Title Golden Blood
Agreed! Idk why so many people are hating lol its like they've never watched a BL before.
Are people hating on it? It looks like most people think its stupid but fun. I think it's pretty bad, but in the good way (unlike Nitiman), and I don't think I'll get tired of looking at Boat.

Can you give me spoiler about have the main problem between simai and lukmo have been resolved?
Your solution makes more sense given the story and dad's attitude - I'd probably put my money on that theory.

Title My Story The Series Spoiler
Miko just signed the contract in a livestream at youtube, he will also be co-producing the series. Aki wasn't…
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting the ending at all.
On Paano Kaya Kung Tayo Jul 14, 2021
I believe that Allen & Ivo are capable of acting - you occassioanlly get a glimpse of ablity. But that's not what they're doing here - it's more like striking poses. They, as well as all the other characters, are one-note - the same affect 100% of the time, i.e. they are in the same mood and expressing it in exactly the same way.

An example of the problem: How do you know that Sef cares for Andrei at the end? It's because he put him to bed, not because of the expression on his face. To be fair, he may have been performing at Oscar-level ability in this scene - we don't know because at no point was his face shown. But didn't it cross you mind that he looked like he was going to smother Andrei with that pillow? That's because there was no emotion in that scene. We're only getting what's going on with the characters situationally, not through acting.

The other actors venture into "bad" territory - they're downright distracting. The technical aspects of the production aren't improving very fast. The sound was a little better, and there were a couple of shots that were attempts to be interesting, like Sef shutting the door at the end, but it was a poor choice - it would have been better to do it from the interior angle so that we could see Sef's worry, and would be better symbolically to represent his isolation.

Also, the ulcer they're saying Andrei has is almost entirely the result of advanved age and related issues, including habitual smoking and some sort of major health trauma - for it to cause someone to constantly collapse, he'd have to be nearly dead and probably having severe internal bleeding. They should really choose more realistic ailments. It's not related to diet or normal life stress. They could have just picked dehydration or exhaustion.

There is nothing about this series that's interesting or new, except that the school uniforms have enough layers to keep the kids warm through winter in Poland (so they should have had Andrei suffering from heat-stroke). Right now, it's wholly dependent on the looks of the actors - so it's a good thing they cast such beautiful guys.

Have you seen Cheat? It's not every day you have a sex-fight between a nun and a witch.

OTT is "over the top". Happenstance is wonderful - I loved it. The ending is really good.

Questionable consent, or no consent, is a common theme in BL, as well as step-brothers falling in love. Those two themes bother a lot of people.

CHEAT is fairly dark, but in a campy way, so it shouldn't be taken too seriously - just enjoy the ride. It's much different than the typical BL, which can be a tad formulaic.

OMG, Miss Becky talking to animals would have been classic. "What's that, Mr Bird? You say Chuchchuck s in danger? Oh no!"

If anyone doesn't like campiness, is BL the right genre for them? How many times can someone trip, fall, be caught by someone, and then stare at each other until they turn gay before you stop taking it too seriously?

Title Light on Me
I really made an effort to like this series, but honestly it feels like something is missing here.
I still feel like there's something wrong with me if it's just the two of us [EDIT: Just the THREE of us!] that feel this way. This series is dull and lacks any heart. And slow burn is fine, but not merely giving off an occassional puff of smoke while walking slowly in circles. Everything about it is polished - but too polished, including the acting.

I still don't have a feel for Tae's character - he's all over the place. His aggression at the end was past due, but totally out of character for him. Shin Woo is better, but here he just shoved the student body president for touching him but he has no reaction to being physically threatened, which is really not consistent with his behavior and apparent mood.

I keep forgetting it's on, and I have a hard time focusing on it when I'm watching because I just don't care about any of the characters. Except the redhead, who's entertaining. There isn't any character development to latch onto either, nor even explorations of who they are, e.g. we relearn exactly the same thing about Daon's relationship with his parents that we already knew - just stated slightly more directly. This ep would have been fine as Ep 2, but not Ep 5.

Maybe this is aimed at a young teen audience and that's why it does nothing for me.

I though the biggest failing of My Day was it wasn't campy enough. For example, Aki's clothing was a little OTT, but he's so good-looking he pulls it off - they needed to dial it up a notch. Or if you're going to have the maid played by a man, then why make him look like a normal (well, almost) middle-aged woman? Get a serious drag queen. The girlfriend was evil, but we needed Cruella DeVille. Especially since she kidnapped the dog.

But you're right, this totally doesn't need a sequel. They could have just done a different story and cast the same actors.
On One Day Pag-ibig Jul 13, 2021
OK, I finished it. I have to be honest, it was terrible. But there was an underlying effort and heart that sort of saved the day, even if the execution wasn't up to the production's ambitions.

There are a few tropes that I don't think are acceptable anymore - fat-shaming for sure, and making jokes out of effeminate gay and trans characters also for sure. There was a decent trans character in this, which went some way towards righting the ship, but it didn't erase the bad taste in my mouth.

Anyway, I hope this crew continues to work on their skills and maybe give us something more successful in the future.

Ep 4 was better yes, but still they aim to perfection that it is too polish ,too much make up is one of the sides,…
I can't remember the end of Calculating Love, so I might have given up on it because of the middle. I'll go back and watch the end based on your recommendation. So it better be good! :)

Did it ever have a shred of dignity? The main conflict was an evil ex gf kidnapping a dog and dealing with it pooping all the time.

