There's no such a thing as "innocent soldier". It's a profession a person voluntarily chooses knowing…
I understand it left a bad taste in your mouth. 🄺 In reality, it is sad. War is sad. Even the war going on in real life is sad. The soldiers who died were sad. But for me, for this show at least… it’s not inconsistency. It’s the difference between condemning needless sacrifice (30k died unjustly due to betrayal and greed from their own empress) and accepting the tragic reality of war (more soldiers were willing to die for a greater purpose as per episode 26). Xiao Wuyi’s decision was still very much like Xiao Wuyi in episode 1. He would do anything to achieve peace and protect his country, and he did. The end. 🤣

There's no such a thing as "innocent soldier". It's a profession a person voluntarily chooses knowing…
The difference is that those 30k soldiers died unjustly.****

Xiao Wuyi wasn't angry simply because 30,000 soldiers died. He was angry because they died for nothing. Those 30,000 Beifu soldiers were killed because corrupt officials supplied defective repeating crossbows and covered it up. Their deaths were the result of greed and betrayal by the very people who were supposed to support the army.

In Episodes 25–26, the soldiers who died were heroes. Xiao Wuyi didn’t throw their lives away carelessly. He continued fighting alongside them because there wasn’t a peaceful option left. As a general, sometimes he has to make impossible choices where sacrificing some troops prevents an even greater disaster. That's very different from accepting corruption that got thousands of his men killed unjustly.

No commander/general can guarantee zero casualties in war. Xiao Wuyi condemns deaths caused by corruption, incompetence, and political scheming. When he later ordered his men into battle and fake a fight to fool and infiltrate the enemy kingdom, it was because he was trying to accomplish a military objective and protect the country, not because he saw their lives as expendable. In return, the soldiers followed him willingly, despite having their families and friends, because they believed in his leadership, his sense of duty, and the cause they were fighting for. They trusted that he would not waste their lives for personal ambition or political gain, but would only ask them to make sacrifices when there was a meaningful purpose behind them.

What amazes me is that Key to the Phoenix Heart didn’t even need its own promotional page on IQIYI to be Top 1 on the App šŸ˜ While I don’t know how long it’s gonna last, at least they still made it there with very late & little promotion, a premier date that was moved up early for no reason, no hype, no solo page/column on IQiYi unlike their other recently released shows (literally all of them had one except KTTPH so you can expect more people to find those other shows more easily), and yet KTTPH still made it to top 1. Now now, don’t be sad about anything else, little fans. KTTPH don’t need their own promotional page or steamy scenes to be a legend. KTTPH will be remembered not only for having good looking leads, but for its acting, action, purity, and engaging story.

Agreed!!! I'm so confused on the ratings, it should be higher.
MDL Individual episode ratings are separate. It will not affect the overall show rating from what I ve heard?

Li Mao is obsessed with power and winning over Xiao Wu Yi. His actions just negate whatever good he has accomplished…
So this means Limao’s personality/character is supposed to be like that šŸ˜‚ A real bipolar šŸ˜‚

I somehow couldn't watch last 4 episodes so I am skipping looking at you guys' comments. But if li mao gets beaten…
It’s hard because it doesn’t even have its own page on Iqiyi like most new dramas do, so a lot of people still don’t know about it. It’s low budget but really good ;u;

I mentioned this in a comment somewhere, but… I can’t stop thinking about the similarities between ItachiXSasuke and WuyiXLimao, except the rivalry for a woman part and the fact that Wuyi/Limao are not actual brothers. If you’re not familiar with the former, they’re from Naruto.

Am I the only one?
Li Mao = someone who starts like Sasuke (hurt, losing what he loves, consumed by feelings), but ends up having to face his own choices. Hates Wuyi to the max, just like S hated I to the max.
Wuyi = someone more like Itachi in the sense that he hides pain, sacrifices, and protects people even when they misunderstand him and see him as a villain.

Which means, in the end, Limao will most likely also realize that the person he fought/hated was never truly his enemy. A lot of you may not like Limao now, but I think this is gonna happen eventually.

Unless I’m just writing a fanfic in my mind lmao

XWY has multiple time tried to guide LM to the right track, but based on previews and teaser, i have a trust issue…
Idk why but I’m starting to see Sasuke and Itachi in them. Itachi doesn’t mind being misunderstood as villain similar to Wuyi. Itachi hides his suffering and accepts Sasuke’s hate but still dotes on his little brother to become stronger. Wuyi hides his suffering and accepts Limao’s hate but still dotes on him to become emperor šŸ˜… I think they’re bound to be a tragic relationship, but I have a strong feeling Limao will understand Wuyi more later on, and vice versa.

At what ep falls in love with ML? Is it he fell first and harder or she fell first and he harder?
Ml fell first. But to me, they both fell equally hard for each other after that. Both care just as much, both sacrificed just as much.

After being annoyingly hinted throughout the drama from the very start and I've hoped to see it ended asap, I…
I usually just want a drama to end asap because it gets boring… but for some reason, this one I want more 😭

It’s starting to get scary… Not horror scary, but scary as in scared for what the future holds for them. It’s…
And I really want Wuyi to be the ruler… Why is this not possible? 🄺 Oh Wuyi, Wuyi, why does it have to be Limao? You are so much better than anyone there. At the same time, I get that you would rather be fighting on the front instead of being constrained in the palace since this seeems like what you’ve been accustomed to since you were a child. And that you wish for peace more than power. But if you were not sick, I wonder… wouldn’t it be better if you ruled the world? 🄺 Unfortunately, this is my wishful thinking. HMH said Wuyi is different from other male lead characters… I think it’s because most male lead characters in historical cdramas typically ended up choosing both the power of becoming an emperor + the girl they love . Meanwhile, there’s Wuyi… in prison, writing something about the military using his own blood, worrying about the war in other countries, and still hoping for peace. He sounds like a true hero… It’s making me sad. You know what he reminds me of?

Jose Rizal.
