Title Who Rules the World Spoiler
I'm sorry but Bai Langhua is that dumb? LOL like you know the BFX you whole life and seem to have a good relationship overall but everytime at a drop of a hat, if anyone said anything, you immediately believe them over BFX and go so far as to just kill her without any hard evidence... Wtf did you dad teach you all his life jesus and this girl is supposed to lead a sect? she gets manipulated so easily like much more than any standard person... she'll get her sect killed in a blink.

this is really cuute so far. can't wait to finish but I have a feeling they prob won't kiss since he's a little young. It doesn't feel like it in the show tho bc she's young looking and pretty. She definitely pass as a sophomore in college. He is innocent/young looking though but it's good that she's a year older than him in the show so it doesn't feel out of place. The editing and pacing is a little weird but normal for most low budget shows. The cute acting makes up for it. Decent rom com for sure. I hope they will have a kiss scene bc there's been some suggestive and close face to face scene but who knows. I will binge the rest this week and report back LOL

I feel like a lot of people will disagree with this but -- I rather think the two leads chemistry isn't really…
Overall i think the chemistry is acceptable but not amazing. Both actors definitely have had better chemistry with others. I rather like the characters themselves more than the way teh actors portray it. No hate to either actors. I think they're decent for the genre they're in. However, their acting has idol acting kind of vibe which normally would suffice for rom com drama where you're jsut being cutesy with lots of intimate scenes. BFX and HFX are supposed to be a little more complex and their romance is the core but at the same time is also very subdued bc of the position they're in. So mostly stolen glances and little gestures to show affection. To do that your actors need to have exploding chemistry to really make you squeal. Otherwise, it would be just ok. They don't fully have that but I think bc of the way the characters interact their acting is enough for you to feel their affection but part of me definitely wish for more. I do believe I've seen better subdued stolen glances type of chemistry done a little better in other shows. Overall Yang Yang is a mid tier actor but he's so good looking you kinda forget that until you hit a drama like this where there's a need for lots of acting skill and some more depth. Lu si is a little better. She's been challenging herself more and altho I feel like she doesn't fully suit this role, she's doing pretty ok so far. The plot is ok and I do love the character itself. I would love to read the novel this comes from. I'm sucker for a mature power couple with a clear cut power struggle plot like this. The show is pretty good tho. A solid 7 so far. I think with a slightly better directing, writing and acting, this show could have been legendary. But as it is now, it's good for idol drama for sure.

at ep 8 but this show is so cute. They're the best fake couple i've seen in a while. They support each other well…
Another plus is the FL is written as someone unrefined and uses brute force in most situations. However, they don't make her one dimensional, unreasonable and overly abusive for no reason. She apologizes when she's wrong. She uses her fist a lot but she's not annoying about it. She knows when to use her words and brain and be polite when the situation calls for it, despite still a little rough around the edges. She has depth, understanding of life and self awareness even when she doesn't have the most poetic words to express herself. It's not often the C-drama knows how to strike a good balance in this type FL character. The couple is slow burn. She's the less emotionally attached one but with each interaction she seem to care for him a little more. There's a sweetness to her nagging and she knows not to over do it. Their progress is so cute and natural.

at ep 8 but this show is so cute. They're the best fake couple i've seen in a while. They support each other well and have the dynamic of a real married couple even with all the fighting. I really like the idea of an idealistic scholar trying his best to be a good magistrate and coming in touch with the harsh and complicated reality in politics. It's actually refreshing and more believable than a clever ML that just so smart they guess everything in advance. The story is much more realistic bc I imagine this how life would be for the average scholar. You can have all the good intentions and knowledge but without some scheming and the ability to break out of rigid values, they can't find their way to connect with the people and defeat rampant corruption. ML isn't dumb but he is very idealistic and too out of touch from just learning from books all his life. He's clever but he needs some sharpening. I think that's a very realistic situation as I imagine most people start somewhere. ML isn't magically super clever and is a master schemer despite being young with no governing experience, like some shows like to make it seem. Our ML has good foundation but he's still learning. So far they're doing a good job keeping us interested in his journey. The FL brings the down-to-earth, working people perspective, street smart and much needed muscle to the equation. The girl is a great reminder for him to break out of his rigid ways. At the same time, she's also just as pure as him and they both need each other to sort through the politics of it all. This feels like a fun journey already. Their temperament match really well despite their obvious differences LOL I love their interaction. They fight but they would be tolerant and understanding as well. The hilarious way they go off is also quite similar LOL. The stakes involved are just high enough to matter but not so much that it makes their learning process painful to watch for the audience. I have a feeling as they get better at dealing with politics, the stakes will be higher later on. This show is quite solid so far. I hope it keeps on this way. I needed a supportive power couple show.

LMAO the "proofs" They both eat the same common food ppl eat during new year, at a seemingly similar table? HA ok... Either company spreading this, news outlet or actual fans acting insane bc AHS is getting more popular these days... it's all so stupid. 1. doesn't really matter if they're dating or not, it's no big deal either way. Good for them. 2. All the proofs seem so flimsy to have a whole news buzz around it...? 3. Unless they want to disclose it, it's terrible to be digging into their personal lives and their romantic relationship. We have to do better and ... the only way this kind of acts stop is we, as ppl consuming the news, need to stop making a big deal over these things. If they are dating, congrats good for them. Hope they're happy together but I don't want to give it attention or credibility unless they broke the news themselves.

