His dad did die twice on him. The second death was even more unacceptable as Kawi had the chance, the foresight to prevent it and still he didn’t. He was always drinking as shown in episode 6 so I guess when his dad died again, he turned to the bottle instead of his friends and spiraled from there.
As for Pisaeng, I guess he is truly grateful to Kawi as he said in episode 7 and not just in love with Kawi. Grateful coz he was able to be his true self even if he didn’t have Kawi. Or he was a baby duckling who imprinted on Kawi lol

One of the early ep will explain the mechanics of time travel. But basically it’s: Kawi will always return to the exact time he left whether past or future. Simpler terms: Kawi on July 4, 2023 goes back to the past. Once he decides to go back to the future, he will return on July 4, 2023 at the same time he left.
Also: Say Kawi leaves the past on July 4, 2013 to return to the future. Once he decides to go back to the past again, he’ll return on July 4, 2013. So if ever he made a mistake on July 3, 2013, he can’t undo that anymore. So no time loops.
