Dude whatttt Peng Xiao Ran got a new drama!? I had no idea this was coming out. It looks interesting, so excited to watch this. I hope my girl will get a HE this time around. Does anyone know how the subs quality on Youku YT channel now? Viki can be quite slow but Youku subs on youtube was horrendous last time I tried watching a show on there a year ago. Just 100% google translate that made it quite non sensical and with a historical drama with lots of plots like this one, that would make it hard to keep up
Chu xia can be away from xiao dong but it has to be in the distance or else she gets teleported directly back…
Well there was way more than 1 instances though. The furthest she got at her strongest is from his house to the street food stall outside his house. He was at the hospital both times she took the bracelet off at the shop and when she went to Xuan He's office. There's no way all three locations just happen to be so close to each other? Idk. They prob just forgot tbh. The distances were inconsistent from the start. I shouldn't be too surprised.
Uhm wait, so since she got her bracelet fixed, she took it off a few times without getting pulled back to Xiao Dong. In her shop when Qin Yue was harassing her and at Xuan He's office, etc. I've been thinking it shouldn't be too bad if she gets in trouble bc she can take the bracelet off and just zap back to ML when she's in trouble but I guess not? Why? ... is it just a plot hole or did I miss something?
I think in the novel, in the modern times, he's supposed to be plain looking while Shiyi is gorgeous and the other…
LOL i didn't know that but that's funny. I never read the novel, just catching details from the comments so those details didn't bother me too much. Allen Ren is still adorable even when dressed as a nerdy scientist. There was a scene when he's walk to the reception of Bai Lu hotel looking like a deer in headlights, he really look awkward and different from ZSC the general. Gotta commend Allen's acting and the way ZSC is written. They feel like different ppl in demeanor but their actual personality is actually the same somehow. I love it haha
I think that's just the starting lines for the drama she's dubbing. As it goes on, they made it clear that it…
I never read the novel so I don't have an attachment to that story line but in a way, i quite like that she doesn't fully remember every moment of her past life. It was very traumatic and tragic. With the way the show is doing it, they're still connected and share a destined love, without the entire pain and trauma of their past. It lets their unfulfilled love story continue while still giving them a clean slate and hopeful start. There's a charm to this approach for sure.
Watching the first ep and I'm confused at their first meeting. How come SY didn't recognise him at the airport?…
I don't think they're supposed to look the same as their past lives. They kept the same actors bc that's the faces the audiences connected with. However, in this life, they hail Shiyi's beauty way more and they style ZSC in a much more plain way to express their differences. ZSC is not the dashing, handsome prince but his beautiful bones are still the same and drew Shiyi to him. She still mesmerized by his every move just like their past life. They didn't explicitly say it but it's clear Shiyi is very connected with her past life. She didn't outright say it but she feel/see flashes of the past and instinctively remembers certain things about their previous lives. She immediately felt like they're meant to meet from first hearing his name. Bc of censorship they couldn't say it outright but every indication of their past lives are clear and done well enough that I personally still feel the connection. In a way I feel like it gives them a destined love story without all the trauma/pressure of the past so I quite like it.
Their awkwardness is so reminiscing of their dynamic in the past when Shiyi first became his student, but this time there's no oath & conflicting responsibility to keep them apart. They're not student and teacher but straight to fiances!! I feel bad for those who didn't watch OaO all the way because the characters connections might feel irrational and too fast. However, it's 1000% justified bc they've waited a whole lifetime to be together and this time, they're finally going to. What they felt for each other is instant bc it's been brewing from centuries ago. I know there are storms coming but I'm okay with it all as long as they are together.
If Shi Yi does not remember her past life, how did she know that ZSC was framed in ep 1?
I think that's just the starting lines for the drama she's dubbing. As it goes on, they made it clear that it is One and Only she's dubbing, so she must have read the whole script and knows what actually will happen later. As it goes on, even though the show can't explicitly say it, it's clear she instinctively feel the connection with her past life and get flashes of it. She remembers the feelings and instinctual connections but not 100% clear. It's just enough to connect us to the past and present.
