His sexuality wasn’t discussed/wasn’t an issue in the novel. He was basically a hoe and was forced to marry pear in the hopes of settling down. His sexuality wasn’t an issue because one of his older brothers was gay and had all the drama which made his parents eventually accept the brother’s sexuality. So by the time Pisaeng fell in love with Kawi, his own sexuality was no longer an issue.

Pisaeng’s brother’s story was just a few lines in the novel. I guess it was just to explain why Pisaeng’s parents would not have objection to Kawi. Pisaeng was basically a hoe and his parents got fed up with it so he was married to pear.

There is barely any conflict in the novel. It was just Kawi falling in love with Pisaeng.