I get the point about the Sky/Ace dynamic, but a different actor playing Ace could still give us something we like. Sometimes, if you really think about it, the chemistry/dynamic in a pair is often resting almost solely on one of them. Maybe it was Miko. I certainly didn't feel anything in My Toxic Lover, despite that Aki is more my "type" than Miko.

Don't get me wrong, I'm expecting a trainwreck - but hope springs eternal.

Be cautioned that he's hardly in Cheat - I completely forgot he was in it until you mentioned it just now. He may be more prominent in upcoming second season.

I absolutely loved Cheat - it's one of my favorites. It's completely insane and OTT, but in a good way, at least for me. If you don't like transgressive behavior it might not be for you, but the ending is so worth it all.

I hadn't finished watching the ep before I responded to youm and now I have. Ugh - it was really bad. Except the last scene, for reasons I doubt need to be elaborated upon.

They seem to have exchanged their smart social commentary for unfunny misogynist slapstick humor and really bad business meeting scenes.
On Why Love Why Season 2 Jul 12, 2021
Oh dear. That was really excruciating to get through. I love the two leads and I loved the first season. I don't know what's happened, but it's a big disappointment.

- This season is really shallow, and lacks the sharp exploration of the past and its lingering impact on society. That's a shame, and I don't see any setup that could lead to improvement. This has become a wholly conventional yet low-quality BL (except for the hotness of the leads, which is hard to beat).

- The technical problems are, if anything, worse than last season. This is disappointing. Many amateur production companies show fast improvement, but not here.

- Most of the run time is taken up by uninteresting scheming women - so we're combining misogyny with tedious and cringy. This was a problem with Inn Love too - female characters constantly drooling shamelessly over attractive men, to the point that porn film characters would say "back off - you're making me uncomfortable." It's really horrible to watch. It's in the workplace, which makes it even worse.

- Not a huge point, but BL writers and actors need to go see an actual workplace and attend a meeting. Either make it realistic, or go OTT soap opera drama, because this came off as children pretending to be grownups. But the acting was super-cringe too - including Enzo, who's usually good, but I've noticed a tendency to go OTT too often - but then with some of the scripts he's handed he probably needs that as a coping mechanism.

There is really nothing about this I'm interested in watching - it's more like something to endure. With one exception:

- Emil's sexual fantasies are what you'd expect from a 12 year old boy, but I'm fine with it as long as he continues to expose his oiled torso. Honestly, that was cute, but I suspect Benjo is going to break out laughing when he sees him. I certainly would. Before I chained him to the bed and called in sick for a week. I'm surprised the writers were aware that Deadpool lusts after Spiderman.

I was so frustrated in this ep that I skipped the ads, which I never do. If there's no improvement next ep I'll probably drop this, and by drop it I mean ff through everything where people are wearing shirts.

I noticed that about Nampu - I think his hair was styled in a much more flattering way. He looked really handsome.

This show has lost its soul. Benjo's and Emil's social class differences, interconnected family histories, and…
When I started watching Season 1 I thought it was soft-core porn. For which I was totally onboard, because those two are hottt. But then it surprised me and got deep. So far Season 2 is a big disappointment as it seems to have regressed into a formulaic shallow BL, although the sexual roleplaying is certainly not something you see very often in this genre.

Maybe it will once again surprise us - after all, Emil seems to be enjoying his newfound class privilege, but he's not really a member of that class, and that could potentially lead to a hard fall... I'm not particularly hopeful any depth with materialize. But the boys are hot enough to keep me watching, or at least ff through everything else to get to the skin show sections. I'm not afraid to admit I'm shallow.
On In This Kaleidoscope World Jul 12, 2021
I really wanted to like this. There are some positives: 1. Jules Indiola is on my screen. 2. There is an attempt to be creative and try something new, which is always a plus.

If this were a play at a university theater, I would applaud it. As a BL, I don't understand what its audience is. That all love OK is a given to BL audiences, so this is preaching (a bit heavy-handedly) to the choir.

Second, the "gimmick" is playing the f/f and m/m storylines in parallel, e.g. the girls say something, the boys follow up, and you presume the same thing that you heard the girls say also passed between the
boys, etc. But sorry, men and women are not the same, and m/m love is not the same as f/f love. Love is love, but the ways it are expressed are conditioned and driven by biology and society. We celebrate diversity because inclusion of difference makes society richer and stronger. So to me, this series is part of a growing trend to erase diversity and pretend we're all the same. If we are, then what's the point of diversity? In that case, our slogan should be "embrace uniformity."

Smart writing would have done the parallel thing but would diverge, perhaps subtly at first, and eventually end up very different in substantial ways.

Now for the worst: There's a sex scene which was entirely on the girls, and then they only shift to the boys laying in bed post-sex. That is revolting, and is both objectification or women for the straight male eye and homophobic at the same time. Maybemale sponsors and producers pushed for that - I don't care. If you're telling us love is love, it's all the same, then why are you showcasing what's most desirable and acceptable to the non-queer male gaze?

Minor note: The idea that Jules Indiola would have to pay for sex under any conceivable circumstances is LOL funny. He would never even have to pay for a drink, let alone sex. Note also that not only did they not show any m/m intimacy, they even had sheets covering most of their torsos so that we didn't even get a glimps of abs - just to make sure that only women are objectified.
