To end all controversy and to boost the ratings to 10,1%, the KTL writter is working on a very special episode with a more up to date and sophisticated story. Its a 3h christmas special to promote peace for all mankind. Here´s the Sinopse: In a snowy winter cabin, the men are busy throwing gingerbread cookies out of the window for the happy starving orphan children to cath, while the women are giggling away in the kichen cooking the dinner and mending the men socks, when, suddenlly, a surprise guest appears out of nowhere, It´s a rich arabe prince . Wonder what role he plays?
My fast foward was "acting up", like full speed ahead, and sudently i saw a scene with a gold chest. For a split second, thought why not rewind, but then who cares. Why bringing that up, did the writter tought the audience would jump with frustation during the end credits shouting what about the gold, who took the gold for the love of God. Now will never know ...
Lets look at the ratings... Not an expert in mdl ratings, but the closest drama do KTL is Secretary Kim. This one is also a super light and fluffy show that relies heavily on the star power of the Leads. It´s got an 8,5 and, in my humble opinion, it´s clearly overrated by at least one point. But even secretary Kim feels like a Shakespeare play compared to KTL. I don't remember if ever finished it, but a least in that drama the secretary character had some agency in the first episodes, she was looking to improve herself and open a new chapter for her, trying to break away from a life serving her narcisistic boss. The KTL FL is more: Oh, look an hotel, so shiny and pretty. Oh, look, it's the president son, so shiny and pretty. End of story. Now here's more 12 filler episodes full of product placement. Enjoy. So, a rating close to 7,7 for KTL it´s nothing to be ashamed, since it´s in the same range of the "Shakespearean" Secretary Kim.
I agree, she's an amazing actress. I saw her in When the Devil Calls Your Name and even though I dropped the drama,…
I also dropped it because of the poor story development, not because of the actors. Unfortunatly, she doesn't have many good kdramas if i rebember well
The main problem of the show is simple. It lies in an outdated plotline that uses references from a bygone era. The arab incident was avoidable if they used a more sofisticated aproached to the love rival scenario, instead of the old skit "rich arab guy appears and poaches all our women". Who think this is funny on this day and age? Or the script has been forgotten in a drawer since the 70's or the writter is 70 and lives in an isolated island. Maybe, the rating drop is not only due to an "arab conspiracy" but also from the frustation of the viewers with the show quality (don't forget the overdose of filler episodes, product placement, cringe comedy bits etc...).
Lee Seol is a true talented actress. I first saw her in After the Rain (2018) and she defined her role in just a few scenes on the screen, pulling us in to her story with an impressive range of emotions. So i pity this poor "actor" idol if he is so bad has the coments bellow. He better tighten is act or his gonna get trashed. I don´t plan to watch it
Wonder why ??? Why the rating drop for KTL (Disclaimer: droped it on ep10). Even if we overlook the arab “incident” on the show, wich is no mean feat to insult other cultures because of a outdated plotline, even if we overlook that half of the show are filler episodes full of product placement, even if we overlooked that the caracthers have the consistency of cardboard cutouts and the comedy bits are stale and awkward, what´s left is a bellow average RomCom that has the star power of the actors has its biggest selling point. What matters is if you had fun wacthing it, so why demand that this show should have a rating of 8.6 or 8.4. Maybe, there´s other people who think that should be more demanding on the quality of the shows and express it with lower ratings.
I've read she will play his younger sister, not a romantic interest? Anyways I'm not really feeling this drama…
I'm sorry to say it outloud. But after King land, i'm not sure if i can handle to see another brainless show, hoping to see just a glimmer of the talent he show the world in red sleeve
Ep 10 was also the last straw for me. It almost made my remote fast foward button pop out. It´s a insult for viewers. Like, we don´t need a story for this one, let´s just sell a 1hour tv slot for the thailand tourism authority
Latest... Season 2 of King Land was just announced. The writter and director are going to be fired. Instead, the 16 episodes are going to be a compilation of glamour headshot photos from the lead actors, a slideshow with silly/fun moments from the cast, a selection of promotional clips provided by the lead actors agency and by the board of tourism from the country who pays better. Oh wait, that's the first Season, minus the prejudice and racist part. So it's a hit ....
After Red Sleeve, a well written show where he as superb, he should be looking for better roles, its degrading for him to apear in brainless shows like King land
