I do look forward to the show, but it's not very good. If you take it for what it is, it's entertaining and engaging enough, but I'm having trouble getting past the offensive stereotypes. All the other flaws I can forgive, because I can feel the passion behind the project.

I'm not sure if the chemistry is particularly subtle, at least not in this episode - I was feeling it. I liked the improv parts, like when Ace couldn't open the box or why Sky was blocking Ace's view of the grill with the fan.

It was the best episode, but the bar is not set particularly high. The show is entertaining enough, but I end up fast-forwarding through a lot of it - the queer characters are all grotesque and cringy stereotypes and it makes me angry.

I enjoyed it, but the treatment of queer characters is so offensive that I spend too much time angry to fully appreciate the better aspects. Jelai criticising Marianne for flirting was like Hitler criticising someone for anti-Semitism, not to mention being part of a pattern of sexual harassment, but at least he's insanely inappropriate with both sexes. Aki was OK like you said - he's good at being sweet and polite - the kind of guy you want to bring home to your mother. But it's a bit abrupt a turnaround, even with the near-death experience. Also, I don't begrudge them ad revenue, but Jesus H. Christ, an ad every 2 minutes (not even exaggerating for the sake of drama)? And for me it was the same ad every single time, so I was approaching seppuku-level frustration by the end of the episode.

I just wish a plague would carry away all the characters except Ace and Sky & his parents, because they're all so cringeworthy. I'm willing to save Chukchuk as well. And the guy in the gym. :)

I'm OK with the main characters not knowing who they are at first, like Mico & Xavier on HS and Ace & Sky here - but I'm also sooo done with the Thai "I'm not gay, I only like X" crap. That's one of the reasons I liked He's Coming to Me - the main character is unambiguously gay, and he even says so. (And super hot, which never hurts.) In any case, the upper end of Filipino BL blows the Thais out of the water, but then Thai shows are aimed at 12-year old girls, so there are limitations associated with that.

I don't think this show can ever be on the level of Hello Stranger - the writing, acting, and cinematography & editing on that series were outstanding. This show is a bit of a trainwreck, but it is entertaining, if you fast-forward through the filler and incredibly offensive stereotypes.

I'm with you 100%. The trans and effeminate characters are caricuatures and pathetic and predatory - it's so increadibly offensive and maybe beyond cringy - maybe "crangy" (cringy/angry). But I could watch Ace & Sky all day. And I love Sky's parents.

It caught me by surprise and made me cry - that was some good acting.

I already like it much more than the trainwreck that is My Day. I like finally seeing an openly gay without issues or a girlfriend. This is also one of the first times I've seen a character have a realistic reaction to something like shirtless Royce. Although Judah's reaction to the head massage was not very realistic because it didn't involve his having to change his underwear.

If holding hands is a breakthrough for 20-year olds who have been together for a year, you're setting the bar a little low for "breakthrough." I think maybe the problem is that they should have set this show in high school where their behavior doesn't come across as immature.

Oh, no! I didn't want to ruin it for you. I'm sorry, lol! I probably need to learn that this is the way Thai BLs are, and they are aimed at younger audiences and so they need to be a little tame.

That's a good point actually about it only being 2 weeks. It occurred to me at the time, but I got distracted by the reunion issues. Two weeks can seem like a long time for young people in a new relationship, but COME ON, you're a grown man now! Especially if you're really busy, time flies! I wonder if this was originally written for a much longer time apart. Or maybe they were going for some sort of constrast with Man & Type - but if so it fails because the latter are way more mature about separation. Although maybe TOO mature, like they way 50-year olds would act in this situation.

The tossing the drink across the street was really over the top. It took me completely out of the story. In My Day there's an excellent product placement where Sky puts on sunglasses which was much less intrusive - it was still cheesy, but we at least got to watch him shirtless and flexing in the mirror.

Hello Stranger 8 had the worst offender of all time - Mico is devastated and depressed and he brushes his teeth and shines a fake smile into the camera - it was laugh-out loud bad.

I apologize, I didn't mean to sound so negative - I was being bitchy and half-serious.

I disagree to an extent, but probably not as much as you might expect. I get that their "love-language" is understated, and that's fine. But the specific narrative of these two episodes has been how torn up and sad Tine is without Sarawat and how much he misses him - to the point of crying uncontrollably and talking all day to his Wat doll.

To just sit and chat after all that doesn't work within the context of what we were given. You don't miss someone that much and then not at least hug each other.

I agree, and I was the same - it's not easy to come to terms with your sexuality in a conservative society. It was fine in the first season, but now it doesn't feel right - I don't think a public make-out session would have been appropriate for the characters, but there should have been at least a hug.
