On HEHE&HE Season 2 Mar 10, 2021
This season is good, but it's strayed into fairly dark territory and is getting uncomfortable to watch. The roommate has been MIA for quite some time now, and it doesn't appear his characters was really written into the plot - he's just there, but at least he gave us a break from the central couple's toxic relationship.

I was obsessed with S1 - I binged it. For S2 I can't take more than an ep at a time, sometimes only half. The sharp comedy and comaraderie that made the show so special has been replaced by wilted depressive binge drinking and all the characters being relentlessly beat down. Hopefully Tat's visit was a turning point.

I thought it was nice to see that Nite has a supportive buddy he can talk to about stuff... but the rando from…
That's right - I forgot that he already knew who Tae was. Maybe he's evil and Nite will cone to the rescue. That he knew Tae suggests that he's not Nite, but we'll see.

I think there are a few points in favor of this show to consider:

- No toxic female characters - in fact the female characters are strong.
- No screeching trans characters, no trans or fem shaming at all.
- Tae shirtless
- People actually communicate when they have conflicts instead of moving to a different country for five years without explanation, faking their deaths, just plain not talking (and none of their friends help), or suddenly torpedoing the relationship over insane jealousy that their gay bf is talking to a girl.
- Other than having no questions to ask a supernatural being about, well, the supernatural, characters behave like normal people. They put set their phones on vibrate and they have reactions you can understand to things (except for not asking a supernatural being any questions about the supernatural).
- Tae shirtless (sorry, I'm obsessed with him). And the way he grabbed Nite by the neck and took possession.
- No seme/uke dynamic. Just two guys. Well, a god and a guy.
- No tropes. No accidental kisses, no two boys falling so their faces are too close together and they stare at each other until they turn gay, no "I'm not gay, I only love _________", no agonizing over liking a man, no evil girlfriend in the way (in fact the girl sort of in the way is very mature about it), NO ENGINEERS.

I give them points for trying something new.

If you were a gay guy and you ran into Tae sitting alone in a bar, would you try your luck? I know I would! I'm not sure it's stalkerish, and Tae didn't tell him to hit the road - he did engage him in conversation.

I think there's actually 12 episodes, not 10, so while I think it's too late to throw in a villain, there's time and it's certainly been done before *cough*2Gether*cough*.

I really like it - I think it's underrated. The acting is about normal for a BL and the story is not formulaic…
Sure! I will caution that there is a lot of wandering around to nice scenery - if that's boring, you can ff throwgh it and you won't miss anything plot-wise. BTW, there is no toxic female character nor any trans-shaming.

I could tell when this ep ended that a lot of people would be unhappy. The brevity of the episode is a legitimate complaint, but I don't think it's true that nothing happened. Last ep we had no idea how Tae ended up where he did, and this ep we got to see how he got there - and it was interesting and unexpected.

I don't think the boy at the bar is what he seems - there's something off. And I like that Tae continues to act like a normal person - even to the point of leaving his phone on vibrate.

Also, Tae shirtless. And Tae in the unbuttoned black shirt. As if he isn't cute enough already, he's got that hot body too.

I know something definitely happened this week but I don’t know what. Did something actually happen??? Hmm ?…
There's 3 eps left! It says 10 eps here but it's actually 12. I think this episode what happened is that we found out the random one-nighter was not a random one-nighter - there's something going on with the new boy.

There's something nor normal about the boy at the bar - he could be Nite, or some malignant entity, but the latter doesn't really fit the mood of the series.

Ok. This episode is clearly a 1 point from me. Not only that it is reduced to 3 parts, nope. There was, actually,…
Other than it being too short, I liked it. It showed us what happened to get Tae to the hotel room, which was new and not at all what I expected. But this whole episode could have been one part of four. Also, Tae without a shirt is worth it for me.

This drama IMMEDIATELY got a bad rating and hasn't really gone up. I'm debating whether or not to just take this…
I really like it - I think it's underrated. The acting is about normal for a BL and the story is not formulaic and predictable. People talk and act like normal people and don't have totally implausible communication failures.

Thank you! Nobody has ever answered me and it was driving me nuts! There was one series that took place on an urban university campus and there were still roosters crowing nonstop. I keep shouting at my screen, "Would someone go kill the f@#$ing rooster?!?"

I wish someone would explain the roosters. WHAT IS WITH THE ROOSTERS.

The writing is smart and relevant, so it's not just a shallow BL, if that means anything. It's not for everyone, but I'm really liking it, even beyond oggling Kiko.

This show is wonderful! Normally the only Asian humor I find funny is Vietnamese, but this series is hysterical all the way through. It's about roommates where the straight one is fussy and obsessed with skin care and the gay one is a slob. It's super-cute and funny, and the straight one is hot as f#$%, which is an excellent match for my shallowness - also the kid upstairs is super-cute.

But seriously, watch it. It's more than just a comedy, and although the first half is episodic, there is an overarching storyline that's moving and beautiful. If you are a BL fan, there will be enough in here for you.

If they answered all the questions in the first episode then there wouldn't really be a point for the rest of…
Sam does it for me in a major way. When he whipped off his shirt suddenly and for no apparent reason I almost exploded. Damn.

Totally agree about Andre- they really made his character not only rude, but really low. I don’t think I’ll…
Yes, I'm a hardcore "violence is never the answer' person, but I want to punch him in the face so badly. That means the acting is good, because normally a character like that would produce an eye roll.

Actually it was basically what was in the manga (it's only 5,5 chapters): - lost - and then on the string - wedding…
That also would have been a better ending.

Everything becomes clear in the first episode of the second series :)
I'm not sure I would characterize the results of Ep 1 as "clear", but it did answer a few of my questions above, although not Shu Yi's strange luggage choices. :)

Well, ITSAY II hasn't aired yet, but this one is tough to top.
Yes - it's something special when something isn't just a great BL series (let's face it - the bar is pretty low), it's a great series, period.

I agree about everything you said, especially about the communication, but imo I think it was actually Shu Yi…
Oh sure - I agree with all that. But how someone deals with hurt has to be consistent with their character. Do we really believe Shu Yi has been consistently confrontational, and I don't buy that he would just turn around and walk away.

As for Shi De, the writing can't have it both ways. On the one hand, he leaves the situation undealt with for FOUR YEARS, then suddenly he's barging into Shu Yi's house and refusing to leave. That makes no sense. The person who would forcibly trespass isn't going to just ignore that his bf and OTL has cut him off without explanation.

BTW, I don't think Shu Yi's reaction in the house was unreasonable at all - in fact he was somewhat restrained. It's everything else I have a problem with.
