Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!! Ahhh that was good. (^=^) So nice. The comlications are indicated but not overly dramatised! A sweet story. It's nothing entirely new, but enjoyable and the acting is good.
Thank you so muuuuuch! <3 I would have loved to say thanks with subs, but unfortunately my Japanese is too bad and I've got no friends who do subs either ///orz/// It's quite popular though, so I'm sure people will be fast subbing it. :D
This page has a stream of the RAW with Vietnamese subs up to Ep.5 , if anybody is looking for it and would rather not want to download as offered at the other page that was linked here :)
and still could not figure out why he was wearing the paper bag and why they did not show his face ??????????????????????
Why? (o_o) Because it's the main point! *lol* He wanted to stand out and be different enough to be noticed but polite and kind enough to be approachable while keeping himself hidden, too. He was torn between his non-expressive face and the expectation of others to see more on his face than that smile. With the bag, everybody would have no expectations to see other emotions on his face.
It's such a human thing. Too little or too much attention are fatal!
As for why they didn't show his face, it's to leave things to our imagination and maintain the mystery. >:P It's a bit of a tease why it's also a very good choice. Because it makes a point about "it's not his face that matters". And there'll be no collision with the viewer's personal taste in male faces either.
I don't know the original, but somehow I think it's unlikely since they completed the main point of him taking off the bag. Him without bag, even with remaining insecurities, will make the whole thing a "normal" romance. Unless the hive him a shock and he resumes his behaviour. Both would question the first season and drag things out in a way that is unlikely to be received positively. There's a lot of that out there. The bag made it absolutely unique!
However, maybe a person who knows the manga and full plot and tell you more.
I don't even know where that rather low rating comes from. No wait, maybe I do.
1) impatient people not used to J-school-romance slowliness (yes it's a tad of a pain) 2) People with expectations towards the adaption. 3) People who are not into catching on the suble communication that keeps going on and on or are not too much into emotional complexity and/or psychology. Which probably makes it boring for them, while I'm striving to not miss any details XDDD
Either way it's understandable reasons based on preferences.
I can highly recommend to watch this! It's very sweet and it's very deep and full of acceptance. And the hate is kept to a real minimum regardless of it being a school romance (they tend to have realy mesed up people). Ofcourse there's a lot of angst, but it's mostly self-inflicted rather than being applied from outside. And that's a really great things. Because people easily become their own worst enemy. So it's really good to reflect on this by watching the series. It's also great to see a drama that'll focus on showing ways of how to gently help others along.
The concept is fantastic. It shows openly what I find difficult to describe to others. I'm personally one of these people who're not good with faces and who'll easily look into (rather than "at") others. Which can scare people on one side and make me worry (too much) at times on the other side. I'm perfectly aware of how the face is important for communication but is often disconnected from the heart and will hence, not tell the story at all. Eyes and body language, voice and actions will eventually show m´way more. A very helpful and very troublesome skill *lol*. I love to see a whole drama about this very topic using such a very simple tool: A paperbag. And great great camera! The team did a great job! And the voice acting is god-ly!
I have done wrong in my life again. Why did I start watching this before all episodes have been subbed? It’s…
9 is out subbed. 10 is out but unsubbed. And the mysterious spin-off drama episodes are partially subbed but seems they are downloads as of yet and no streams. Maybe give yourself a few more days or weeks before you go for it. X'D
I don't find the ending disappointing at all. It's not like anything is set in stone. Just because Saiko met Hasebe…
I agree with you on that is was not a complete dissapointment, BUT it missed the point. Because he said it'd be their last meeting. He took her chance to fall in love with him, leaving her to who-knows-whom while either "punishing himself" by taking her from himself OR by losing to himself in terms of love. Because he gave it away without good reason. She was fine coping with him at his worst. Ofcourse love could mean to let go, but he ran away before trying if his changed self is a chance for both of them. Even if just for a part of their lives. He took the precious thing she said he gave her.
But I personally also feel like it's no end at all. That either that "Todome no Parallel" has something to add, or that there's more content planned. As a stand-alone as of for now, the ending has stomped over their both feelings. So I hope that's not their ultimate conclusuion. :'D
Edit: OK I saw a spoiler hinting that I'm right about Todome no Parallel eventually having the real ending. I stopped reading right away to not spoil to myself why that is XD. But hey, there's still hope!
I freaking loved this show! I love it so much! Until the last episode! That did NOT feel like an ending at all.…
Same thought. I just couldn't believe it turned out this luke-warm. Even a sad ending would have been better. Like this it just makes fun of their feelings and indeed has him lose to his old self regardless of him fixing things for everybody else this one time. Makes me think he won't do much better from now on.
This was going so good until that ending! I honestly thought this drama was perfect until episode 10 came. The…
Yeah right? As if loving her had not changed him enough already to at least be in the position to learn more about that strange confusing sticky thing called "love", that holds the world together :'D
EDIT: Seems like checking out Todome no Parallel might help. I see hints to it but don't know yet if it'll make things better or worse since I didn't see those yet.
It was a 10 until the ending came around. (=_=) So either there's another season planned, or maybe that connected "Todome no Parallel" will fix it [EDIT: at least I saw a hint it goes beyond what happens in this drama so chances are high, though I'm yet to find if for better or worse], which I've not seen yet. Or maybe there'll be a movie? Either way I'll deduce a whole 2 points for messing up at the most important part until it's fixed. And if it isn't then 8 is still a good rating.
P.S.: You should still absolutely watch it. It's very entertaining and wonderfully complex and emotional. Just be prapared that the end probably doesn't go along with any of your expectations. Neither the good nor worst ones *lol*.
