolutely essential- but whatever his answer was, it would make the drama impossible, so we got zilch. Again, lazy writing.

The only conversation in that episide that made 100% sense in terms of content and emotion was between Tien and Lomfon - it's like they're in a different and much better-written series.

- The actors are great and I love their comfort with intimacy, but the love scene was terribly directed. First of all, Patt's porn-scene shirt removal was embarassing (although what's under his shirt certainly isn't), and then it was full of flashbacks to previous intimate scenes! WTF? Why would you chop up and ruin something like this? (Also, treading tops and bottoms like two completely different genders is getting annoying. Just imagine if for their first time a man assumed a woman was going to take it doggy-style, or was expecting BJ-only).

-For all the Lomfon hate below, he's been 100% honest as opposed to lying to his bf or getting psychotically violent. He's immature and clueless, but has absolutely zero blame in this, except he shouldn't have kissed Tai - but Tai shouldn't have let him, so I rate that 10/90 Lomfon/Tai blame.

- I did like that the show didn't tread rain like radioactive waste that would give everyone near- fatal fevers. Also, all the acting was first-rate.

Both James Ramada and Daryll Rodriguez have really improved as actors. This episode was good except for the uninspired directing which makes the series a bit dull and plodding. At least there were no major technical problems.

I'm unfamiliarwith this story - what happened? Can you link me to it?
There are plenty of things to criticize about our culture - it's not self-righteous to point out that we have a more constructive attitude in this one regard. We also elect orange presidents, so there are some countervailing flaws.

Usually if a young American celebrity has a drug problem that comes to light, it does shift their career. You'll lose your position as a teen idol, maybe have a little trouble getting work because you can no longer be hired in your "lane", but you can still make a comeback, although probably only if you're talented, like in the case of Robert Downey Jr.

I may have a skewed view as a Californian, but the Hollywood culture has always been very hard on many actors - if you're not an extroverted narcissist, it can be torture - like for Montgomery Clift (speaking of beautiful men), and that was a long time ago.

I've seen Antique Bakery - he must have been the hot boxer. He's hotter now - but that's not surprising - I don't think men reach their peak until 25.

That is one of the best-looking men I've seen in a long time. It looks like he definitely has a problem he needs to deal with, but I think you're right, his career is essentially over. He might eventually recover, but then he'll be older and it's hard to break back in.

When I worked at Samsung, a peer launched into a tirade against me for no reason whatsoever in a meeting including a lot of VPs (I was invited to come participate halfway through the meeting as it was about my area of expertise, and I was asked about an idea which I explained would not work - the shouty guy had just spent 15 minutes promoting it, but I wasn't there for that - anyway, he was embarassed and went nuts). People afterwards all apologized on behalf of the entire country of Korea, but our boss couldn't do anything about it, because any discipline against the guy would put a black mark on his record which would ruin his career, and my boss would be damaged or ruined for not looking out for his people. That is an unforgiving culture.

I don't think anyone hates Yutaro - the general trend seems to be that he was out of his depth, and that's how…
He probably did - it's hard to tell because he character was written in such a shallow way.

I haven't seen the series yet, so I don't know if it was just a drug-related issue. But in the manga, it happens…
Aren't you contradiction your point by using Amber Heard? Nobody believed her and she's the one who suffered for making a false accusation. There is plenty of nuance in the US. Aziz Ansari was accused of sexual assault and the response was overwhelming rejection of the woman's claims. Unless you're a minor (which is a good reason not to touch them, BTW), you can't retroactively withhold consent like she apparently did.

I'm actually amazed at the lack of false accusation and how people are willing to look at the evidence. I thought it would be much worse.

The current generation seemns to find all physical contact trangressive.Teens kissing is problemmatic only if…
I gave a specific example - 15 & 25. 16 & 19 isn't the same. Thresholds are not silly, they're an imperfect necessity. A person under 18 is not legally independent and has both protections and limitations to what they can and can't do and for many things require parental consent to safeguard their well-being. No sytem is perfect.

