This is not for me. Shallow characters and flat acting, flashy excessive scenes just for fanservice right off the bat, stale writing and predictable storylines. Its just one more show that relies solely on glamour beauty shots from the leads.
I had zero expectations about miss hong, because of recent dramas with retro vibes that i dropped and because i don't remember ever finishing a drama with both FL and ML, with the exception of reply 1988, for the later case.
But, in my humble opinion, miss hong is, by far, the best written drama that i saw this year. The story has great balance between humour, emotion and office politics and makes us really care about the characters.
I don't care much about mdl ratings or audiences. I'm just happy that i didn't let one of the few dramas worth watching this season pass by.
For a first episode, the writter/director team spare no effort to keep us from enganging with the story and the characters. This is more like a masterclass on how to annoy the audience. So many awkward scenes and so many WTF moments when we barely know the characters. This one was promising, but, sadly, looks on the way for the droped list.
Started to skip some parts on ep 4 or 5 and now i'm FF like 80% of the episodes. The writting lacks balance and focus. They keep repeting the same paterns over and the storylines resolutions are unrealistic and overly dramatic. The retro vibes started to get anoying and the effort to make some characters "cool and fun" amidst so much sob storys and economic misery is too akward to watch. This drama had potencial but it got lost on the script and there's more 6 episodes to go. Sorry, but i'm done.
I like Somin but i'm not a hardcore fan. In my humble opinion, she is as natural in romcom land , but not every show she does is gold. The latest, would you marry me, is a total wast of time and talent. I didn't think that proven actors in this genre still get roped into this kind of brainless drama full of bland clichés and basic humour. So, I only hope that her next projet is way better than this one.
maybe it's time for Jung So Min to change her genre, same same most of her dramas, also Song Joong Ki, try action…
Sadly, the source material is appalling. It's like someone dare the writer to come up with the most bland and predictable romcom in the world. It's an encyclopedia of kdrama clichés mixed with some shallow and basic humour scenes.
Don't know if the story is any good, but at least someone attempted to write one. In KTL, they didn't even bother to write something, it was just 90% fan service and product placement and 10% of some ramdom dialogues and cringe humour.
Well directed, impeccable cinematography and production values, enganging story and characters. This show is ridiculous good for a monday drama. I'm really glad that i didn't let this one pass by.
I guess the story also got stuck in the mud. After two episodes we get nothing substancial about the main characters that couldnt fit into a two minute introduction. How many ramdom workers have to be beaten to prove to the audience the cruelty and Injustice of the world and how many gangster and their relatives have to be planted in the narrative to shown that their violent and vicious. We get it after one or two scenes, now move the story along...
Didn't had much hope for this one, but lately i'm always surprised by the overall quality of so many hyped dramas. This show fails pretty much on everything. Sloppy writting, forced humour bits, awkward actions scenes and appalling prodution values that gives the feeling that i'm watching a low budget B-movie.
This show looks good on the surface and promises to deliver a slick and modern take on the high stakes politics of an attorney firm. In the first episode, the characters are well set up and the storylines are engaging, but then we start to deal with the court cases. The writer/producers decided to crank up the emotional volume of the show with these court cases and the result, for me, is painful to watch. It's just to much, to loud and to hysterical, similar to a daytime soap opera. What's next, they are going to defend a CEO that runs over a runway pregnant teen with and old dog who limps away trying to find help and finds her long lost blind twin sister who has left behind on an orphanage by a sickly and terminaly ill mother whose now on the hospital witnessing the accident and loses her memory with the shock...
I get that many actors need to do some lighter shows because of their fanbase, but this is ridiculous. Its daytime soap opera with sketchy storylines and cringe humour. Its not that bad as When the stars Gossip, because that's impossible, but its close and its a real shame when you look at the cast of this show. They deserve better.
I guess they are aiming for the something like hospital playlist with laywers. Its full of slice of life moments with a similar ensemble cast but the dialogues are very weak and the storylines are underdeveloped. So, sadly, this show feels super bland and forgettable.
This is much more cartoonish and cheesy than i expected and i still have PTSD from watching the first episodes of When the stars gossip. So after and hour of cringe humour scenes, gone give up on this one
I'm on ep 6 and have to say that this show has a problem with the narrative tone. So many scenes building up the revenge storyline, with countless deaths and sacrifices for some ultimate revenge plot and then nothing... The FL just goes to work and solves several "rubik puzzles" along the way and the "bad guys" have endeless and pointless dialogue scenes on how to stop him...
Why a 12ep show, based on a webtoon, has so much trouble to deliver clear and coherent scenes and storylines. Several scenes are completely out of place and don't have any value for the character development. Some scenes are even abruptly cut without a clear reason. Also the "comic" scenes feel weird and hastily done, especially when you have good and expressive actors for this genre. The writer/director/editor team are bit lost or sleeping on the job.
For a light romcom, is not as fun as Business Proposal but is not a major disaster like Brewing Love. Surprised to see so many actors from True Beauty. At least, the ML is not a wooden figurine trying to act like a boy...
I don't have a problem with slow burn stories, but this show has a big issue with the narrative tone: it's totally flat and repetitive. There's no nuances or changes of pace, the writer just keeps hammering the same key points over and over again. The ML is smart and perceptive but kind of a loner. Has a crush on a gloomy girl. She is emotionally scarred because lots of random people keep dropping dead around her. And that's it. After two hours of a 10ep show, we don't get much to engage with the characters so the FF button pays the price.
Is it really necessary such overkill just to estabilish the mood and the personality off the FL. It's like a whole football team droping dead in just an episode. Just for the writers: after one or two "random accidents" we get the point just move on.
But, in my humble opinion, miss hong is, by far, the best written drama that i saw this year. The story has great balance between humour, emotion and office politics and makes us really care about the characters.