I think what they meant is the epilogue skip to them in the future with kids (twins from what i heard). It sounds like the show will give them a satisfying HE. Watch it with ease. I'm sure most of the issues will come from his family but given who they are, they won't be like other couples. They'll take the chance in this lifetime to stay by each other through and through
So I really don't love the glasses and the haircut. Why do they make him look like a mushroom head? And the best…
I think in the novel, in the modern times, he's supposed to be plain looking while Shiyi is gorgeous and the other way around in ancient time. The meaning is his beautiful bones is still the same and she fell in love with ZSC bc she can see who he is within. Since they need to keep the central 2 leads to maintain the connection for the audience, they made it so that ZSC is a lot more dorky and awkward looking. This makes his looks feel different than the handsome, dashing general in the past, yet we can still feel his righteous & devoted self shine through the same way. I like that they still try to keep that element and show that Shiyi immediately drawn to him bc of who he is and not his looks. I think he gets better looking in suits later but that's pretty much his look for the show. I find it his look quite adorable and the meaning behind it makes it worth it.
There aren't any sad scenes and I'm already in tears since ep 1. They're finally going to be happy. Much better set up. Her friend is so cute. Please let them be loved and supported!
But ML/Midland did not just randomly invade/conquer Azureland without cause or provocation. Azureland attacked…
I wasn't that far in yet when I wrote the comment. ML is a nice guy. I get the what you're saying.... still it's like someone got forced into being a Nazi general and kept at it. I don't remember them saying Azur was almost wiping out Midland. Just that they were at war and his father got killed in the process. Regardless, kicking somone out of your country is one thing. THEN, proceed to wiping out a whole race and country....? I mean you can take over someone's country, it happens all the time in those days, so I'm not naive to that. What his government chose to do though is making it a crime to be Azur all together and then kill whoevever cover for them. Yeah he was moved by the FL and the whole "children are innocent" and that's why he let the lil boy go. However, the law he's upholding all this time is wrong to start with. Out of all the ppl he caught, only a few of them are men. A bunch are women and children who is most likely just refugee and forced to be part of this rebellion bc they didn't have any where else to to go. It's illegal for them to exist... The way the show make it seems, it's like being Azur itself is illegal. Ex: the Azur priest that got capture for just doing a job for the FL. All he did to be captured was got exposed that he's an Azur. If the priest was a regular Midlanders he suspects, would ML do the same or actually get some proof by following him & investigate before capturing random citizens? It looks like the ML is committing a crime for even let an innocent child go....? He's in a predicament. But he already have it out for the Azur bc of his father and was ok with looking the other way in the name of the law until the cruelty is shoved in his face by the Yan girl. Not saying he's a cruel person. However, before Yan torture those women and children, they were there bc they escape the torture and interrogation in the prison the ML put them in. They don't show you to keep the ML image. He has his "reasons" but the show chose too heavy of a topic to try and create a "grey" area for the ML and then use Love as the ultimate push for him to change his stance. We can already see where this is going. She's gonna be the Azur princess and then the ML will likely to do wev to protect her and help her ppl. That's cute and all but Racisms and discrimination against immigrants are still prominent today and the the scar of those issues are still hurting and traumatized so many ppl. This was super triggering to watch for me and they're not giving the topic justice it deserves since it's a freaking Cdrama. I guess that's why it's hard to put on the rose color glass and romanticize it for the sake of a drama. They play up the discrimination part for the show and then romanticize it to use an idol drama love line to resolve the conflict? I mean... If they chose a different set up, it would be easier to swallow. I like the couple and I even find FL really funny and endearing. I don't get why ppl hate her so I'll watch to see if it gets better. May be the show will surprise me. RIght now, it is really hard to see such a heavy topic romanticize as a romance plot device and since it is a low budget Cdrama, I don't have much hope. At least the couple will be nice to watch.
