What happened? The first two eps were a lot of fun but this one was a bore with bad writing. The cast is exceptionally good, and Nouel & Boss are naturals, but what a waste. They pulled off a few cute moments, but it's not enough.
Example of bad writing: That was an incredibly clumsy way of introducing the photo - someone borrowing his phone and then asking about it, then commenting on what it means. Bad - one of the worst violations of "show don't tell" I've seen. All you needed was for that photo to have been emphasized earlier and then just show that he had it - the audience isn't stupid. And that scene in the bathroom where Rain is narrating what he's thinking and feeling. That's an insult to the actor - he's perfectly capable of acting it, and if necessary a short flashback can help - this is a visual medium, not a mediocre novel.
On a minor note, nobody has drawn a floorplan by hand in 20 years, but BL never gets jobs remotely right. Like a CEO making copies in Cutie Pie. I haven't even seen a paper document in years - all electronic. And who's cat did Tonnam run over to deserve this role?
Plus, now we're starting to load up on tropes, and in a predictable way. Was anyone not thinking "And hair drying scene in 3... 2... 1..."
I don't think I'm alone - the rating took a nose-dive from 8.3 to 8.0 - that's quite dramatic given there are 1,635 ratings.
The sound effects & music with the sausage eating. I know he's awful, but Danil is hot. All the awful guys in this are hot. Someone has to be, right? It's not fair for Khom to have to bear the whole burden.
Instead of wasting Khom's time having him investigate whether or not Kim was with De, there is an easier, faster way: Ask Kim.
So, 30 seconds of the most ridiculous assassination attempts in recorded history, 30 seconds of stoned tiger-feeding, 5 minutes of Danil vamping, and 40 minutes of watching people process paperwork. Sorry, 39.5 minutes - I forgot the 30 seconds of water wasting.
Other than the attempted murder and Danil's shower, this was a dull episode. This series needs to be unbelievably bad - if it's boring it has nothing. Yoon even managed to actually look angry for a couple of seconds in this. What gives?
Minato's characterization is quite strange for me. He's 27 or 28 but acts like a 40 yo as you said, but when it…
I think Shin behaves like he's older than Minato, which is why I think they're "cheating". Let's see the consequences of getting involved with someone that young, not sidestep it by making him a middle-aged man trapped in a teenager's body.
Hmm. Well, finally, the plot moved forward. I think maybe the problem for me is the actor playing Sakuma gives such a powerful performance that everything else fades into the background, and Minato & Shin have been so static for so long that I don't care anymore.
I also feel like the writing is trying to have it both ways. Shin is a high school student, and Minato is "nearly 30". If that's the story, that' fine - go for it. But instead Shin is written like a 40-year old, and it's too inauthentic and so I can't invest in him, and by doing that the unique element of the story is removed, and we're back to "standard" seme & uke, which I find dull.
This series started out with promise, but it's been mired in an endless loop for far too long. I like the pace of the indivual scenes - I think the Ep 10 Minato-Sakuma scene was the best of the series - but again, it's the overall pace of the series that makes this not work for me. There have been about four eps worth of story stretched to 10.
I can live with the sound problems as long as there are no roosters crowing. It does seem that each scene goes…
That's a good prediction.
I'm commenting on problems, but I do like the series, and the acting is really good. JC does a great job of playing a girl being a boy, especially how "she" tries to butch it up when other guys are around. He should be required to dance in every episode, though.
Speaking of dropped series, are you watching Unforgotten Night? If so, how is that going? I dropped it two weeks…
That tends to happen to him a lot. Later he fails to successfully climb out of a pool and hurts his knee. To be fair, he IS an uke, so it's a bit of a miracle he didn't drown. The water was at least a meter deep, which is usually not survivable.

It really kind of is. So Much In Love was my goto for "so bad it's good", but I think Unforgotten Night may be pulling ahead. The shower scene was so random and out of nowhere, but I'm not complaining.
OMDramalist!!! I just discovered how to watch this at 2x speed and this is the first time a BL has had me in tears.…
I was going to rate "rewatch value" a 1 and comment you'd have to hold a gun to a puppy to make me rewatch this, but you made me rewatch this. I learned something new - I CAN actually get some enjoyment out of Pleng and Yi.
OK, so a major miracle occurred this episode: an entire game of volleyball was played without a single uke being hospitalized.
Fantasy worlds where there's no homophobia can be nice, but all-male soulmate hide & seek? That's homonormative.
Whenever Sun collapses, I scream at my screen "Go into the light, Sun, go into the light!" He never goes into the light.
A minor miracle also happened this week: Whenever Rain was around him in a state of undress (and that white shirt most certainly counts), Phayu had to run to the bathroom to whack off. I do like that they're actually portraying someone with a sexual attraction - that's not too common in BL - it's usually that I-love-him-for-his-soul thing. You'll recall in his fantasy, Phayu wasn't kissing or hugging Rain, he was fondling his abs.
Anyway, everything between them was on fire - I haven't been that into a couple in a while. The scootching back on the bed, Phayu's constant "showering", Rain very, very deliberatly wearing that white shirt... I loved it all. But I don't even pretend to watch Kim & Sun. Just now I had to scroll up because I couldn't remember their names.
Can someone please install that magic hair portal that Thitnuea seems to have? Because I’d save a fuck ton of…
The first time I commented on that, I got buried under strident posts insisting it's just from different lighting. I'd like to find a lamp that can change my hair from deep brick red to cotton-candy pink. Although then I'd have to dye my hair deep brick red and at my age it would look like I'm trying too hard.
Titnuea and Jean are again cute, and are again in it for 10 seconds. And Thanwa was really cute too, although I think Nice is wasted playing a dull sweet guy - he's one of he best villains in BL.
The next time there's a big dramatic breakup (replete with slo-mo flashbacks of good times together played over a sappy ballad) because someone saw... well, in this case absolutely nothing, and then misunderstands and refuses to allow an explanation, I will burn somehing down. Even repeadly hitting +10 seconds my blood-pressure was rising.
And what th f@#$ is Pleng apologizing for? Having an ex? Yi should be on his hands and knees begging for a second chance and Pleng should kick him in the neck. Pleng opened up to Yi about the damage his ex did to him, so Yi decides to do the same exact thing to damage him some more? F@#$ that malignant narcissist brat. It's already a miracle someone as hot as Pleng (who is, however, in desperate need of a better haircut) would even take a second glance at him, but does he appreciate that? No, he does not.

Anyway, while I groaned at the college setting, this does appear to be something different, so I'm intrigued.
