I think someone said in the book, they were all reincarnated but none of them bare the same face beside Shiyi. Not even ZSC, and that's part of the "beautiful bones" that remain in his next life despite the change in appearance. For the drama, of course they will keep the main leads since they are the center face the audience connected with the most but it makes sense that all the cast will be different.

are they serious... 20 minutes episode release once a week....? Yikes ~3 months of airing for 4 hours worth of content? That's wayyy too long. I want to watch this so bad but I'm going to wait until it all comes out. I heard they're making a sequel. May be they will make the episode longer or air at least 2 eps/week.

I will. I'm at ep 12 but I will wait til sept 9 to binge through the rest. THat way right after OnO I can start the first new ep of Forever and ever. It will help cushion all the angst and tears at the end. At least I get to see them starting a new chapter right after.

UGHHHH Eldest sis deserves better. The Eldest bro got off the hook too easy.... He' forgiven just like that?? After hurting his wife over and over? Are you kidding me?? He did nothing to earn her love. It's just given to him.

Does anyone know if this will have a happy ending? I haven't started but I get nervous whenever the ML is an emperor in a serious drama.... bc of like harem and emperor fate usually end really rough in these period drama. It sounds like this is an intense plot too, so I wanna know what I'm getting myself into

Oh I agree with you. I understand her though. She was raised in a household where she never really get to decide things for herself and in meeting Xiyue, she realize she can also do what she set her mind to. She fell in love with him and she wasn't sure what to do with her own hobby. I mean drawing well is one thing but to make a career out of it is something else. Since she doesn't know what she wants to do with herself combine with chasing her love, it's normal that she decided to do where he goes. Add to that the insecurity she was feeling for not being good enough for him. I just think later on in college, it doesn't help that he keeps pushing her away while being upset she's not following her own dream when he does nothing to ease her insecurity. I get why he's like that but it doesn help. In a relationship, communication is important and after listening to her talking about her insecurity with the senior and how it's taking a toll on her, instead of comforting her and talk to her to help her feel secure. Due to lots of reasons, he didn't. He continue the "what me? like you? no way" dance they're on since highschool. I guess I just understand why she comes to her decisions given where she's at in life. Xiyue also has his role in how he mishandle their relationship, which is also understandable given their age. I like that they are showing this but I just hope they resolve in a mature way and grow instead of putting a band aid on it. My girl deserves some love and communication.

I don't even think she was that bad compare to other shows I've seen. She just didn't know what she wanted. She was at a point in life where she's trying to figuring out her direction. Her dream and her love were equally important and she wasn't sure what her dream is yet. If you think about it, Xi yue refusing to acknowledging her and his feelings sort of make her feel like the only way she won't be strangers with him is to follow him. I understand his dilemma but he's also too stubborn. The reality is to force him to admit his feelings and let her be in his life, she gotta stick to him and she felt like the only way she can do that is following his major. Without it, they literally would barely cross path again bc he was so adamant to avoid her out of his own insecurities. Then when she stop, he realize that he will literally no longer has her in his life with her unless he takes a step. I hope they let him actually properly explain to her his reasoning and feelings, so it doesn't seem to her like he just miss having someone following behind him. She deserves that much. She gave it her all and instead of communicate to ease her insecurity, he made it worse bc of his own insecurity. It's a mess.... It's their first love tho, so they are both struggling. I'm just feelings the FL's angst.

Waiting for new eps is killing me. I should have waited til Forever and Ever started to come out before starting this but I got anxious and started it anyway.... now I'm dying from the wait. Gonna have to close my laptop down for a couple weeks and come back.

Yup! There's certainly a more modern spin on things here with the wives having a more much more balanced position in the household. The antagonists tactics (aside from a couple ppl) are underhanded but not as harsh and cruel. I think Minglan is more realistic of how helpless women are in the patriarchy society and what that harsh reality look like. Here, there's drama and the obvious double standard, however, the wives hold a lot of soft power in society and the household. Can you imagine any women in Minglan's household chase their husband around and have them kneel ? Hell no. It does make this show much less angsty and an easy watch.

I think minglan is a little more serious than this drama. The chemistry is also not as good between the leads here but it's really doesn't affect much. There's a lighter spin to this one. The main couple isn't much of a focus after the marriage bc they are solid. There's not a lot of ppl constantly trying to break the couple like Minglan. However, there are other plots and family dramas unfolding and the FL is at the center to help and manage it all. The good thing about this one I think is that the level of severity of these situations are a lot less intense than Minglan (with the palace trouble and actually killing off concubines, etc.). Here,there are lots of family drama but it is overall a lot more light in a way. It doesn't portray anyone as endlessly vengeful or horrible. There are some who are spoiled, selfish and petty and some who are passionate and stupid but no one is unredeemable. They're just flawed. It's a good watch so far. The production is gorgeous and thoughtful with the historical aspect. I think as the show goes on though, there might be a big plot turn near the end that will ruin the whole family later. That will either make or break this family. SO far I'm enjoying the good times with all the drama in all the couples. I don't think it pull on your heart as much as Minglan but as the 3rd party, you feel bad for everyone's situation. It's like watching other ppl's family drama and getting all the tea. Minglan is better but I'm bias. I love Minglan a lot. I'm waiting for my brain to forget details about Minglan and rewatch it for the 4th time. It'll be hard to match that, but this is still a good show. I think it's also easy show to binge, stop and binge again.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but the interior of the cafe and Zeng Li's apartment is so cool. It's full of color and character but still super chic. The girl got taste. This is a very fun watch so far. I'm not a fan of some of the acting/directing choices but overall it's a really cute show. The main couple story is nothing super dramatic but still very fun to watch. The FL and ML characters are unique in their own way and they are so lovely together. The way they make the teeth thing a woven thread within the story weirdly works some how? As someone who wore braces throughout middle school, nothing about dentistry and teeth in particular is really romantic in any capacity but they're somehow making it work...? I was baffled by how they're able to make smt so gross and uncomfortable like braces and dental hygiene a plot device for romance.... I gotta give it to the writers. There some light negatives but overall this is a fun "turn off your brain and enjoy" kind of show.