I have a hard time watching cdramas now that I have been watching kdramas. K dramas have better story lines, better…
I get it. Kdrama does have very tight story telling but lately lots of the good kdramas have a heavy topic or just very somber/emotional in nature, which are all great but sometime you just want some good ole fashion rom com that you can swoon over and laugh at the silliness. I also migrate to Cdrama for a while sometimes just to get a break from having to use my brain. It can be cliche and silly but still well written and funny. Some Cdrama rom com started out ok and then literally derailed all over the place. This drama is the perfect balance.

I was just going to say that! Just from the synopsis, you can tell this is your classic brainless rom com. Looks like it's based on a manga too so LOOOOL I'm ready for it though. As long as they keep it light, it will be fun to watch. It's been a while since we get a classic silly rom com drama from Kdramaland. I'm here for all the fluff and cliche

ok so i just started this, can someone clarify, the sub was confusing but she's the daughter of the 2nd wife right? the sub said madam and I know back then you can't call your mom mother if she's not the 1st wife. From their interacction it looks like her bio mom is the 2nd wife correct? Her stepmother is the 1st wife but also the one who seems to care about her more?

Title Sassy Beauty
Agree. With her in the9 I was picturing her more like the modern Si Yan, but surprise! She actually rocked the…
For sure! A few in THE9 have tried acting recently and I think aside from Esther Yu who is already a wonderful actress long before, Snow Kong is my favorite so far. She's is very charming on screen. I would say she out perform her co-star here even. It looks like she got some new interesting project coming up and I can't wait to see her shine even more when match with even more dynamic actors. She just became one of my fav rom com actress after this.

Never seen Snow Kong act before, I just know her a little through THE9 but she's a natural! She's so beautiful to look at on screen but she also does a great job with emotional scenes. She was adorable without being cringey... I've seen lots of idol actresses tried and failed at roles like this. I like her even more after this! Can't wait to see her act more!

Title Sword Snow Stride Spoiler
I agree too, I love Jiang Ni with Xu Feng Nian the most. I like the actress too. I thought she was going to be…
I died when XFN gave her his mother's sword and she gave him her dagger. UGH Now that she left, she might not be back until the next season if it comes out . I hope they keep the same actress and make her character grow more powerful adn confident in the future. She will likely learn from god of sword (since she also has the sword of XFN's mother now) and grow more mature in dealing with scheming ppl after facing the ppl in Chu. I know she's not the lead but I hope we can at least see some of that
On Sword Snow Stride Jan 5, 2022
Ok after ep 31.... I mean XFN and Jiang Ni... oh my ship. I love that he did so much for her so casually LOL she's the same way, just less calculative. Once they separated, I doubt we'll see JN for a while but honestly, this ship is real. Every relevant person in the show knows it and ship it. Even his dad and sister planned ahead to pave a future for them eventually. IDC how many ppl don't like her. I think she's great. It's hard to capture the innocence and fun of a teenage girl while still maintain a somewhat depressed vibe due to all the loss in her life. JN isn't perfect but I like her.. She's the only one with fun interaction with XFN and match his weird humor. I can't wait to see her character develop in to the pwerful queen she can be (if this show ever get a season 2 LOL)

I have to say I don't hate her, I just find her so boring as a character, she blends into the background somehow.…
Yeha. most of the girls around him will have the same vibe bc I think this was a harem novel. They got rid of the harem aspect but the men will have all the main impact. The women will just be around to add to the ML story when convenient. Now that she's leaving him to revive her country though. I hope to see her have her own journey and come back better.

Title Special Lady
She never had surgery… do u have proof?
I know this was months ago but just want to say I know what you mean. Her look did look a little different but I couldn't put my finger on why. Although even now that I look at her new and old picture side by side I don't think it's plastic surgery though. It looks like her feature got a little sharper. It's way too subtle for it to be surgery. From her old headshot you can tell that her features are the same. I think she just lost weight (which is common for actresses in china, especially as thye get more popular) and since she's already skinny, her feature becomes more distinct. Add to that, the way the newer dramas do her make up and the lighting, it highlights the sharper edges on her face more. However in doing so, her face lost a little bit of the healthy cuteness look she had in the beginning. I remember seeing her for the first time and was amazed at how adorable and pretty she is. Now she's still very beautiful but definitely slightly different vibe. I think she just got skinnier. Chinese actress just need to eat more LOL it's insane how skinny some of them get sometimes. She looks perfect the way she is.

Lots of hate for Jiang Ni here LOL but honestly, I ship it. I like her. After the latest ep, I feel the character development they have planned for her will be good. Both she and Xu Fengnian have lots growing to do. She's a little immature at time but she is very smart. She's only 15/16 at most. The more the story develop the more I understand her. She got deep thinking but still just a teenager. I like that. Very realistic. I can't wait to see how she will grow as a character. I ship her and XFN. I know it's not a romance heavy drama and I don't want it to be. I still want to show this pair some love, since so many ppl seems to hate Jiang Ni for some reason.

I’m sorry but I can’t stand Jiang Ni… I find her behavior towards Feng Nian really annoying and childish
It's their way of flirting. As it goes on, you can see she has a reason to act that way as well. They're also very young and that's how her character should be. She has deep thoughts but also can't help acting liek a young girl her age. It will slowly reveal why she act like that with Feng Nian. They both know they care about each other. Compare to Xu Fengnian, she's not as scheming but equally childish. Both of them has lots of room to grow. XFN just had his 18yo ceremony and she's a few years younger than him from the flashback, so she's supposed to be a teenager 15/16 at most. I think her character is written quite realistic. Lots of these shows tend fo exaggerate and make them way too mature given their age. I think they will grow to be much better in the future. Right now, they're right where they should be.
