Wait. "I love you not because of who you are, but because of who l can be in front of you."

I would break up with someone who said that to me. You don't love me for who I am? Bye, you narcissistic little sh$#.

"I love you not only for who you are, but because of who I am with you."

Ah, much better.

My pleasure. I have always appreciated your perspective, and on occassion it's changed mine, which is what I thought discussion forums were for.

That was really cute. That would definitely make a good series - there's plenty to mine for comedy there - and mom hasn't shown up yet!

Just watched the second episode. I just don't like howthe first two minutes is essentially the last two minutes…
I prefer the tail of last episode to scenes from last week and endless opening credits, though.

Are we sure it's really 4 eps? That seems impossible - they haven't even introduced the secondary couple yet. Or maybe it's planned as a multi-season story.

I love this series so much - what a breath of fresh air this is. The production quality, the writing, the acting - all first rate. Taiwan isn't afraid of psychological and emotional complexity.

Also, Wu Zheng is hottttt.

To be honest I thought Leon's comforting was sort of annoying 😂
Comforting is always annoying. especially to the comfortee. But I thought he did the best he could. What do you really say to someone who has a meltdown over a cat? I wonder if his parents ever ran away from home. (Sorry, I don't like cats.)

This is a really good show and is worth watching despite the Nazism. What bothers me is that it's clear that the company that makes them (or a local distributor) is a sponsor. I don't expect actors in their 20s in a non-Western country to be familar with the symbolism, but I do expect the producers to know. Although to be fair, Nazi symbols are banned in so many places that you don't really encounter them often. In Germany you'd get fined for wearing one of those shirts.

Many thanks for explaining jpny01…I was totally lost and this helps immensely.
Glad to be of service! It was definitely confusing - I had to rewatch a couple of scenes to work it out. If they had subtitled the note it probably would have been more obvious what had happened.

Actually, Frankinsense was criticizing a fictional show, and you're attacking a human being - which is more awful? You actually used the descriptor "awful person".

Frankinsense was objecting to the poorly-written PTSD, not that there is PTSD present in the story. It's a totally valid comment, and I agree that it's poorly written, whereas you seem to be enraged becauses someone has a different opinion than you do about a piece of light entertainment.

If you've suffered trauma and watch a show like this where it suggests that it reduces you to crying incessantly like a small child, it's a bit disturbing. Healing from trauma needs time and professional help, not your codependent boyfriend giving you piggy-back rides everywhere.

why are people dissing about this series? what have they said? i would scroll down, but...
Oh good God. How is it toxic? Leon asked Pob for permission to pursue him, and Pob gave it. How is that saying no meaning no? Pob then made Leon work for it, and it was cute. People think everything is toxic, but somehow Leo's oppressively controlling relationship with Fiat and the codependency is healthy.

i was really hoping for more leonpob development… but with this show you can’t have too many expectations.though…
Same - Leon was perfect, but I thought James' grief was so real that it made me cry, even though I'm glad the cat is dead, because they're all evil.

Not Leon doing a much better job comforting Pobthen Leo did comforting Fiat...
I agree - Leon seemed to understand what he could do for Pob, but Leo is so controlling that he doesn't seem to understand Fiat needs professional help to get past his trauma.

Title Don't Say No
I had to start skipping things because I was feeling so much secondary embarassment. Fiat is a grown man, but they write him like a small child. It's OK to be tormented by childhood issues - who isn't? But he's still a grown man. First does scared/surprised reactions very well. I almost thought they deliberately scared him to make it look real. They need to give Ja something to do. Actually, they also need to give First something to do other than whining and crying. He's proved he's mastered that - now on to something else.

That was the first time we got to see James act, and he didn't disappoint - that was some of the most real grief I've seen in a BL - not OTT, but visceral. That level of grief is generally for when one's mother dies instead of an evil little creature, but still, it was great acting. And Leon is good at comforting - also not OTT, and no "it will be alrright", which is the last thing a grieving person wants to hear. Leon is often childish, but he's the only character in this who really acts his age.

Title The Yearbook
I just realized 20 minutes ago (that's about how long Ep 8 is) that I forgot to watch the last episode of the Yearbook. I wish I hadn't remembered.

Again, the entire episode is flashbacks. Even when someone is singing, there's a flashback to someone else singing the same song. There's a scene where there are TWO, I'm not joking, flashbacks within what is already a flashback. Well, there is a (very long) scene were Nut laboriously writes a letter, and then just calls Phob instead. And then it ended. I was about to get upset, but then the post-credit scene came on, which I thought might wrap it up nicely, but it was even worse. No interaction between Nut and Phob, then something randomly bad happens to someone else, which we hear about on the phone, and then it ends.

This series was a big disappointment - it had so many excellent ingredients, but the chef threw it all into a pot and boiled it until it was tasteless.

Title has to be one of the cutest guys on the planet. Almost enough to hold my interest during the endless scenes of him sitting places and writing or flashing back.

Hmm. 3 & 4 weren't as good as 1 & 2 for me. I was getting bored, which shouldn't happen in such short episodes. The actors need a coach for their smiling, because it's not reaching the eyes, although that might just be because they're so plastered with white makeup that they can't move their faces.

I think maybe the pace is too slow - it's half over and very little has happened. All they're interaction is accidental - opening the door & staring, drunk going to the wrong room, etc. That's kind of typical of BL, as if it's not OK for two guys to just be into each other and date.

But it's cute and watchable, and with two shows airing where people never cut themselves while holding sharp objects maybe I can get over my sharp-object-in-BL PTSD. As a bonus, they did something related to sports without anyone getting injured - a minor miracle.

They like unnecessary and ridiculous love triangle that's why. Something like this is not their cup of tea...
I was totally thinking the same thing! It ended up having absolutely no importance to the plot. It makes you wonder if a longer version was written where it mattered and someone forgot to take it out. It wasn't even comedic or involve shirtlessness - just a time-eater. They could have had TWO gratuitous shower scenes in place of the barrier. Maybe even three.

I laughed at Grand Wizard even though I shouldn't. It's kind of like that famous text autocorrect "I love you and dream about the Fuhrer."

Jae Hyun's outbursts and his stares of tragedy and rage were pretty spot on for me. Also, I think he's one of…
Hmm. For me Jae Hyun had a limited bag of tricks, and didn't have a very consistently drawn character, although the latter would not really be the actor's fault. His stares all looked placid yet vaguely hostile to me.