I might be the odd one here but I'm not a huge fan of the interactions between the friends. I usually love girl friendship dynamic. I see what the show is trying to do but they just overact a little too much when they're together. Altho they were supposedly super close, their overtop interaction and jokes felt forced and not organic somehow. Like they were individually all normal ppl and then all of the sudden it becomes a comedy skit performance when they're together instead of close friends cracking jokes naturally. Idk may be it's just me. I also have to skip Ma Yi Yi story line quite a bit bc I just can't get into her acting. I think she got good comedic timing and I don't even mind the naive character but the actress just doesn't hit the right note with emotional scene without super dramatic zoom and camera shots. She overact when she could have play it straight for lots of scenes. I actually thought Ma Yi Yi struggle w/ finding the right partner in a complicated dating world should have been super relatable and interesting but some of the writing/directing choices and the acting just kept me from engaging. I had to skip and just get enough context to understand what's happening. Still a pretty good show tho.

this kind of personality often come of annoying/weak when it's not presented properly either by the acting or the writing/directing. Here, they were able to help us really connected w/ her and understand her personality and see ourselves in her. Every time she cried I wanna hug her and tell her this will all pass and it will all be ok. I get flashbacks about all the times in school where I get misunderstood or a situation get blown out of proportion bc I couldn't say no and It felt like the end of the world.

Their acting is really good for this kind of drama. I wasn't expecting much but they are doing such a good job. Especially ML. There was a scene where an interaction happen that got interrupted by the 2nd couple bickering and the camera was 100% just focused on the 2nd couple at the time. The ML and the FL were barely in the background but they did not fall out of the scene at all. They still sneak looks at each other and smile and stay in the emotional space of their characters despite not being in the focus. They could have just stand there and smile and no one would notice. It's barely noticeable but once I do, I have to appreciate how it all add to the natural vibe of the scene. That's good acting right there. I think in terms of plot , it's nothing too new but the acting really convey the sense of puppy love and the nostalgia of youth. As someone with a timid side myself, I cried with the FL for all the time she couldn't say what she want to say and create problems out of silly situation bc she couldn't express herself. The actress and the writer I think execute it well where it didn't feel annoying. Instead you sympathize with her. Lots of problems when in you're high school feel so big but looking back, how silly it was now.

She's a lot but honestly I get chills watching her bc it reminds me 100% of my mom. Even from the way she go overboard when she's mad and hurt the kids' feelings.... I got goosebumps from flashback of my childhood. My mom is much more extreme though. At the end of the day, she loves her kids. She's just not equipped w/ the ability to express it properly so she end up hurting them

I know it's been a while but just thought you should know there is a kissing scene from the photos. Lips touching and everything. Thank god. It won't be one of those super close in the moment when they're about to kiss and then zoom out to a flower LOL It looks like there will be a real kiss, so it seems Allen Ren is going to be a little flexible for the sake of this show!!

This was actually really good. I was hesitant bc of the mixed reviews when it first started so I waited til all the episodes are out to watch. The story is cute. Lots of kisses and sweet moments once the leads are together and just smooth sailing for the most part in the romance department. FL actress can be a little stiff here and there but she still did a good job. Some ppl think she's not expressive but personally I don't mind it bc I think it add a natural coolness and aloof vibe to the character without coming off like she's trying to act cool, or suppressing her emotion. It fits the character well. I can totally see someone with her personality grow to be how she is. She's Smilling after all. It's also a fresh personality to the typical cute/chipper and emotional female lead role we usually see. Our FL is a little aloof and cool but still very aggressive and full of sass. Xu Kai is his usual devilishly handsome self. He did a great job as well. I Love love love the interaction between them and the rest of the team too. They are amazing as a crew. Both ML and FL experienced growth in their skill as the leader & gamer as well as emotional growth. The CGI game rendering is sick and they narrate the gaming part so well you are able to keep up with what's happening and feel engaged and on the edge of you seat watching the game. It's a fun and cute show that poses an interesting dilemma with social media and stans. It's not a masterpiece to something super deep by any means but it's a great show to turn off your brain and enjoy. I'm pleasantly surprised by this show.