I'm sorry.... Did the ML country invade the Azur and now they're killing everyone who cry blue tears? Uhm genocide much? WTF. Sure his dad was killed but was he killed during the war effort to invade someone else's country? I just started so may be I understood things wrong or it will be cleared later. It's quite uncomfortable to watch the massive discrimination right at the start. I would rebel too if you invade my country and commit genocide on my ppl.... May be that's the point and they will have more to expand on and reveal the struggle of the Azur. Right now, it's mostly ML killing/capturing anyone with blue tears like they're subhuman. It's so gross. You can't invade someone, run them out of their country and then kill/torture them whenever you see them. He's a nice person but that's some nonsense if they're going to make his action a good thing.
Very disappointed that after waiting for so long this is Huang Riying's next drama. The writing is very poor,…
Awww really? I love her and was looking forward to this.... Someone give this girl a good script. She's such a good actress. I was going to start this but may be i'll wait til it's done airing. That way I can give it a shot and skip through annoying bits
Honestly I feel like as she grows she get better at standing up for herself. Being timid is not a crime. She was…
Thank you and I totally understand where you are coming from. I think in this show, she'll get better. There is definitely a trend with soft & weak fl or FL who are tough talk but really clueless in action (mainly to compliment the ML as the savior). It's definitely a flaw with the way girls in asian cultures are raised and how those traits are reinforced in dramas. I would know bc I was raised the same way. In recent years, there's been mostly sassy and aggressive FL type from what I've seen with Cdrama. Some are well written and some are not but it used to be seen as a way to make the character "unique" and "not like other girls". I think that's why I like this rendition. We have the outspoken one in the friend and the timid one in the lead. They're both written quite well and their growth from their immature ways are quite nice to see. I hope you keep going and enjoy the show. If not for the girls, then for the ML who also gave a great performance!
Unpopular opinion, but I'm at episode 8, and the FL's character so far excels at weakness, timidity and pouting.…
Honestly I feel like as she grows she get better at standing up for herself. Being timid is not a crime. She was raised in a family where she never had her own identity and just have everyone decides things for her. She's 17. 17 years of her life she was raised that way and the easiest and least annoying way to accommodate to her family life is be the way she is. It's easy to point fingers at someone who is not outspoken and timid and say they're a coward, but not everyone is built the same. If she ran out and jump in, there will be ppl critizing her for getting in the way, and the ML would be too worry about her to fight. You see it all the time. She can't fight, can't call anyone, what is she supposed to do? Jump in and get beat up? Ml wouldn't allow that so he would be busy covering her and can't fight back. Woman comes in different ways - some are outspoken, sassy and some are comfortable being timid and quiet. Every kind of personality deserve to be represented and get the chance to learn and grow just like everyone else. I think the actress did a good job making the FL character shines and feel endearing. I personally relate a lot to her as someone with a timid side when I was in high school. You have all these thoughts and ideas but can't properly express yourself. I grew out of it but part of me still embrace the quiet side of myself. The FL will grow as well. I hope you don't judge her harshly. She is flawed but she will grow up. We are flawed and even more so when we were young.
No...this drama has a very satisfied ending for me because all the cursed villain get the punishment at the ending...
It's because they consider the surface level of "justice". However, in the end, despite "winning" and able to hold on to very very brief power, the villains suffer every moment of their remaining existence and then their lives end just as tragic .... The rightful ppl reclaim power. Lots of sacrifices went into that ending though. For me, it's a much more satisfying end and very realistic than everything just magically work out. Since we know it's a sad ending, I'm glad they did it justice and let the villains suffer together. It's a tragic story but very well done. Now I can't wait to see these characters in their next life finally getting the lives they deserve.
Told myself I won't finish this before the new sequel comes out but I couldn't hold it and finished it. Now I'm sobbing at 4AM... Best performance I've seen from both Bai Lu and Allen Ren. This story is too much. Every cast members did a great job. I have no words honestly. I need Shiyi and ZSC to get their happy ending in their next life and finally be together properly. I hope the disciples will also get their happy ending in their next life.