Of course it's true that some 15-year olds can handle it, but many can't. If there isn't an arbitary age of adulthood, who gets to decide it's OK? The15-year old? The 25-year old? Minors don't have the experience and perspective that adults have and are much more vulnerable to coercion and less able to see other people's motivations. A 15-year old may think they can handle it, but what if they're wrong? That's why there are ages of consent (actually, the origin of age of consent legislation was to stop people from marrying off young girls, but whatever).

I certainly agree that there's nothingh wrong with actors simply acting in love scenes - if we've gotten to the point that not actually doing something is unacceptable we'e in trouble. Teens aren't going to rush out to have sex just because they saw it on a drama, just like they're not going to go out and shoot people because they watched KinnPorsche.

If you don't want to see depictions of underage sex, well, you can easily avoid it.

I was a bit shocked when Kazuma took his shirt off - he always wears oversized baggy shirts and I had no idea he had that smokin' body under there - I really liked that Ren was ogling him and commented on it.

I didn't care much for this the first two eps, but I really liked this one. I think I saw some people commending on the acting of the young versions - I thought it was good, and that was very realistic crying. Not everyone cries the same way, and that felt authentic to me.

This is much more emotionally complex than your average BL and touches on themes we don't see very often. I'm in!

Anybody know why episode 3 isn’t out yet on Viki? Isn’t it out of Thursdays?
I have both Viki and Gaga - it might not be necessary, but sometimes the subtitles on one are way better than the other, or one is late and the other isn't, etc.

I don't get all the comments about 15 year old actors kissing. Don't any of you watch American and European movies…
The current generation seemns to find all physical contact trangressive.

Teens kissing is problemmatic only if they are younger than 18 and with someone older.

A 15-year old and a 25-year old is not remotely the same thing as two 15-year olds. I don't think it would be appropriate to show two 15-year olds having full-on sex, but it's totally natural for post-pubscents to explore their sexuality. Heck, it's normal and natural for pre-pubescents to explore their sexuality. Did nobody play house or cops & robbers when they were kids?

I'm genuinely confused by the hate on this show. I actually really enjoyed it and looked forward to the next episode.…
I think the problem was the characters were shallow and their behavior didn't make emotional sense. In the final episode, why would Mahiro be upset that Souta wants to move to the village and open a cafe? He should have been on cloud nine. The only reason he was upset and tried to leave was so that they could throw in the restraining hug from behind cliche - it made no sense to the story, but I guess someone thought it was BL law to include it.

Also, instead of delving into the naked dining, the writer simply turned to extremely tired tropes like the Implausible Misunderstanding and the interfering girl. The reason why Souta dines naked might have been interesting to explore - but instead the female coworker chewed up several episodes with an unpleasant storyline.

I'd actually give it a 3/10, only for the nice cinematography.

I don't think anyone hates Yutaro - the general trend seems to be that he was out of his depth, and that's how I feel too. But that could still have worked if his character were written to make emotional sense.

Well, it's finally over and I really had no reason to finish it except watching Yutaro!Their chemistry was not…
That's interesting - I thought Yutaro's acting was dull and he had no charisma or charm. That's probably largely the terrible writing, but that old man in the last episode was only in it for a minute and he still stole the show.

When Mahiro tried to walk out again I was furious. That guy is a runner and a track star.
It made no emotional sense - it was solely so they could throw in the cliche of the from-behind restraining hug.

Semantic Error is really great. I say that not having read the manhwa, but the chemistry, story and kissing are…
It's still my favorite KBL. Well, maybe second after Choco Milk Shake, and now this series is in the running.

The acting in Semantic Error was excellent, and I agree, I felt the connection and appreciated the lack of hesitancy in their physical moments.

The hesitancy in this series was intentional due to Yechan's total lack of romantic experience and also very well acted - it was tentative while still being passioniate. I loved it.
